  1. FA's - I like Charles Clay (almost a hyrbrid TE/FB), Virgil Green (mean blocker, young, Broncos fans love him) and Lance Kendricks (Bills brass liked him during his draft year, pass catching threat, 10 TD's the past 2 seasons) DRAFT (Under the Radar) - Rory "Busta" Anderson, South Carolina, 6'5", 244 lbs with pretty good athleticism. Maybe a guy who could be had with one of our 5th round picks. He was a t the combine, but didnt participate in on field stuff due to injury. I'll be interested to see his 40, shuttle and 3 cone numbers....just to see how athletic he is. He didn't put up good numbers at South Carolina, but he has a lot of positive traits physically. http://www.nfl.com/draft/2015/profiles/rory%20'busta'-anderson?id=2552638&id=2552638
  2. This doesn't help CJ Spiller at all........the more backs on the market, especially those that have a similar skill set to CJ......the less the demand. Simple supply and demand mathematics. At this point I'd be surprised if CJ gets more than $4.5M per. My guess is he's looking for $6M per, and the Bills are prob. offering $3.5M per.
  3. Just out of curiosity, do you mean Bud Light paid more than the revenue of the 500 seats? I ask, only because I'm business minded and numbers interest me. I'm trying to get my mind around how Bud Light's fees could trump 500 sold tickets. Even if the tickets were cheap, let's say $50 a pop that's $25,0000 per game. That means Bud Light pays in excess of $25,000 per game? I ask sincerely out of curiosity.
  4. Marcell Dareus is a much more pivotal player, so whatever they do I hope it's not so much that Dareus leaves next year. I really don't think Hughes is worth more than $6-7M per year, but I realize he'd prob. get closer to $10-$12M on the open market so if they're "getting close" I'm guessing the Bills offers are getting closer to that $10M per year mark. Let's just hope they have a plan for Dareus next year if they do overpay Jerry this year, definitely don't want to see that guy go.
  5. The 2 bigger name Tight End FA's this year are Julius Thomas and Jordan Cameron. Julius Thomas is an attractive option, but he will command big $$$ and I wonder how much of his success is based purely on playing with Manning. Cameron's had quite a few concussions and he also graded out very poorly according to pff's grade this past season. 2 guys that will be a lot cheaper and might be good fits with the Bills are Virgil Green from Denver and Lance Kendricks from the Rams. Virgil Green is more of your blocking type and would replace and upgrade Lee Smith. Broncos fans love him and don't want to see him go. Lance Kendricks was a guy I remember the Bills brass were high on entering the 2011 draft. He's more of your pass catching TE. He wasn't highly productive in STL, but he was a backup to Jared Cook the past 2 seasons. Might be a nice pickup on the cheap. Here is how profootballfocus.com has the FA Tight End class graded out: https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2014/12/25/2015-free-agents-tight-ends/
  6. I'd be surprised if Tevin Coleman, RB, Indiana is still around when the Bills pick in the 2nd round. He's not a big name right now.....but come draft day I think it'll be clear even to the media that this guy is a beast of a RB and will be gone late 1/ early 2nd round.
  7. http://www.buffalobills.com/video/videos/Bills_Focus_Inside_Buffalos_Draft_Room/b37321a3-5a95-4c80-b662-46ed9aa57696 With the recent news that Marrone stormed out of the draft room after the Watkins pickes I wanted to revisit this video. From the video, there's really no telling if he did or didn't, but I thought there were a few nuggets. - Marrone is barely shown in the video, with the exception of the Bills working to trade up to get Carlos Hyde in the 2nd round. - When it was all hugs and handshakes in the war room....Marrone was no where to be seen. Whaley, Russ, Overdorf, Monos and others are fist bumping and hugging after picks 1 and 2, and Marrone is never on the camera which is a bit odd. - Please let's not have Russ in the war room next year. First off, the dude appears to be wearing his Florida Marlins championship ring........really? Second, the guy is working phone lines and is clearly gung-ho about getting Sammy. When Cleveland says they have another call and Whaley puts the phone down....Russ looks like he's ready to cry, thinking they missed out on Sammy. His face reads like a kid who's parents just told him he can't go to a sleepover. I want that guy no where near negotiations for the Bills in the future. Any competent negotiator will and has steam rolled him (see Jimmy Sexton and the Cleveland Browns.) - I really get the impression Russ was a huge part of the aggressiveness and foolishness to move up for Sammy. Whaley admitted that Russ was the "point man" if they were going to trade up with Jacksonville, as far as discussing proper compensation to move up to that pick. Once again I don't want Russ Brandon anywhere close to being in a position to discuss compensation for moving up in a draft. The dude is totall incompetent when it comes to anything involving football. Get him out of the building please!
  8. Make no mistake about it, obviously, my lasting memory of Marrone will be the punt on 4th and 1 in the Raiders game, obviously on the 46 yard line, obviously down by 2. Make no mistake about it, the Raiders made a great play down the field on 3rd and a mile.....went onto score a TD and the Bills season was effectively over. Obviously, the Raiders threw a deep pass past the sticks on 3rd and a mile, meanwhile the Bills, obviously threw a 2 yard slant pattern to Robert Woods on 3rd and 10 a possession before that. Make no mistake about it, obviously that is why Marrone was never going to be a good coach, his offensive philosophy was, obviously painful to watch and completely ineffective. (Spoken like Saint Doug)
  9. Drew Brees. He has a $26.4 million cap hit in 2015 and a $27.4 million cap hit in 2016. He's due $19 million in cash in '15 and $20 million in cash in '16. He is 35 years old and while not falling off a cliff, his talent is declining, IMO. I don't know that the Saints could ever be talked into it....but I think hey would at least have to listen if the Bills came knocking offering a boat load of draft picks. The Saints are a bit of a mess. They've mortgaged their future in an attempt to make a SB run in '14 or '15. Their cap situation next year is a nightmare and '16 is a worse nightmare. With Brees the Saints only won 6 games this year......and perhaps they could see an opportunity to start a rebuilding process and purge some high price players if they don't think the SB is realistic in the next season or 2 with Brees, expecially if they can snag several high picks from the Bills in the process. The Bills would have to give up such a bounty to get Brees, I'm not even sure how I'd feel about it, but after so many years with such futility at the QB position I'd probably be on board, even knowing that Brees might only have 2 good years left in him. I'm thinking a Bills offer of EJ Manuel, 2015's 2nd and 4th round picks and 2016's 1st and 3rd round picks might get the Saints to start entertaining the idea of such a trade. The Bills get their quality QB for 2 years, the Saints get a bounty of picks plus a QB who can compete for the vacant opening and rid themselves of an aging and declining talent. They also rid themselves of huge salary cap figures. Short term it's a bad move for the Saints, long term Micky Loomis looks like a genius.
  10. That means I'm rooting for the bengals. I'd much rather play the Bengals at home than the steelers. A lot can change between then and now....but for tonight I'm rooting for the steelers
  11. If you're cool with the way the Bills perform on Sundays, more power to you. I am not and the point of my post was to show the direct correlation between bad offense and not making the playoffs. I also believe the evidence shows that our offense is an absolute wreck and is way worse then it was with lesser talent 3 years ago. Knowing that you need a good offense to sustain success in the NFL makes the decision to get rid of Marrone a very easy one, IMO. Also while I don't expect Terry PeGula to check Buffalo Bills forums it wouldn't surprise me if he has the pulse on what fans think. I know he listens to WGR radio......and I know a lot of what gets discussed on Wgr also gets discussed here. For all the crap Mike Schoop gets on this board.....the guy for the most part is dead on. If the guys running One Bills Drive shared half of Schoop's philosophies over the last 15 years we'd have been a lot better off.
  12. NFL offenses' weren't quite as prolific in the 90's and early 2000's as they are now. With that in mind, and with respect to the point I'm trying to make I will post where the Bills ranked in offensive yards per play (which in my mind best reflects an offenses ability.) 1 obviously being the best offense in the NFL, and 30-32 being the worst offense in the league. Years we made the playoffs in ( )'s. 1990: 2 (Super Bowl Loss) 1991: 3 (ditto) 1992: 6 (ditto) 1993: 17 (ditto) 1994: 18 1995: 22 (Divisional Round Loss) 1996: 21 (Wildcard Round Loss) 1997: 23 1998: 7 (Wildcard Round Loss) 1999: 14 (Wildcard Round Loss) Let the playoff drought begin: 2000: 12 2001: 17 2002: 13 2003: 30 2004: 26 2005: 27 2006: 26 2007: 22 2008: 22 2009: 28 2010: 22 2011: 13 2012: 13 2013: 29 2014: 29 This makes it pretty easy to see where the ineptitude of this franchise lies in the last 15 seasons. Our offense has never ranked above 13th in the last 15 seasons, and we've only had 5 seasons where the offense could be called average. Let me state that another way: We have not once in the last 15 seasons finished in the top third of the league in offensive yards per play. Incredible! Another point is the imprint Marrone has made on this team offensively. It's been horrendous. Back to back rankings of 29th offensively, that coming off back to back rankings of 13th under Gailey....and you could argue Marrone had more to work with. Like this year, some of our defenses have been stellar the past 15 seasons, but a stellar defense can't get a bad offense into the playoffs, as evidenced by above. The only way to get into the playoffs and sustain success is to get our offense right, and I DO NOT trust Marrone and his staff to get it right. His teams offensive rankings are pitiful and I think this makes it very clear we need a change.
  13. This made me laugh. Let's hope today is a better day!
  14. I think it's a wise move....Coughlin's track record there speaks for itself. I think the lack of a quality RB, mostly due to the injuring of Jennings have really hurt that offense. Eli is so much better when he has a decent run game around him....and they were not getting that at all with Jennings banged up. Andre Williams stinks, IMO. You might be right about Whisenhunt, but its just delaying the inevitable IMO. The way that team tried to build it's team, ala signing and drafting OG's like crazy, just makes no sense, which is more of an indictment on their GM.
  15. 2 college coaches that are getting a bit of chatter are: 1 - Art Briles (Baylor) 2 - Gud Malzhan (AubUrn) I have been of the belief for sometime that Bill Cowher has been waiting for the Giants job. We'll see if the G-men decide to part ways with Coughlin. All the chatter has Jim Harbaugh hopping over to Oakland if he doesn't take the job at the University of Michigan, but I believe the Dolphins will make a huge push to get him, as they did several years ago before he went to San Fran. I believe the Jets will target an offensive minded head coach after Rex Ryan's tenure......and I think Art Briles and some of the quality offensive coordinators in the NFL will get looks by the NYJ. I also believe there will be a shakeup with the Tennessee Titans staff. That team is way too much of a train wreck for there not to be changes.
  16. Was just about to post the same thing. We are not in. In fact according to my calculations there's no way the Bills can come out of week 16 as the #6 seed.
  17. Think he's better than Vick. Don't forget this is a team that almost beat the pats with geno at the helm. Any given Sunday?
  18. Setup a fund for someone who gets a $50,000 pension from the league? Someone who cashed in his 401k for $0.25 on the dollar? For a pro athlete who had a 14 year run of making pro athlete money? Look I hope for the best for everyone and I hope his situation gets better for himself and his family. But every man needs to accept responsibility for their decisions and for their lives......and that entire article by Tim Graham rubbed me the wrong way. Blaming Butler for not resigning him when he said he would. Saying the NFL doesn't care about him......it honestly all sounds like sour grapes to me. I also didnt like how Tim Graham called Duerson's widow to get a comment on Talley saying it's cowardly to commit suicide. He basically threw Talley under the bus and made him look and seem like an insensitive ass when that's not what he meant. Very unprofessional from Tim Graham.....which doesn't surprise me at all. The guy seems to do anything possible to give his stories the most juice and drama possible.
  19. Well Robert Woods certainly answered the bell today. Caught everything thrown his way including a couple of acrobatic, tough catches to extend drives. Obviously, his one-hander down the sideline will get all the ptess, but the catch he made on 3rd and 3 with about 4-5 minutes left in the 1st half down at the Bills 20 yard line was a heck of a catch. At that point in the game the Bills were up 7-3. If Woods doesn't make a great catch to move the chains we punt. Instead he catches it, and the Bills march al the way down the field and score a TD with 43 seconds left. 14-3 at the half.
  20. And that's the problem with the Bills. Every single team deals with ebbs and flows during the course of the game. The teams that can handle adversity and make the proper adjustments during the game are generally the teams that come out on top. Last weeks game was a perfect example of how bad the Bills become when they get hit in the mouth and need to fight their way back. After the safety, you could just see the wind sucked out of the entire team. At that point in the game, with plenty of time left to win it, Bills fans knew it was over. 2 Guys in particular that really bothered me were Robert Woods and Sammy Watkins. Their body language and the way they carried themselves between plays when the goin' got tough was discouraging. Dropping their heads after an errant pass or a quick pressure, or in Woods case a dropped ball. I really want to see this team handle themselves more professionally and with more fight when things get tough. We will see how it shakes out tomorrow.
  21. General admission means exactly what you said. first come first serve. AKA get their when gates open and you're sitting on the 50! I'm assuming club seats and suites of any kind will be closed off to the public.
  22. Russ Brandon in a stroke of genius, built a sledding hill that begins in the upper concourse of section 301 and sends sledders down to midfield. Tickets are expected to run $10/person or $20 for a family of four. Sledding hours will be 10am - 5pm Monday through Friday and closed on Sundays. Russ told the Buffalo News that the newly formed Buffalo Bills - Winter Amusements division will, "leave no stone unturned when it comes to finding ways to give back to the community and put a smile on the faces of families in Buffalo and the greater Western New York community. All aspects of our business will be assessed on a case to case bases and in totality." Russ also went onto thank Erie County executive, Mark Polancarz and New York State Governor, Andrew Cuomo for their continued commitment to Western New York and the Buffalo Bills in the form of a $10 million grant to help with the newly formed winter amusements department. The $10 million tax payer investment is expected to create an additional 2 part time jobs for Western New Yorkers as well as an estimated $17,500 in additional annual taxable revenue for the Buffalo Bills.
