James Hardy is set to have a nice payday when TO asks for his #81. Easiest $75,000 Hardy will ever make! In all seriousness does anyone know how much these star players actually pay to keep their numbers when they switch teams?

Tim If You're Around Have You Heard Anything.
Estro replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't understand how you can say that the Vikings overpaid for Antoine Winfield. He's played great the past few seasons and if anything the conclusion I would come to is he has outplayed his contract. Also, yes the 49ers overpaid for Nate Clements, but did the Bills ever offer Nate a contract prior to his final season? Part of retaining your best players is recognizing their ability early on and perhaps re-upping their contract with a couple years left. The same argument can be made with Greer. The guy has done nothing but prove everybody wrong his entire NFL career. Had the Bills recognized his ability a season or two ago they probably would have been able to resign him to a much more reasonable contract. It seems the bills philosophy is not to pay anybody until they see them perform well for a few seasons. The main problem being by that time the player is nearly a FA and other teams are willing to pay him what he's worth. The Bills come in last minute, offer a contract less than what the player thinks they're worth, and the player ends up bolting. -
7 years $100 million can max out at $115 million.......$41 mill guarenteed,,,,,$32 mill in the first 13 months http://www.profootballtalk.com/category/rumor-mill/

Does anyone actually know how much the Bills plan to spend (or at least could spend) this year in FA according to their cash to cap policy? I've been on vacation for the better part of this month so I apologize if this has already been discussed. What would make me happiest would be to resign Freddy Jackson to a reaosnable deal for him and for the Bills.

I'm not quite sure and I know I'm not going out on a limb by saying this, but I don't see Losman even being in the league after the 2009 season.

I know this play has been somewhat discussed on this board, but I wanted to bring up another point. During this weeks press conferences both Juaron and Trent discussed that they practice this situation during the week with 15 seconds on the clock. What they apparently didn't account for was that a defense can stall the play a little and make it difficult to run the special teams out on the field. What was more upsetting however was the entire mindset of the play (and this is the main reason I can't take another year of the Bufalo Bills led by Dick Juaron). Down 3-0 the Bills were absolutely content to attempt to tie the game rather than take a chance for the lead with a touchdown. With :22 seconds left on the clock the Bills should have thrown one ball into the endzone. If it is caught we take the lead, if not you take your field goal. Yes, it was into the wind, but so what, Cassel and the Pats threw several key passes into the wind the very next quarter. Trent's reasoning for not throwing a pass in that situation was for two reasons. The first was that the weather conditions were too difficult (once again see the Patriots touchdown drive in the 3rd quarter). The second reason was that if you take a sack you run the risk of the clock running out. This comment was the most bothering to me. Juaron's scared and non-aggressive mentality has trickled down to the starting QB. Tell me how running a blast up the middle is any different than taking a sack with no timeouts left. I'm willing (and so should the coach) to risk a sack for the sake of making an attempt to take the lead and consequently the momentum going into the half. Like others have pointed out, Dick Juaron is totally content with keeping a game close rather than thinking score, score, score. I know now the game and season is over so many don't care. However, this play was yet another example of how this team is thoroughly outcoached and unprepared week in and week out. The game was an embarrassment to all Bills fan.

I got more entertainment out of that 4 minute clip than I have out of all the Bills game this past month combined.

Not sure the Bills can afford to take a TE in the 1st round, considering their porous d-line and interior o-line. With that said, however, if they do target a TE I hope that it is JERMAINE GRESHAM. I've watched quite a bit of Oklahoma this season and he has impressed me almost every game. For anyone who is unfamiliar with him he has what looks to be a bit of a small frame for an NFL TE, but he is tall and has great pass catching ability. In terms of awareness and athleticism he is the exact opposite of James Hardy. He can actually catch a ball in traffic and make an adjustment on a ball that is poorly thrown. That is the biggest problem with Hardy, he doesn't attack the football and make the catch. Gresham, from what I've seen has amazing ball skills (as Mike Mayock would say) and extemely strong hands). For those who haven't seen him this season keep your eyes open during the BCS National Championship game, #18 on OU

Why wasn't Dick taking timeouts when the Dolphins had the ball inside the 10 yard line with approximately 1:45 remaining. The key to winning is scoring more points than the opponent and it is the head coaches job to make sure the team has as many scoring chances as possible. To watch the clock tick away as the dolphins prepare to score again makes me and should make all Bills fans sick. The guy would rather have a respectable loss than take a shot. Sickening coaching, absolutely horrendous.

I know I heard that Dick Juaron signed an extension just prior to the Cardinals or Chargers game. Then after that I really never heard anything, there didn't seem to be any numbers released or even a press conference for that matter. What is the deal? Did he indeed sign the three extension? I would appreciate it if someone could clarify the situation for me. Ideally he didn't sign anything yet so we can find a coach who utilizes all 60 minutes to WIN the game. I'm sick and tired of his leadership.

at least he just got a 3 year contract extension. So if all else fails we get to watch this absolute horsesh*t for the rest of the decade. Here's to the Bills going 8-8 and having another swing and miss draft. McKelvin, Hardy, Ellis........what have we gotten from these guys again? Makes my stomach churn.

In the meantime, pick up ANY job BK McD's whatever. 70$'s/day is better than 0$... Worst thing u could do is sit idle. I would also show up at his next jobsite while doing a job, inform his customer of what he did, then call the police and file the police report right on the spot on his job. Put the pressure on legally.

Players Suspended for Doping (Rumor)
Estro replied to JimBob2232's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Everyone on that list is a starter and a key contributor to their respective team. You would think that a list of all the players who are guilty of taking the "water pill" would include some no namers and third stringers. It looks to me like that list could very well be made up, at leats that's what I hope. Whitner would be a big loss especially with all of our divisional games imminent. -
Hey guys, I'm starting to think about swinging out west to catch the Chiefs game. Roundtrip flight and tickets are pretty reasonable, much better than @ Denver. Wanted to know if anyone has ever been to Arrowhead/KC and how the overall gameday experience was. Any comments, tips or suggestions, ie where to stay, what there is to do would be much appreciated. Thanks (I know this should be posted on the Tailgaters board, but I know I'll catch more eyes over here, sorry!)

I agree. I was at the game so I wasn't focusing directly on the offensive line, but the pass protection particularly up the middle was tremendous. My only concern was there was very little push if any in the run game, which was part of the reason the run game for was rather pathetic. Don't know if Duke had anything to do with that.

Help! Where to get 2 tickets to SD game!?
Estro replied to Mister Defense's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just a forwarning: Tickets to the Jets game are going to cost you quite a bit. The only way you'll pay less than $120/ticket from the scalpers is if you decided to sit by yourself. -

Estro replied to Mister Defense's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Call my cell 518-229-9248. I have 2 tickets that someone didn't pay for. Lower level endzone seats. Like I said if you're interested give me a buzz either tonight (no later than 1AM) or call me anytime tomorrow. -
McGargo to Colts for a draft pick
Estro replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I still remember when the Bills tarded back into the first round of the 2006 first round. I thought for sure the move was for Nick Mangold because at the time there was a lot of talk of us drafting a Center. To be honest I haven't heard or seen much of Mangold to evaluate him, but looking back on it I wished they would have selected him instead. Hindsight is always 20/20. BTW anyone care to comment on how Mangold has been doing? -
I'll believe a trade for Gonzalez involving Fred Jackson when it is confirmed. It may very well be true, but until now that's all just a rumor.

Thanks, I was wondering what was up.

Haven't seen him once and there is only 10 minutes left in the game. Was he active for tongiths game??? NE has absolutely no run game.

profootballtalk.com thinks so (from pft): FINE SEEMS ALMOST CERTAIN FOR WILSON Posted by Mike Florio on October 5, 2008, 8:23 p.m. A week after a key player for the Arizona Cardinals was knocked out (literally) by a helmet-to-helmet hit, a member of the Cardinals used his hat as a weapon, and almost certainly will be fined for it. Safety Adrian Wilson sent Bills quarterback Tent Edwards to the showers early by putting the crown of Wilson’s helmet into Edwards’ facemask. The play took on an even higher level of violence as Wilson seemed to intentionally drive his hat into Edwards’ jaw when the two of them hit the ground. If the goal is to stop these kinds of hits, then Wilson needs to lose a significant chunk of his pay for the week. Meanwhile, NBC’s Keith Olbermann will likely generate a flurry of calls and e-mails for his comment while narrating highlights of a disoriented Edwards being carted off the field. “I can see Russia from here” was the line Olbermann attributed to Edwards. It was an objectively funny line, but the pro-Palin viewers in the audience, who surely are already looking for reasons to complain about the polarizing Olbermann’s involvement in a sports show, probably won’t see the humor in it.

No way the Royal fumble gets overturned
Estro replied to 2020 Our Year For Sure's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Absolute idotic play by Royal too. Reminded me of his 4 foot stride in the back of the endzone vs. the Titans 2 seasons ago. Nothing good can come from extending the ball with one hand when you're in a completely defenseless position. That play pissed me off and yes you're right he WAS NOT down. -
Yes!

We should probably trade them Marshawn Lynch now while we can get some good value for him huh?
