  1. Schouman was the smallest TE we had, and not a good blocker. The only thing he had going for him was he had the most expirience out of all our TE's. Nelson, Fine, and Stupar all have higher upsides now they just need expirience, which they're gonna get very quickly.
  2. Edwards will say "oh, it'll be tough to replace Derek" but in truth it won't. This will hopefully force the Bills to catch up with the rest of the modern world at the TE position. Let the Nelson with Fine/Stupar era begin. Maybe even add another TE with recieving potential in Rucker?............
  3. Wouldn't mind giving him a look, but not at the expense of Nelson's playing time. I doubt he would last long on the practice squad either. He must really be struggling lining up like a real TE.........
  4. The D is doing well, but I'd say they are two front 7 players away from being championship caliber. A LB and big noseguard type who can consistently push the pocket and command double teams. Stroud and Williams would look even better not to mention the LBing core. Moving in the right direction though.......
  5. Yep, chris Brown just mentioned it. So much for the Bowen is gonna be a starter crowd.
  6. Bowen was cut at the final cut downs, right? Or do you mean released from the practice squad?
  7. Unless it's a 4th or higher or a position of need(Astro had a good idea) YOU JUST DON'T DO IT!!!!
  8. We DO NOT have other recievers waiting in line to do the same job, and I know you're specifically thinking of Steve Johnson. The Bills would be wise to try and keep him for another year or two while Hardy works his way back learning from Owens....Johnson can MAYBE take over for Reed next year......MAYBE.
  9. Bell is fast Jerry Jabbler but not strong. Luckily for us athleticism is the most important trait for a LT and Bell is well above average in that area. If Bell can still improve in the strength department we may have a long term answer at LT but if not he'll be a guy you can get by with but someone you're always looking to upgrade. Hopefully, he stays committed to the weight room..........As for Hangartner, I'm glad we picked him up as well.
  10. Maybe he continues to wear the shades?.......hopefully like Billsguyinorhardpark said, injury update.
  11. Schouman's injury is a blessing in disguise. While I don't wish injury on any Bills.......this will force Trent to get Nelson and Fine involved more, which is good because both have a higher upside than Schouman, especially Nelson. This is better for the future of the offense...........
  12. I'm encouraged as well. I'll tell ya what, Butler has really outperformed my expectations for him even though I thought he should have been playing at tackle all along. I hope his injury isn't too serious because even though I'm glad they have Scott ahead of Chambers(another move I totally agree with), Butler was playing good football so far.......
  13. I was watching NFL Network about a week before the season started and they asked Warren sapp who were his top 5 O linemen right now and he had Penn as his #5 for what it's worth.......
  14. I agree that later on Mitchell could be the odd man out. Too slow and stiff. He'd be very good as an ILB in a 3-4 IMO. He'll be good to have though vs. teams that have big power backs, though not many are left anymore......
  15. Good catch on Buggs being a 2nd year guy, I overlooked that. I probably would work Johnson in slowly behind both Mitchell and Ellison to see where he fits best and let Buggs decide his own fate in the middle. Supposedly Fewell said Ellison could slip inside(I know ) and Harris would go outside. In that case once again Johnson could rotate with Harris till he gets more comfortable in the bills scheme. Doc, you also raise a good question on how much to give up and how to approach a contract extension. If I'm in charge (God help us all!!! ), I would give up a 3rd if an extension was worked out before hand and a fourth or a fifth if not. His speed and coverage skills alone would raise the D up another needed notch. IMO a big DT like Bamas Cody would then be a final piece of the puzzle to make the D really good.....
  16. He'd be a huge improvement over Ellison OR Mitchell in the Cover 2, and I don't think anybody is looking at him as a longterm answer in the middle. It's just the fear of a rookie in the middle until Poz is back. Speaking of Poz, I also think that Derrick Johnson is EXACTLY the type of LB he needs on one side of him to take his game to the next level.
  17. I don't know what happened with Reed Mon night but Johnson was inactive. Barring injury, Johnson may have to be patient and keep working to improve before he gets a shot at the starting slot reciever position. I wish he had gotten better at special teams because I do think he has a chance to become a #3, while Jenkins is a career special teams gunner IMO.
  18. I didn't realize that Chambers was the inactive tackle Mon night so maybe there is a spot for Runyan. Buffalo will probably keep an eye on him should Butler(who has surprised me at T so far) get injured. Runyan will probably wait for a chance because of injury as well.......
  19. Good post, and I agree with almost all of it, especially the cry for a youth movement at certain positions. One thing though, with Fine returning, even though he's probably JAG like Schouman, I'd use him and Nelson as the top 2 TE's. Nelson will only get better, and Fine offers a little more size and upside than Schouman IMO. Harris and Ellis need to see the field ASAP like you said, and AVP should only get better and hopefully the deep ball will come.......
  20. I'd love Runyan as well, but we already have Butler and Chambers at RT. LT is the weak link. I knew Bell would need 2-3 offseasons of weight training to develope a complete game. He has athleticism, it's just he never really lifted weights until sooo late. Unfortunately, we have to live and die with him at LT because Chambers is a stiff. I would rather Scott backup the left side IMO.
  21. I'm on board. Johnson has the perfect skillset to play either outside position in the Bills D, and like bluefire said, could probably hold down the fort for Poz in the middle for now. Would love to see a play for him............
  22. Poz would of allowed both TD's to looked even easier. Now, Nic Harris on the other hand being a little taller than Ellison with those long arms of his.........maybe he could have stuck one of em' in there and broke up one of those passes. Only time will tell......
  23. Lynch home jersey. He'll be with the team in spirit!!!
  24. Well, considering I watched Mr USC TP make more plays in a half of football on Thursday night than Donte makes in a season, it's maybe time to step it up. Oh, I forgot, it's because the Bills use him in so many different and creative roles.....
  25. Hopefully after Fine is fine they cut Schouman's useless ass. I mean, WHAT does this guy bring to the table besides him being Trent's butt buddy? Don't even try and come up with the "he's a reliable blocker" either. Stupar and Nelson all the way!!!
