We'll Be Drafting Our Franchise QB This Year
JStranger76 replied to Bangarang's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I could live with that draft. A very safe draft IMO. -
Gailey says while OT is not a crying need......
JStranger76 replied to JStranger76's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually Pilsner, right now Moats is horrendous against the run. Everone has him pensiled in as a starting OLB but the guy has a loooong ways to go before he can play all 3 downs effectively. As of right now he's a 3rd down specialist at best, and it ain't even that special. I'm hoping for a Merriman Quinn QB sandwich myself............ -
Bills franchise player ?

Franchise player? -
Ponder Fitz is two very intelligent guys with very average skills. So yeah, why bother. The stars just don't seem to line up for a QB of the future this year....

One thing I'd like to add to this thread is neither guy is capable 3-4 NT, end of story. IMO Fairley is a top 5 talent and Dareus a top 10. I like both guys but only Fairley at 3. The closest comparisons are Fairley/Seymore with higher upside and Dareus/Sapp, although a slightly lesser Sapp. Quinn is my extremly intriging pick.......very risky because of the year off but the potential to be the best defensive player in this draft. A definite roll the dice pick though......

Report: Dolphins NT Soliai to hit open market
JStranger76 replied to Marshmallow's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'll apologize for the caps in advance so...........PAY THIS GUY WHATEVER IT TAKES!!!!!!! The flexibility this signing would give us would be tremendous........ -
I am starting to lean towards Quinn myself. Play him at OLB or DE, I don't really care. Get one more NT and ILB in free agency and round two and that is a solid foundation for a great defense.
-
Actually John I thought Carrington showed more flashes vs. the pass than vs. the run. The good news is, Carrington was probably more ready physically, but just needs to learn technique. Oh, and Kyle will NEVER move to DE people, so please stop that s**t. Once Troup or another big body are good enough to get significant snaps as the "plugger" role, we can just bombard the hell outta the middle of the offenses we face with different styles.....
-
I think Nix wants to get bigger at inside backer more than anything. But we still need a LB who is swift enough to cover TE's too, so that guy may not be as big, cause they are hard to find.........
-
Sounds like Demarcus Love has stuggled so far in Senior Bowl practices. Was hoping he could be a 2nd round steal as a RT prospect. Still, it seems there are quite a few prospects who have a very bright RT future. Let's hope we land one of em'.

Peterson to Meet With Panthers Tonight

Carolina is planning on trying to trade down if they are interested in Peterson. Sorry to ruin the fun. -
Could Tommie Harris Play DE in a 3-4?
JStranger76 replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wilfork is about 50 lbs heavier than Harris Ditka, where the hell did you draw that conclusion? By the way, once teams started running all over the Pats (including the Bills) while Wilfork was lined up at LE, they quickly put him right back at the nose. The only way I'd want Harris here is if we were gonna play 4-3 most of the time, and that's if he hasn't burnt out yet. -
My off-season strategy, yours?
JStranger76 replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Replace your 1st move with either best RT available or best run-plugging NT type available. I love Mankins but we are not gonna target a G in free agency. Don't worry, someone else will sign him away from the Pats. I know, weaken them, strengthen us, just not happening. -
I would make Wanny the coordinator and donate Edwards big ass head to science. Surely it could bridge a gap somewhere in the evolutionary ladder.
-
Stock this team up with better players and nobody's gonna care who is on the coaching staff. It will also be fun to be a Bills fan again, which will be great for everybody.

What Scares Me About Blaine Gabbert
JStranger76 replied to Ennjay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My wife says if I watch anymore film of Blaine Gabbert I might actually turn into Blaine Gabbert. Seriously though, the guy better get his name legally changed before I can even handle the thought of him as a Bill....... -
While I believe we need a franchise QB badly, I'm not 100% sold on any QB who will be available. In conclusion, I second your list 110%. All you have targeted at their respective projections are just what the doctor ordered, including TE Kyle Rudolf in the 2nd. Already a very good reciever, this guy has the frame (6'5 265) to grow into a solid blocker as well. On board with your whole list.

Notes from the O-line (from Buffalo Rumblings)
JStranger76 replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes John but it's not like Bell was blowing open huge holes all over the place either. In the end, I believe we can get by with him as long as we truly upgrade the RT and TE position. Real solid players, not depth guys for other teams.......now let us pray...... -
Draft pick may be a battle between Nix and Gailey
JStranger76 replied to Madd Charlie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Came in seriously expecting to be the best pass defense in the league?!?!?! Are you for freaking real??? If anything this season showed what a bunch of pretenders this secondary is. If we had an above average front 7 we could probably get by with them but they are not even a strength on our team, never mind one of the best in the league. Anyways, I'm for a Bowers 1a, Mallet 1b followed by Fairley and Quinn. -
Oh, I agree. Also don't forget he had that huge 270 lb NT to protect him too! Great two down backer in his prime Conlan was.
-
Goodjob jboyst62. One thing though, Conlan was not much faster than Poz, if at all. Actually, he was pretty much a stiff himself.
-
I just hope we DO try and strengthen some other areas in free agency whether or not we bring Whitner back. That's what we should all REALLY be hoping for.
-
Wonderful topic and it should be pinned. I'd just like to add that many here also believe every other team has LBers that make all their tackles right at the line of scrimmage or even many for losses. Please allow anyone to add further angles on the subject and even add another TSW myth if you will.........this could get real interesting......... Oh sorry, I'll also agree that much of the blame should be placed on the D-line as well. LBers who can shed a offensive linemans block on a regular basis DO NOT EXIST. If I may, a myth I would like to add is every other team has a SS between 225 and 235 lbs who runs a 4.4 40, can cover, blitz, and is a run stuffing tackling machine.
