Tank Carder....is the 2nd too early for him?
apulshunny replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So yes, 2nd round would have been too early. -
For those lamenting that TJ was taken too soon, you should look no further than NE's pick in the 2nd round. He was off many board completely, but there were the Pats taking him where they did. It's easy to say so-and-so will be there later in the draft, but unless you have secret video into every war room in the league, you can never be sure what another team is really thinking. One think I'd love to see is a Wikipedia page that goes over Kiper's (or any other "expert's") mocks over the last 10-20 years and see how right, or wrong they really were. So many people glace at someone else's research and somehow that makes you an expert. If you don't trust the Bills brass, just say so and stop citing details that you really don't understand anyway. Taller does not mean better (ask Welker, or Steve Smith). Faster does not necessarily mean better (ask Jerry Rice). You've not met the kid. You've not watched him in practice, so stop acting like you know what you're talking about.

Animated GIF reaction to the first round of the draft
apulshunny replied to ACor58's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I read into that clip that Decastro going to THAT team ticks off everyone else. He should have gone earlier, so it's bitterness that the rich get richer. Similarly, Detroit getting Reiff makes them that much scarier. Those are my takes on it at least. -
Picks 7 through 10 a crap shoot just look at 2006-2011
apulshunny replied to shoretalk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
IF you cannot find a trade partner, then I agree that picking production, over potential at the time is prudent, but using the idea of the draft value system by trading picks is underutilized by GM's. I think NE is the best at that practice. -
I'm in San Diego and we have the Jets game on here. The more I watch him, the tougher it is for me to envision Sanchez leading his team to a title. Maybe he'll mature, but he simply misses throws that he should make. I'm not sure he's actually accurate enough to pull it off.

Is Buffalo's future in Michigan's hands?
apulshunny replied to machinegun12's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not only agree, but EXPECT that to play out. Clausen has done nothing to warrant a feeling of security. If he played/won like McCoy is in Cleveland, then maybe, but that team will take the premiere player available. -
Just heard on the Pittsburgh game that the Bills and the Lions have the longest playoff drought. Last time in the dance was 1999? Looks to me like the Lions are closer than the Bills to getting off that list.

Like the helmet. Hate the rest.

Unless he's broke, what would the bills have to offer other than money?

Being a lifelong Bills fan is a catch 22 really. On one hand, this is Ralph's toy to play with, but it is based on the support of a community, so there is a belief that he has a responsibility to that community. Either way, the fans have no direct say on what management does with the team. Because I loved FOOTBALL and lived in a city that has an NFL team, I rooted for that team. If I grew up in another city, I'd be a fan of that team instead. It's not like I grew up in a neutral city and found something compelling about Wilson's management style. To say no Bills, no NFL sounds hypocritical. If you do not like the NFL, then walk away now, Bills, or not. Why you would stick around only because of the Bills seems insane frankly. The point is, I've recently evaluated my allegiance to the organization. My analogy is that I have to sit in a corner while I watch Ralph play with his toy even though he's playing with it in ways that is hard to watch. So, I've left the room. Because I know many of you cannot stop watching the fool, I just sit outside and wait to offer you perspective once you open the door yourself. For a long time, I struggled with the idea of loyalty, but I've come to embrace placing my loyalty where it really matters. I spend more time with my family and doing my job well, and less on what is happening with the Bills. Keep in mind, Ralph admitted in his HOF induction speech that Buffalo was his #2 choice all along. He really wanted to go to Miami, but they turned him away. Now it's your turn.

who would you root for if the Bills left

I think it's absurd to keep asking this question. Would you guys just let Ralph Wilson live out the rest of his days. No one has any clue if this decision even has to be made. It's disrespectful and obnoxious. Why don't you guys just start rummaging through your parents things and start picking out the stuff you want when they die. Hopefully they don't sell anything in a garage sale or something before they die and leave you screwed out of any of the items you picked. It's a catch 22 really. On one hand, this is Ralph's toy to play with, but it is based on the support of a community, so there is a belief that he has a responsibility to that community. Interesting you bash the NFL for greed, yet you embrace Saban. Interesting. -
Ralph had a chance to upgrade the FO and got Nix. Until Ralph's tenure ends, there is no reason to waste any energy and emotion on this team. I'm just waiting for the inevitable and then I'll consider rooting for this team again.

OFFICIAL GAME THREAD: BILLS v. 'PHINS 10/4/2009
apulshunny replied to The Senator's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Build what? YOUR owner is going no where. I was born a Bills fan, but I've boycotted watching, or following this team due to Ralph. As excited as I was about Bruce getting into the HOF, I was equally disappointed that Ralph got in. During the SB years, I was pleased that it seemed that he finally figured out how to run a team (by staying out of the way). Then he lets Polian go and the rest is history. Other than one 6 year run, the guy has been THE most frustrating part of rooting for this team. NO MORE! I'm still a fan, but I simply cannot ruin my days hoping that this guy can bring me a speck of joy. When he goes, I'll be back. I only logged in today since I saw the score and wondered what type of Armageddon I'd see on this board. About what I expected. What a shame. -
To an organization that clearly is undesirable to play for?
-
I for one am concerned that the team has stood still for three years, yet the players love him. That tells me the players are more concerned about their comfort than winning. I can accept when a team supports a coach who may have a bad season after previous success, but that does not apply here. Jauron has had no success here and the players are embracing it. Time to light a fire somehow. Maybe Ben Stein?
-
WHY? What has he done for us to make you feel bad for HIM?

Can someone explain Marshawn's troubles?
apulshunny replied to apulshunny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Which is largely why I started this thread instead of adding to yours. I did not see the appeal of ML based on what I've seen so far. Fred Jackson seems to find holes with the same OL, so I don't think it as easy as just saying it is the OL. -
Owner first. I'm not sure how you can say HC before GM. At least someone occupies the HC seat. Sadly, I cannot say something like he has a heartbeat, or the like without an argument, but there is a name on the door at least.
