  1. At this point, I'm at least 90% sure the pick will be an offensive player. The only darkhorse candidates would be guys who project to OLB in a 3-4 like Sergio Kindle, Dan Morgan and Pierre-Paul. You can get the same type of NT in the 2nd round as anyone you would reach for at 9 so please, stop the NT at 9 talk.
  2. Him being injured last year, kind of tough to tell. I think this year with him playing a new position, you gotta watch him play some real games too see if he's the answer as a 3-4 end. He could be an absolute monster there or just average.
  3. I live in East Tennessee and have seen every Vols game folks...........STOP!!! The only reason people are calling for Dan Williams at 9 is because you've read he is the best NT prospect in the draft supposedly. This would be WAY too high for him. He'd be a nice player to have and all but he can't raise the level of a teams run D like someone like T Cody has. Williams didn't really even do that for his college team people, taking him top 10 would be a HUGE reach. He's also a one year wonder somewhat as he only had one good season and that was under ole Monte Kiffen in a 4-3 defense. If we had a pick in the late 20's sure, I'd like Dan Williams. But don't try and make yourselves feel better by thinking this is a chance to right the wrong of the Whitner/ Ngata disaster. Williams is not an elite prospect like that.
  4. Please don't compare Williams with Freeney. I agree, Kyle is a solid player but Freeney is a 4-3 end who is much faster with WAY better pass rush skills. I won't say we'll never see KW line up on the outside on a few occasions but IMO his value is much greater on the inside. He'll play the Kelly Gregg role and play it well. If we find a huge NT type to rotate with him, he'll be even more disruptive, which will be a good thing.
  5. The rotation Baby Joe Mesi said is the correct one. Castillo and Seymore are both way taller than Williams. Once those tackles with long arms get them on Williams he is done. It's cool though, because he'll be just fine at nose as long as he has a big mammoth-type to rotate with him. He'll still make his plays inside..........
  6. He is better than Foote. Similar athletically but is bigger and hits harder. Both guys you are always trying to upgrade their lack of speed, but Davis can definitely hit harder. Since there are 2 inside backers in a 3-4, it's not like you need Urlacher speed if you know your assignments.
  7. I know Byrd didn't play in that game. I'm not down on him, it was more of a knock on our corners. If anything, Byrd is even more valuable because of our average CB's. I'm very happy to have him matter of fact. But as an entire unit, all I was saying is they are very middle of the road.
  8. Actually, the entire secondary is overrated. Remember the opening game vs the Pats, Moss and Welker had like 25 catches between them? Yeah, great lockdown coverage. We don't have a single DB that WR's are losing sleep over facing. Don't overreact though and try and say I'm advocating taking a CB in the draft, cause I'm not. Just saying our secondary isn't that great, middle of the pack is about right.
  9. Could you bring your little dog back for my wife figo?
  10. I don't think it's been confirmed that Davis has even arrived yet. New rule at OBD though, no more Chris Brown talking to free agents, he just rubs em' the wrong way.......
  11. Even if the first pick was a LT who came in and played well? You guys make it out like we need 5 new lineman. I think if we hit on a solid LT we will be pretty good. Sure, RT may be a stopgap for now, but you never know someone like Merideth could surprise and take the position and do a good job.
  12. Did Chris Brown scare another free agent off? Details at 5. Back to you Murph.........
  13. I don't see how anyone with a lick of football sense wouldn't mind that scenario playing out. Not everybody would LOVE it, but you can't argue that 3 extremely important positions wouldn't have been addressed.
  14. He did 32 rep not 22. Must of been a misprint there. He also set Bama's bench record so yeah he obviously hates the weight room. Just more crap people are assuming because of a PICTURE. He looked pretty damn good at the end of the Tennessee game as well only blocking two field goals with one of em being the game winner.
  15. Don't be surprised if he goes as high as 18 to the Steelers. I could see them grooming him behind Hampton while at the same time take their defense to a whole new level. If all the OT's we like are gone at 9, I have no problem grabbing Cody in a trade down, just don't trade down too far........
  16. I blame it on that pole smoker Chris Brown.
  17. Because JPS after we most likely draft a LT with our first pick in the draft the line will probably be pretty decent and even though QB is still "unsolved" those "recieving threats" will come in handy. BTW Watson has become a pretty good blocker the last couple years and although he's no Antonio Gates as a reciever he can stretch the field with the best of em' and run a few other patterns too. Not every free agent makes sense because "I've heard of him" ( another gay ass TSW phrase), it could be because the guy can improve the team. There would also be no reason Nelson couldn't continue to grow and develope with another solid TE, there are formations known as 2 TE sets these days........
  18. Don't worry the plan is to be good by the year 2020! 10 more drafts and we'll have the best roster in football!!!
  19. Oh well, low risk high reward just must not work for the new administration. I mean, how much would it really have took? When he goes back to Minny I bet it's not that much.......
  20. Ryan Pickett as a 1st rounder, but other late bloomers include Hollis Thomas, Jason Ferguson, and even Dan Wilkenson to name a few.
  21. Very well said jahbonas!!! Many DT's share the same stories as well.......taken pretty high, didn't live up to expectations, bounced around from a few teams, and then in their late 20's-early 30's finally get all the little techniques down and become very solid players or at least run stoppers. I'm willing to give Kennedy a shot. We've had our share of high round busts, I wouldn't mind if someone else's worked out for us for once.
  22. After watching just about every Bama game the last two years I don't have any concerns with the "Cody ballooning to whatever weight" argument Thurman#1. Since highschool the guy has done nothing but improve and the "he'll take the money and eat" is the usual Stadium Wall dribble. Most around here know nothing about the guy and all this negativity is based on a picture. A PICTURE! Not what was done on a football field but again, a picture. This place is a true retard rodeo.
  23. Yeah but why not sign Watson as the blocking specialist who also would provide a serious threat down the seam at the same time? That way, when the blocking "specialist" comes in, teams aren't like oh....100% run, stack the box, no threat here. Don't even get me going on what we could of done with Watson and Nelson on the field at the same time......
  24. Who would also have been our best blocking TE too. Yeah, good thing we dodged that bullet.
  25. When he came out it was believed 3-4 DE would probably be his best pro position. That said, see if they release him then go for it, unless it's a 6th or 7th.
