The Bills are almost certain to make history this season, but not the kind they had in mind. Never before has their offense and defense, both ranked 29th going into the finale in New York against the Jets, been outside the top 25 in the same season. Both units are having one of the team's worst statistical seasons since the NFL moved to a 16-game schedule in 1978. The Bills' offense is on pace for 4,043 total yards, the lowest output for a nonstrike season since 1972, when they had 3,733 yards and finished 4-9-1. Buffalo is ranked 29th in passing with 2,343 yards, which puts it on pace for 2,499 for the season. The Bills haven't finished with fewer than 2,500 yards passing in a nonstrike year since 1978, when they finished 5-11. Defensively, they're on pace to surrender 5,641 total yards this season, which would be second most in team history. They allowed 5,809 in 1983, when they finished 8-8. Through 15 games, the Bills have allowed 5,289 total yards and gained 3,791 for a 1,498-yard difference. Unless they gain 144 more yards than the Jets do Sunday, the differential will be the worst in history. They gained 1,355 fewer yards than they allowed in 1968, when they finished 1-12-1. http://buffalonews.com/editorial/20051228/1018474.asp

If the WIVB story on TBD front page is correct
Larry Playfair replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
http://www.wivb.com/Global/story.asp?S=4288588&nav=0Rag This is just wild speculation. It doesnt matter where you get drafted, if you can play in this league you will eventually break into a lineup and emerge as a starter. Fact is, the kid will be our starting Qb sometime, and since we are 5-11, i think we should play him and find out if he truly can play, or this goof on the channel 4 website is correct. -
He has absolutely torched Miami in the past, how do you not have Moulds as a main target in your gameplan vs Miami? Moulds has been a vocal "B word" this year, but for some reason, I get this feeling that it is warranted. Depressing.

#2 Defense, #7 Offense in 1st Quarter
Larry Playfair replied to AKC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What about the fact that defenses adjust to us, and we cant seem to make any subsequent adjustments on the fly to allow us to continue with our game plan? -
The point Gaughen is making is that RW doesnt want to turn over the whole organization, get a new GM from outside, have that GM dump Mularky....RW believes that the current man in charge is not doing the job and we just need a shake up, not a complete overhaul. RW wants some continunity, and this allows him to change the top decision maker in the organization, but still keep the philosophy, and head coach. Why would Modrak leave? He wants to be a GM. I think the article is well written and discusses the most likely scenario this offseason. Although I do agree w/ buftex that if the o and d lines were improved, we could have something. But that is a HUGE if ...and if it were as easy as saying "lets do it" it would have been done. I am unclear as to why WHY! TD thinks he can get by with, at best, average players on the lines?? I dont understand it? I played college ball, and everyone who knows anything about football knows you are only as good as your men in the trenches. Even Barry Sanders couldnt win sheeit b/c he had no o line. Maybe last years end run fooled TD into believing he was just a player away on the o line? On D - we knew about the Sam Adams / mularky issues last year, so why did we believe we could lose our best d tackle and rely on adams to step up? Tim Anderson was deactivated most of the year last year - why did he believe the guy could come in and backup/spell our starters? we have no depth here. These are serious q's in my mind that make me conclude TD has to go.

Vote for your favorite Mike Williams injury
Larry Playfair replied to HelloNewman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
sprained pus*y. -
Peter is nowhere near fast enough to play TE in the NFL, that is why he has been moved to O-Line.

Interesting insight, since in SI this week they make the "bust" comparison btwn Tony M and Fat Mike. I believe mike has the skills, it just seems like he doesnt have the motivation. At this level, you have to have the killer insstinct in order to survive, much less excel.

By the way, you Armchair GMs,
Larry Playfair replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
6th roundres usually take a number of years to develop - taht is why they are 6th roundrrs - technical knowledge or expertise of pro game or techniques required at the NFL level, strength, quickness, etc. -
Atlanta's line is just OK, vick makes them seem better then they really are.

who is gonna actually pay Owens next season?
Larry Playfair replied to trolls_r_us's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Someone will pay him, but i doubt the raiders can afford him. -
I've never understood this anti TD movement
Larry Playfair replied to Mr. T's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
what is the teams record with him as the GM? Isnt that the bottom line? -
Some amazing plays, but what I thought was most surreal was that many fans left at halftime, and in the 3Q when we started to comeback, people from the parking lot were literally climbing over the fences to get back in, and there were so many doing it, security couldnt stop them. After a while, security stoppped trying and was watching the game liek everyone else. Goosebumps as i right about it. Pure fandaaamoniuuuummmm!

Wow. Tom Brady REALLY is that good.
Larry Playfair replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We havent had a 300 yard game since, what 2003, and Brady is avg 300 yards a game. He leads the NFL with 1,821 yards, averaging 303.5 per game. -

How many statistical catagories are we last?
Larry Playfair replied to Larry Playfair's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
But being last is more than just having poor players, this may be the first time I am realizing that our coaching is sub par. We dont seem to make any adjustments that work. What the hell happened from the end of last year until now? -
This just from Rochchacha and Buff news stories I read today: The Bills rank 31st in the NFL in passing yards as they average just 113.4 net yards per game, which takes into account yards lost due to sacks. They are also 31st in yards per pass attempt, a feeble 5.27. Only the winless Houston Texans rank below the Bills in those categories. Nothing can hide the fact the Bills' "D" has been an embarrassment. It's 31st in the NFL in run defense, 30th on third downs. We blow.

thanks man! great time and i was happy that sf billsfan and i came up to find you. nice hardhat! the raiders fans were nice b/c we got killed!

To those who want to fire TD / MM
Larry Playfair replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It all comes down to our d line and o line performing. that is the bottom line to winning in this league. the talent we have in those positions, especially on the o line, is a joke. so it isnt a coaching issue for me, its a talent isue. and i think we know whose responsibility it is to bring in the talent. -
Did Anyone Else See The Sporting News'
Larry Playfair replied to buckeyemike's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
worst stadium hands down - candlestick. talk about cold in the summer!! The place is a dump, the parking lots flood during football season so no one can park, the johns hold about 10 people, and the hallways arent big enough to stand in line for food, and allow traffic to move.
