  1. Sign me up man! For real though, I think we deserve a bit of good news around here.........
  2. Well, people always talk about the lack of run blocking around here and Anderson sure did a great job of it at tackle. Now, I'm not saying I know 100% that it would work, but I'd say a move like Will Wolford made could give Anderson acouple more seasons. As for Butler, I like his pass blocking a lot but have yet to see him push anyone back in the run game. All I'm saying is it seems to me Andersons strengths such as run blocking and make no mistake, he has been a very solid pass blocker as well, would give us some extra push in the run game while not losing anything in the pass protection department. I understand the "Butler graded out better than the other lineman why is he the guy you would replace" argument though. Personally, I would not even have brought this up if not for the GD Jason Peters situation. But, because of it, I believe Willie Anderson would look a hell of a lot better at RT Kirk Chambers till Peters is ready to play. After that, him being a great backup /part time or try him at RG would be fine by me. The way I see it, Jason Peters has now hurt THE TEAM and Anderson getting some money is what you get for the way you chose to handle your "situation".
  3. You are correct, it's not quite that simple. But with Anderson, most of us have seen him play some over the years and his style IMO would suit the guard position quite well, especially staying on the right side. I doubt this situation will happen so we are pretty much wasting our finger strokes right now even discussing it but hey, ya never know. I would love to stick it to Peters and his agent anyhow. Ya don't put yourself higher than the team, that's all I have to say about that.
  4. We already have the biggest line in the NFL Anderson would make it even bigger, AND better. Butler would be an expensive backup, but oh freaken well. Our run game would get a HUGE shot in the arm, literally. The more I think about it the more I like it. The only slight downside is Anderson is 33 but the future is now. Another move that makes too much sense so I guess it won't be made.
  5. That would be the ideal situation billybob, sign Anderson and move him to RG if and when Peters returns. Unfortunately, the Butler extension complicates things.......
  6. Wow. Never woulda thought Denny as a doper, be it the green or roids.....Go Copeland Bryan and Chris Ellis.
  7. Look, I hate the fish as much as the next guy but they have the makings of a good running team. Two solid backs and most of their offensivelinemen are good runblockers. Sorry.
  8. No doubt berndog!!! I didn't think about the "Jets being shoved in your face factor" I would be pretty annoyed too!!!! I just think they'll have a pretty solid line (without a Pro Bowler though) and until Farve burns out he'll probably make em' look better than they are. Did I mention I still think we'll kick the crap out of em' anyways!!!!!?????
  9. Actually berndog, I respect your opinion alot and wll have to go with your assesment on Faneca, who is probably on the decline some but is stilla very good guard. It's probably a little age and the Langston Walker factor (played on a bad pass blocking line and everybody got the blame, but he turned out to be a pleasant surprise). But like I said, I personally haven't seen much Steeler football the last couple seasons either so he's probably not as good as some here think but a little better than you may think as well. As for Ferguson, I agree, he had a rough rookie year, but I have seen a few Jets games and while I don't see "Franchise Player" , I do see improvement. I don't recall Schobel dominating him much this past season and think he'll be a fairly solid tackle this year.
  10. I don't know man this may be the type of thing you kinda keep on the downlow. Of course, I don't know how "legal" these links are........
  11. Ya, you gotta love since Ferguson wasn't a Pro Bowl LT as a rookie people around here think he is a bust. He has gotten progressively better and while sure, the top DE's still get the better of him from time to time, the guy has the tools and has gotten better and works at it. Playing next to Faneca will not hurt his chances either....... Their line is very solid like it or not. I prefer not but what's a brother gonna do.
  12. He is even a lot weaker than Preston coming in as a rookie and Preston is just now starting to not look out of place. Bell will probably never hold up inside, but could be a jouneyman backup tackle with all the undersized ends these days. This guy is getting a little too much love around here IMO, although I agree he is a great story. Bell would get eaten alive should he have to see the field in a regular season game this year and probably even next year as well. I'll say he needs TWO offseasons to be NFL ready ( against starting caliber players).
  13. What, like the next 10 generations?!?!?!
  14. Thought I'd never say this as well Bill but Preston has gotten better. I know Fowler had offseason shoulder surgery but Preston has been getting VERY early playing time this preseason.....hmmmm. Also remember, it was Preston's SHOTGUN snaps that caused the jailbreaks in Pittsburg and drew the wrath of the board. If he has improved in that department, he actually gives us more size at the position and could be a surprise starter there. DID I JUST SAY THAT?!?!?!?!?! I gotta get coffee, I see ya's a little later.
  15. Not good people. Hope he can return this year........
  16. This one deserves it's own thread so leave it alone mods..... this is a BIG deal. Literally. Keep it updated people.......
  17. I thought his head looking like a monkey's was just a birth defect!!! My bad....
  18. I missed the Sirius interview with Dockery Bill, what did he mention about how strong Peters is??? On the field, weight room strength, etc.???? I'm just curious, and would like to know how much he works out with in the bench and squat if Dockery mentioned it. I bet Dockery has some pretty good numbers in that department as well........I'd love to be allowed to watch some offseason training sessions with the lineman ( O and D), LBers and RB's.........
  19. Was wondering the same thing myself. Unfortunately, a current trend I've noticed the past couple seasons is late breaking injury news. The dude almost loses a limb and it takes 3-4 days to anounce a season ending injury!?!?! Yeah, that's an exaggeration but you get the point. I was never high on Schouman at all and while I don't wish and injury on anyone I am much more intrigued with what Derek Fine and even Courtney Anderson can bring to the table. I know some here have brought up Schouman having a similar skillset to Dallas Clark but that is a pipe dream, make that a crack pipe dream. They are similar in size but Clark actually has real recieving skills, Schouman has to basically be uncovered to be able to do anything.
  20. I'm with you on that LabattBlue, but it will still take time......and injury bug repellant!!!!!
  21. Be ready for posts like this on a regular basis until the 2nd half of the season or so, it takes some time to get a WR's feet wet. There will be some flashes because of his size and athletic ability, but expect a learning curb people. Some long stretches without hearing from him then BLAM!!!!! Hardy scores on the fade!!!!!!!!
  22. There goes one of the "main cogs" of our offense. Sure, I'm encouraged with Robert Royal being 100% and all, but our TE corps are still pretty dreadful...........
  23. I hear that ndirish1978. All my yardage came from counters and powers to the right in I formation.
  24. I haven't played another game yet so like I said, I PLAYED THE DOLPHINS. I tried extra hard to not hit any speed burst, juke, spin, truck etc. buttons until I got to the line of scrimmage but we shall see if I figured it out or you can run all day on the Dolphins to the right. I'd say at least 150 of my yards came from runs to the right. I'll post again after I play more tonight or tommorrow.
  25. Played the Dolphins and had a breakout rushing game: 21 carries 198 yards and 4 TD's......They couldn't stop my outside runs to the right, and had decent success up the middle. We'll see if it's me or the Dolphins later tonight......
