Right. And don't get me wrong, I want a franchise QB just as bad as Ice does, but if we are "forced" to go LT and then NT with the first two picks, it would be a much more comfortable situation for the next guy we try at QB. On the down side of that, with the improvements made we probably won't have a bad enough record the get a top QB next year......
-
Pretty much what I just said in the other Bradford thread. After the combine and pro day Bradford won't even get near our pick. We will not even have the opportunity to draft him anyways.........
-
I predict even with the shoulder injury Bradford has been working out and eating and when the Scouting Combine rolls around he'll weigh in at 225 or more. Teams won't be as afraid of him being too thin a he'll never even get close enough for us to pick him anyways.

If it lands us Cody or Dan Williams I would do it. Hell to the yeah!
-
Just to add and agree a little with tennesseeboy, I live about 45 min south of Knoxville, so I've seen pretty much every Tenn game. I would love to land Dan Williams but no way would I use the #9 to do so. But, if there was a chance to redeem the McCargo screw up it would be to trade up to the mid twenties if Williams is still hanging around. The guy will never have a Haynesworth type impact (although it took Haynesworth a few years himself) but what Williams could add to the run D would be worth it. He is a true late round 1 talent, not a 3rd or 4th rounder like McCargo who Marv wanted to make himself look like Donahoe 2.0. If we want Williams or Cody, we will have to get back to around #25 to do so, and I would have no problem with it.

Because Bulaga is a good run blocker AND pass blocker. It's only because of how good his run blocking is that his pass protection gets forgotten about. He totally shut down the best pass rusher in this draft in GT's Morgan in the bowl game. I believe he can be a great LT, just not maybe hall of fame caliber like Jones, Pace and Ogden, who were part of a decade of unbelieveable LT's that you don't see very often.
-
If a certain chain of events unfolds, I repeat, if a certain chain of events unfold like: Somehow a LT like Jamal Brown or Marcus McNeil are allowed to hit free agency an we land one of em'......followed by Sam Bradford being available at KC's pick #5, I would offer a 2nd rounder in NEXT years draft, I repeat once again, NEXT years draft to switch spots with the Chiefs and if they agree, make the move to get Bradford. That is pretty much the only scenario I would do a trade up in. If that or a very similar situation does not play out, then no, I stay right where we are or entertain a good trade down offer.

I think Bulaga can be as good as Roos of the Titans in a couple years, and at #9, I think that is about perfect value. He'll probably never be the pass protector of a W Jones, Pace, or Ogden in their prime, but he'll still be pretty darn good there. As a run blocker though, he'll always be taking out guys at the 2nd level like Roos including a nasty streak, which is essential IMO. On the right tackle subject, if Merideth commits himself to the offseason program I think he could give Butler a run for his money and we should be fine on that side.

Trade back into the 1st for Williams or Cody. #9 is way too high for both but neither will be at #41. Too many other teams that pick before us in the 2nd need a NT as well( KC, Cleve if Rogers pouts his way out ) to name two....

which tennessee player will the bills pick?
JStranger76 replied to tennesseeboy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I live in Tenn and would not be against trading back into the late 1st to grab Williams. That is the only way we would get him. If Lynch is moved, I agree Hardesty would be a very solid choice in the 3rd round. When I watch him I see a Fred Jackson clone with maybe a little more speed.......... -
Which GT Player will the Bills pick?
JStranger76 replied to NY Nole's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If someone was dumb enough to offer a late 2nd for Lynch I'd love to add Dwyer as Jackson's change of pace, bruiser, and goalline back. Any of Morgan, Thomas or Dwyer would be a fine pick by me....... -
Keep him one more year, hope it's a good one, then trade his thug ass when his value is higher. There should also be less holes to fill next year if we do this thing right........
-
Sooo tough to solve everything in one offseason therefore I'd be fine if the main focus was to build the O-line into a dominating unit. I mean come on, wouldn't that suck for a change!!!! sarcasm button, where are you...? Bulaga and then someone like Iupati (only if he can play RT, I'm not sold at all) or Pouncy would be options........
-
Hampton or Pickett are the only two NT's who even have a chance at coming here. Don't even talk, start a thread, mention in a thread, or even whisper about any of the others. Hopefully we can get one of em', and draft his understudy in round 2 or 3..........
-
McNabb would get Evans a big year, but that's about it. All his other throws would be bounce passes to RB's and TE's.......He wouldn't take us where we wanna go. Do it the right way and draft a franchise QB this year or next.
-
ChanOverChin, Pos has already put on about 15 lbs of muscle since he's been in the league, he's right about 250. The 238 was his rookie weight. These guys do workout in the offseason.........
-
Exactly buffaloaggie. It would be a move only as a stopgap, just covering our bases type signing. We all want a LT, but we also need a QB, NT, LB, WR, LB, big DE........if OT is not the pick at #9, there may not be another OT worthy of a selection at our next draft slots so Tra Thomas holds the fort until round one NEXT year. News flash: We will not be able to fill every single need in one offseason, We need a LT,QB, NT,LB,WR,LB big DE, we will not be able to fill every single need in one offseason. Not that hard to understand.

Bills 3-4 Be Aggressive & Attacking
JStranger76 replied to Mr. ChumChums's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Me too dgrid. Or, worst case, Williams starts at first until a 2nd round NT catches up to NFL speed. -
Chris Ellis to be tried at LB
JStranger76 replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One more time I was joking rpcoloi. Like I said as 3-4 ILBers Pos and Mitchell are actually bigger than most tandems. I don't believe Schobel moves, I think they rotate him and Johnson. What we all should fear is Maybin and Ellis in pass coverage. -

Ice, do you think Kyle Williams could add about 15 lbs and spell a say.......Casey Hamton until we can draft a NT of the future? I don't think it's too far off. I mean, back in da day Jeff Wright at NT?!?!?! I don't think Williams would be too bad of a second wave option......... -
Chris Ellis to be tried at LB
JStranger76 replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm just taking a poke at all the posters who for whatever reason think Pos or Mitchell would be undersized in a 3-4. As for 3-4 ends manbeast, I didn't even mention them but am fully aware they are suposed to be about 295-305 lb space-eaters with a bonus being some athletic pass rush ability. I believe Stroud fits at LE and maybe, maybe a combo of Schobel and Spencer Johnson could get it done at RE. Unfortunately, we are putting faith in Ellis and Maybin to put up the big sack #s at OLB.........we'll see how that goes............. -
New 2 Round Mock Draft
JStranger76 replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, no holes could possibly be filled in free agency. WR is a very realistic option in round two. Brace yourselves...... -
Chris Ellis to be tried at LB
JStranger76 replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nobody. I was joking. Our projected MLBers are actually bigger than a lot of 3-4 MLBers. Look at the Steelers, Farrior about 245-250 and Timmons about 235. The Bills Mitchell 253 and Posluszny about 250. -

JStranger76 replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You mean like the 253 lb Mitchell and right around 250 lb Paul Posluszny? Oh yeah, all other teams except the Bills in the NFL have 275 lb inside LBers........ -
Listen Alphadawg7, there is no way anyone here could have ever crossed paths with a proffesional athlete. They live in secret societies and towns where nobody is allowed to visit. I believe you, but you're right, there are so many sadsacks around here that just think it's impossible to ever have known or know someone in the NFL.
