Because the website, which generates 10's of thousands of hits per day has a fanbase that takes an interest in looking at early mock drafts. So they put one out early, and gradually begin tweaking it once a week leading up to the draft. By the time the draft rolls around and all information has been processed and he's talked to his contacts across the league, he puts out his final mock draft, usually the most accurate mock of the bunch. I'm surprised you're shocked that not everyone believes Suh will be taken ahead of McCoy, both are very highly thought of from what I've read. I even heard Mayock mention at the Senior Bowl that he's not sure which one he'd rank #1 as of yet. Personally, I'm with you, in thinking that Suh is #1.

Do you guys not know how to click links or are you just thick headed? You can say you think anyone you think is the best. It just so happens the guy I said was the best, is in fact the best, and I backed it up with his draft from last year, the one before that, and the one before that. Mayock is also very good and I respect his evaluations on players. I remeber he absolutely hated James Hardy and thought the guy would crap out in the league. So far he's dead on in that assesment. I still think it's funny that the majority of responders to this thread think picking 15/32 players to the correct team in last years draft is not noteworthy and that "joe schmo" picks better than that. I will be offering a $100 cash prize to anyone who matches or beats 15/32 in the 2010 draft (no copying other mocks, obviously). When the time comes nearer I'll make it official, this way everyone can see how difficult it is to peg players to the right team especially once you get out of the top 10 picks.

Yeah, $10 everytime I tell the truth.........He's the best! Can't say anyone is the best at anything on this board without everyone getting all defensive, even when they're clearly the BEST! As to who cares......thousand and thousands of Bills and NFL fans in general who want to keep tabs on the website that's had the best final mock draft for 4 years and counting throughout this long offseason.

This scoring system is a total joke, and they don't even have Nolan Nawrocki included in this study. The true way to score a mock draft is to do the following: If you have someone going 15th overall and he actually goes 25th than you would receive a 10 (because you were 10 spots off). If you have someone going 15th overall and they go 5th the same rule applies, you would receive a 10 (because once again you were 10 spots off). If you happen to have a player picked in the exact spot he ends up being taken you receive a 0 (best you can do). You do this point system for every single pick in the 1st round and whoever has the lowest score is best, like golf. In the point system used in the analysis you provided it's simply a point if your guy goes in the round you picked him to go. That means if I have somebody going 32nd overall (the last pick in the 1st round), and the player actually gets picked with the 33rd pick (1st pick of the 2nd round) I'm rewarded with absolutely nothing, even though I accurately picked where he was going to go within one spot. However, if you have a player going 64th overall and he's picked 33rd overall you receive a point. How does this scoring system make any sense? Essentially any website can claim that so and so has the best mock drafts as long as they create some dumb point system that backs it up. I've followed Gosselin's mock drafts as well, he too is good, but no where near Nawrocki. Just go have a look for yourself. Compare Nawrocki's 2009 final mock draft to Gosselin's 2009 final mock draft and it's not close. I'm not saying he did bad, Gosselin's final mock was very impressive, but once again it wasn't nearly as good as Nawrocki's. Here is Gosselin's (8/32 players going to the correct team): http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dw...ft.3ed83e9.html Nolan Nawrocki (15/32 players going to the correct team): Unfortunately, Nawrocki takes the link down for his final mock draft over the summer, but here is the article to prove it- http://www.profootballweekly.com/2009/04/3...hes-set-new-sta 15/32 is better than 8/32 right? He was also better in 2008 and 2007 compared apples to apples to Gosselin, that's as far back as I went.

So, you must've been jumping for joy when the Bills selected Aaron Maybin over Brian Cushing right? There's your defensive lineman over an OLB, look how that one turned out. In general I'm not a fan of drafting for one particular position because your weak in that position. You have to take the best talent, reaching for a particular position is exactly what has gotten the Bills in trouble in recent history.
-
You'll have to post your picks this year. 13/32 would put you in the top 1% of mock drafts. I would argue it is hard to have the best mock draft of any publisher 4 straight years, but that's just my opinion.

I am high on Rolando McClain, one of the reasons I made this post. With that said, after the post was made I took a look at some of his tape on youtube, and it wasn't nearly as impressive as what I watched him do live. I'm not sure if it was put out by someone who purposely wanted to make him look bad, but there were tons of mistakes highlighted. Tackled very high, and seemed to be dragged a ton. Also got absorbed by blockers pretty easily. Take a look:

Read the following article, it's a real quick read: http://www.profootballweekly.com/2009/04/3...hes-set-new-sta This guys is in fact an expert. He scouts games in season. He attends the all star games. He attends the combine. He knows a ton of front office guys (aka inside info as to who teams are likely to select). He is also paid handsomely and the head of one of the better websites covering the NFL. He does his own scouting and creates his own predictions and value charts, with the input of front office execs., unlike 98% of the other mock drafters who truly are just guessing. Find me one mock draft that has been better than his in the last 4 years. At least do your research and know what your posting about before you open your verbal attack.

Watched him get beat for a sack in tonights game. Also believe I heard Mayock say he had a bit of a rough week in practice. Had problems with speed off the edge.
-
I don't know about that. Usually the first mocks are a little funny though, because at this point in the game they're really just a shot in the dark. Nawrocki watches plenty though, and many other so called mock drafts out there seem to anchor around his assesments. My man crush on Nawrocki's draft evaluation is warranted just look at his previous success!

Whos's #1......Okung? I happen to agree that Bulaga is #1. After him I have no clue really. I tend to follow what Nawrocki says after following his talent evaluation the last 4 years.

Yes, I like McLain a lot more than Weatherspoon. Kindle, I honestly don't know enough about, although I did hear Mayock say he loved the guy during the Senior Bowl tonight. When the dust settles I think McLain will go higher than Weatherspoon. He manned the middle and was a beast for the nations best defense. Some credit his success to having Gerald McCoy in front of him, and that could be true....that will be for "the real" college scouts to determine (and not youtube and armcahir scouts like myself). McLain is a playmaker that our defense is missing. Rolando had 105 total tackles including 14.5 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, 14 QB hurries, 2 interceptions, 3 passes broken up, and a forced fumble just last year. Weathersppon generated a lot of buzz after his junior season, but his stats really regressed during his senior campaign. Did teams figure him out, did he play on a worse defense? I don't know the answers, but like I said from what I've seen from the two of them, McLain stands out much more so. Freshman All SEC team his freshman year, All SEC team his Sophomore year, All SEC Team, Lambert Award Winner, Dick Butkus Award Winner, 1st Team All American, BCS National Champion his Junior year. This is a guy that would certainly have Nix's stamp of approval.

Anyone who knows ProFootballWeekly.com or Nolan Nawrocki knows he's the best in the business. Second to nobody and that includes Mike Mayock, a distant second. Tonight he has released his first mock draft: http://www.profootballweekly.com/2010/01/3...ackles-dominate Not too happy with snagging the 4th rated OT with the #9 pick. Our o-line is a priority, but I'd be happier with the best LB in the draft, Rolando McLain, if available.

Thank you. The fact that Clemens would even be suggested as a viable option makes me question what other people could possibly see in the guy. We've had crap QB's the last 13 years....let's not keep going down the same path, at least make it look like you're trying to get it right.
-
Oops my mistake. I thought he was on the books for more. At that price he is worth keeping around, but Jackson should clearly be the starter. Hopefully Lynch comes back in shape and motivated next season and changes my mind, but I'm not holding out hope.
-
After watching him live in Toronto, after Sanchez got knocked out.......absolutely not. The guy could not even successfully throw the ball past the line of scrimmage with any confidence at all. The Jets gave him the opportunity to throw on a crtitcal thrid down and he held onto the ball for about 6 seconds was sacked from behind, fumbled, and lost the ball. I don't think the Jets called another pass play the enitre game and there was roughly a full quarter left. If you're looking for 5, 6, and 7 win seasons than maybe you consider Clemens. If you're looking to field a competitve team with a shot at the playoffs year in and year out, steer way clear of Clemens. He also has small hands (JP losman like), resulting in an unusual number of fumbles, especially when hit from the blind side. His pocket presence in the 2nd half of the Bills game was utterly miserable.

I'll give you a place to start: The Bills selected Marshawn Lynch, and by all reports were choosing between Lynch and Revis. Who would you rather have? Lynch rushed for less than 500 yards this past season, and was suspended for 3 games for essentially being pretty stupid. And I don't buy the excuse that his production was bad because we gave the job to Jackson. Lynch was given plenty of opportunites to grab the starting job back, and did very little to earn the job back. So basically we have a situation where our #1 pick from 3 years ago is playing behind an undrafted FA (a good one, for sure), not exactly what you want out of a 1st round pick. Lynch is out of shape, and doesn't really seem to take the game seriously. Hit and run, carrying an illegal firearm, smoking dope, sexual harrassment, stealing a $20 bill.......all of it may not be true but I'm sure most of it is. Trouble simply follows this guy, and the fact that he's a very small slip up away from a 1 year suspension is concerning. Lastly, we're paying a backup starter money. Lynch will be making in the vicinity of $4 million next season, not a very good bang for your buck. To answer the actual question: I wouldn't consider touching a RB until at least round 4-5, unless Lynch were to be traded. We have too many defieciencies on this team to afford taking a RB any higher.

When does the PFW Draft Magazine come out?

What are the dates of the combine this year? -
Oddly enough, his value looks to fall right around where the Dolphins and Patriots will be selecting in the 1st round (#12 & #22).

Big fan of studying prospects entering the NFL draft. Nolan Nawrocki's NFL draft magazine is a must buy for me every year, but I can't find out when it is realeased. I also can't find out on their website, ProFootballWeekly.com, when it's due to release. For some reason I'm thinking mid February, but not really sure. Anyone know, ball park, when to expect to see it on shelves? Thanks.

The Bills have so many holes to fill that it does seem unthinkable that an OG would be the pick at #9, especially given the fact that we took a 1st and 2nd round guard in last years draft. I do, however, really like Iupati and think he will have a great NFL career.
-
One thing that's been clear throughout the Senior Bowl practices is that Mike Iupati has solidified himself as the #1 interior offensive lineman in this years draft. How would you guys feel if the Bills nabbed him with the #9 pick? Mayock today stated he thinks Iupati has solidifed his spot in the top 20 in the 2010 draft so #9 would seem a bit of a reach, but not a huge one. I for one would love to solidify the offensive line, and this guys seems thick, strong and solid. Some GM's, as well as Mayock think he's capable of playing RT or LT because he has long arms and has the athleticism to make the switch. Personally I like drafting guys to play the postions they played in college to lessen the learning curve at the pro level, but his versatility can only add to his value. Perhaps Levitre could move to LT, or Wood could move to center opening up a G spot for Iupati. An interior line of Iupati, Wood, and Levitre (from right to left) would be young and nasty. The ideal situation, if we were to pick Iupati would be a trade down into the teens, but the question is how would you guys feel if we stood pat and picked him at #9? A little write up from Nolan Nawrocki of ProFootballWeekly.com on Iupati for those who aren't as familiar with him: http://www.profootballweekly.com/2010/01/2...sical-abilities

Right on. Ralph continues to embarrass himself and all Bills fans. When you assess all of his key decisons the last 10-15 years it's very scary to think that HE is the owner and head man of the franchise. I've finally convinced myself that we will not and can not contend for championships until this team is under new ownership. Ralph may technically "care" about winning, but he is a weak leader who doesn't know how to win in the NFL.

ESPN Truth and Rumors: Buffalo and Vick
Estro replied to sharper802's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With Ralph as owner, and Russ Brandon still owning partial control over this franchise (opposed to what some others believe) the stupidest of stupid is always possible. 9 out of 10 moves made by Ralph at this point in time end up as utter failures. Any common sense fan realizes nothing will change until Ralph is no longer the head man. The guy (presently) is an awful businessman who continues to hold back the franchise. I will add that I would be shocked if Buddy would make such a move, as I believe he knwos way better than to think Vick is a good idea in Buffalo. If it were to happen it would only be confirmation that Ralph and Russ are still calling shots and not Nix, and that nothing has changed at One Bills Drive after all.
