Can Sean McDermott Coach the Bills to a Championship?
Mark Vader replied to jethro_tull's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes, although there need to be changes made. -

Alright, let's see what happens the rest of the off season. Beane says one thing then does something different. We've seen it before. Will he just run everything back? Maybe, maybe not. Just have to wait and see.

The 13 seconds debacle was horrible because the Bills had the game won. However, everyone knew the Bills would be back and strong contenders for the Super Bowl. Yesterday was a nightmare because they were never truly in the game. McDermott knows how bad this looks, and cannot afford to just deflect from it. I hope that things are about to change at One Bills Drive.

I really like your thinking on this. I would be stunned if the Bills sign 3 O-Linemen in free agency. It's doable yet doesn't seem like they would attempt to pull it off. I think the reality is they sign 2 O-Linemen at the most, then draft one or two more. Signing Dalton Risner would be great, and Jawaan Taylor would be a solid pick-up. I'm hoping that Mitch Morse is still with us, but I understand if the Bills choose to move on from him. Would also like to see what Tommy Doyle has to offer.

Michael Thomas or Odell Beckham Jr.?

You have someone in mind? Who will be at pick 27 for the Bills? -
Jordan Poyer's time is done here. Sad to see him go, but we can't afford to give him big money. I would like to keep Tremaine Edmunds, just hope that we don't have to break the bank to do so. Re-sign Shaq Lawson, he played very good. I'd keep Sam Martin, unless the Bills want someone younger. Back-up players like AJ Klein, Bobby Hart, Ike Boettger & Dean Marlowe can be kept on the cheap.

1/23 Bills Media Availability - Coverage
Mark Vader replied to Beck Water's topic in The Stadium Wall
Definitely. Diggs wants to win, and he's sick of being in this situation the last few years. It's that simple. I think a lot of us can identify with that. I don't care about the outbursts on the sidelines, it doesn't affect his play. Remember when Hamlin was taken away in the ambulance, and the players were given 5 minutes to warm up in order to resume the game? We saw Diggs doing what he could to get the team motivated to continue playing. Diggs is a leader who just happens to hate losing a playoff game in an embarrassing way. He will have plenty of time to get over this and come back fighting to win it all. -
I remember that too. Bills fans are hilarious.

And the Allen haters are back, not that they ever left. It really is the off season.

Saffold said guys were "exhausted" this week and "out of gas"
Mark Vader replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
If this is an excuse being used by Saffold for why they lost, then I am not buying it. I saw effort from players like Josh Allen, Stefon Diggs, Dawson Knox, Matt Milano, Kaiir Elam & Tremaine Edmunds yesterday. There may have been some mental issues that the players were dealing with, but that's not why they lost. -

It's the truth. We still don't know why those officials intervened. The Bills lost crucial points because of it. You cannot deny that. -
I am not in complete unity with this "Everyone needs to be fired!" mentality on the board. However, I do agree that changes need to be made. 13 seconds was really tough to take, but yesterday was embarrassing. I cannot dismiss McDermott. His record is very good and he's done a great job in making the Bills contenders. However, McDermott needs to have more pressure on him going forward. We cannot tolerate what happened yesterday and act like everything will be fine. Brandon Beane is not going anywhere, and shouldn't be. He has a big task ahead of himself and big decisions need to be made. Primarily with the coaching staff. I'm confident that Beane will also make the right moves in free agency and I am not as hard on him when it comes to his drafts. I'm not saying that his drafts are perfect, but they are not garbage either. Leslie Frazier has got to go. I've seen enough. We have talented players on defense, but this scheme and approach has let us down in the playoffs. I understand the debate over who's defensive scheme this really is, Frazier's or McDermott's? Regardless of that, it's time to move on and find someone else to run our defense. Ken Dorsey is difficult to figure out. I'm not that big on giving up on someone after one season, but I wouldn't be upset if they did. What's difficult about the offense and their issues is figuring out the problems. Is it all Dorsey's fault? Does Josh Allen have to improvise all of the time? It's obvious that we need to fix the O-Line, and that we need help at Wide Receiver, but does that mean we need to fix our play calling to? Watching the offense this season was strange. We have an all-world talent at quarterback, but it appears that we have to depend on him and only him to win us games. In the long run, that cannot continue. If there is someone else who can do a better job of running the offense, I'm willing to see. As for the players, there are some who can leave and who can stay. I'm not going to bring down the players who have only been here for a year or two, because I believe that players like that deserve time to improve. As I stated earlier, we need to fix the O-Line. If Mitch Morse decides to retire, then we have a major problem. We really need help with our Guard positions. At Tackle, I think we are alright. We still don't know what we have with Tommy Doyle. Wide Receiver needs to be looked at greatly. We all know that Gabe Davis took a step back this year, and the Isaiah McKenzie experiment should come to an end. We really need someone to compliment Diggs. As far as defense goes, the biggest issue is Tremaine Edmunds. Do we keep him at all costs or let him walk. I like Edmunds, but if we let him go, so be it. Jordan Poyer has been a fantastic Safety for us, but his time is up. I'd like for us to keep Shaq Lawson, he played a lot better than I expected and he would be good depth. Really hoping that Micah Hyde does not retire, we cannot have two holes at Safety. That's all I've got right now. Changes need to be made, and I think the organization knows this. Yet, I don't think we need to blow it all up.

You mean the game where the back-up officials inserted themselves into a game, which they had no business of doing, and taking a special teams touchdown from us? -
Trade Diggs for assets and go to a more controlled ground game.
Mark Vader replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall
We heard this exact same thing last year. Diggs didn't do anything in last year's playoff game against the Chiefs, so we should get rid of him. Stupidity is frightening. -
So who do we lose to free agency this year?
Mark Vader replied to bills6969's topic in The Stadium Wall
Free Agents who can walk: Jordan Poyer Rodger Saffold Devin Singletary Jordan Phillips Case Keenum Taiwan Jones Tyler Matakevich Greg Van Roten Jake Kumerow Justin Murray Tommy Sweeney Jaquan Johnson Free Agents we could keep: Tremaine Edmunds. Can't think of who we could replace him with. Shaq Lawson. Played very good this season. Would welcome him back. Jamison Crowder. Injured all year, worth another one year prove it deal. Ike Boettger. Good depth. Sam Martin. Unless we look elsewhere for a Punter. A.J. Klein. Veteran depth and shouldn't cost much. Bobby Hart & David Quessenberry. Depth. -

Kelce was open all the time when they played us earlier this season. The Bills won that game. -
