Roll Call - Who would have preferred to lose?
PearlHowardman replied to The Senator's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Today's come back reminds me of the AFC playoffs in 1993 when the Bills came back and beat the Houston Oilers. Then, the Bills actually had to play a real team in the Dallas Cowboys in the Super Bowl. Result: 52-17. -
2 things: 1. This game is why I'm a Bills fan ..

The main problem is, and no Bills fan really wants to talk about it so I'll bury the subject here, is the playoffs. The NE Patriots and NY Jets are likely to battle for the 1-2 AFC East position for the coming years. IMHO, even Miami has a better future than the Bills. Where does that leave Buffalo? -
That statement brought smiles to Ralph Wilson and his accountants. Because all they care about is ticket (and merchandise) sales. Put a lousy team on the field and people still pay money to see them. Why improve the team? That would just cost more money! Ralph Wilson and his accountants don't want that.

I'm saying the Bills owner has no incentive to improve the team. So, he never will.
-
You nailed it, Troy. But the Buffalo Bills didn't necessarily "win". They survived - by scoring two touchdowns.
-
That's Albany for you. Be grateful it was the Giants and not the Jets or Patriots.

Buffalo Bills owner Ralph Wilson puts a lousy product on the field week after week, year after year. But Bills fans still fork over their money to Wilson. So, what is the incentive for him to improve the team? Why should he spend money? Answer - there is no incentive for Wilson to improve the team. So, he won't improve the team. Bills fans still fork over their money.

Buffalo Bills fans here in Syracuse don't have the money to be buying merchandise. We spend our money on Bills game tickets, gas to get there, tail-gaiting, etc. Lots of us do! Giants fans, with their new merchandise, watch games from their couch. They never go to their games - it's too far to travel! Additionally, a lot of football fans here in the 'Cuse strictly follow SU. They really don't watch the NFL at all. My parents are like this as are many of their friends.

Regionally, the Albany Times-Union manages to slap the Bills and their obviously few fans in Albany. This article is posted on page one here at the Stadium Wall. I thought it would be a favorable article but I guess not. They quote Bills fans FROM Buffalo. I guess they either couldn't or wouldn't find anyone local. http://www.timesunion.com/default/article/Bills-fans-coping-together-799207.php

Recently you posted how impressed you were with the Buffalo Bills front office decisiveness when they released Trent Edwards. You "liked it." Still long-term optimistic, John?

A few comments about the game
PearlHowardman replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1. Lax "Speed Bump" attitude before the bye week off. 2. The Bills still lost the game. 3. The Bills just gave KC, et al, all the game film they needed. 4. The Bills do not get another two weeks to prepare for KC like they did Baltimore. -
That's what's so good about living here in Syracuse. Not only do we have SU Orangemen football but we have SU Orangemen all sports. Basketball, lacrosse, etc. Then, drive west to Orchard Park to see a professional football team. I don't know if there's many Buffalo Sabres fans here, though.

A few comments about the game

Gosh, John I really hate to break it to you. But the Bills have played six opponents who have absolutely NO respect for them. The Ravens brought their B game or maybe even their C game today. They were probably more concerned about their bye next week. And the Bills LOST! Now that the Bills have provided future opponents about how bad we really aren't, you can expect those opponents to take Buffalo more seriously. But not too seriously. I still don't see a Buffalo win until the end of the season when we play a playoff team or two who really don't care if they win or lose. On the other hand, we have played six opponents who really don't care about us and we still managed to LOSE all of those games. Got it, John? -
Well, the SU Orangemen win over #20 West Virginia yesterday is being savored by all football fans here in Syracuse. Feels great! They have SU fans in Binghamton, Rochester & Buffalo. I never understood why there's so few in Albany.

Slight Subject Change: How is the viewership of the SU Orangemen in Albany? Big win yesterday! Oh, wait! Doesn't WRGB broadcast well into New England? Do the fans there really want to see Buffalo?
