I understand all of that. We just couldn't fill every hole all at once. Going into the draft our biggest needs were at QB & LB, and we only had so much money to spend in free agency. Yes, I wish we had targeted more O-Linemen in the draft, but I'm not upset about the picks of Allen, Edmunds & Phillips. We have to bite the bullet this year, even if it cracks all of our teeth. Next off season is when things will change.

Woods, Watkins, Hogan and Goodwin
Mark Vader replied to RPbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
By "everyone" I am talking about people on this board. Okay, it may not have been a unanimous 100% of the people on this board saying that, but it was clear that the majority of fans weren't exactly clamoring for the Bills to keep Robert Woods at all costs. There were many people here saying how Woods was nothing special, or that he was a great run blocker. Now all of a sudden fans are saying that we should have kept Woods no matter what. Where was all of this demanding from the fans when he was a free agent? I sure didn't see it. -
Beathard has a full year of learning in the NFL ahead of Allen. That is considerable. As for the 49'ers attempting to get better at the position.....They gave a five year $137.5 million contract with over $70 million guaranteed to a quarterback who has never played an entire season of NFL football. We shall see how that works out.

They used to do this on a more frequent basis, nice to see they still do.

Woods, Watkins, Hogan and Goodwin

Then you are the first person on this board that I know of to be in favor of it. When Woods walked everyone said the Rams gave him too much. -

So you both would have been fine with the Bills giving him the type of contract the Rams gave him? -
We aren't going winless this season, so how are we the new Browns?

I sincerely don't get all of the negativity.....

Let's take these players one at a time. Woods. I loved the guy. Was thrilled we drafted him. Wish he was still here. Although a lot of people on this board said he wasn't worth the money he was getting from the Rams. Would you have kept him with that contract he was getting? Brown had his moments but he also tended to disappear, that Steelers game still gives me nightmares. I don't miss him that much. Watkins. I was a big fan of this guy. I didn't care what we gave up when we drafted him. He just did not live up to his potential. I wish we could have kept him, but the money was not going to be justified. Hogan. I do not understand the love that Bills fans have for this guy. Especially when a lot of people on this board were saying how terrible he was. I don't miss him at all. Darby. Tough to say on this guy, because he was here for a short time. Apparently he did not fit the scheme. Would have been nice to keep him, but it just did not work out. Gilmore. Liked when we drafted him, but his attitude and his play during his final year really did it for me. He did not want to be here, and his "effort" showed it. Good riddance. I agree with you in that I would like to have some of these WR's right now, instead of who he have currently, but that's the bad breaks we got. It sucks! -
That settles it - the preseason means NOTHING
Mark Vader replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree. Remember the 2017 preseason? Everyone here was saying we would be lucky to win 3 games. We went to the playoffs. -
I re-watched the play when the Bills were 3rd & Goal at the 4, and Allen bailed out of the pocket too early. However, none of our receivers were open on that play. Zay Jones was open very late on the play and Allen threw to him but it was batted down. Had Allen thrown the ball higher, he might have had a touchdown, but that's a big maybe. Allen did not look as awful yesterday as some fans are portraying him to be. In fact he was doing good enough to win, and I believe they would have won had he not gotten hurt.

Yeah, but they've already done that this year when they went to Eugene for Oregon-Stanford.

Fair question.... One reason is because of draft status. Peterman was a 5th round pick & Allen a first round pick. Peterman was a projected back-up NFL QB, Allen a potential solid to good if not great NFL starter. Peterman has looked bad since he started playing. Granted he was dealt a bad hand and was thrust into the spotlight when he probably shouldn't have. Those interceptions has left all Bills fans with a bad taste, and they don't want to see anymore from him. It may be unfair, but that's how it goes. Many people feel that Allen can and will be the future of the Bills, myself included. He was given a bad deal and thrust into action immediately, when some of us wanted to see him holding a clipboard all year. That's not how it turned out and here we are. I personally hated the Peterman pick. Even though it was a 5th round pick. I saw nothing from him in his college career that convinced me he was going to be a starter in this league. Josh Allen was not my top QB in the draft this year, but I was fine with the Bills selecting him. He's raw, but I believe that he has good to great potential. I feel that Allen is progressing. Slowly, but progressing. I really think we would have won today, had he not gotten hurt. That pass to Benjamin was big and you could see that he was hyped and hungry and ready to go on the attack, but he had to accept that he was injured. That's the best way I can put it. Peterman got sucked into a no-win situation and now he has been stigmatized. He threw two very nice passes to Zay Jones & Andre Holmes today and then he threw two awful interceptions. The loss goes with him, that's a bad deal, but that's how it goes sometimes.

College Gameday is finally going to Pullman for Washington State Vs. Oregon!

First of all, I tend to wonder how seriously the Panthers saw Clausen as being the future of the franchise. The Bills clearly see Allen as the future and he deserves to be given as much time as he can, to be the future. Drafting another quarterback with a high pick would be a waste of time and resources.

Are the Bills covering up for Josh?
Mark Vader replied to PUNT750's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's probably Saviour Peterman in disguise. -
So we do not need help at WR or O-Line? Neither of those positions are a priority?
-
We don't have that kind of luxury. If you want to sign a veteran quarterback during free agency, fine. We have our quarterback of the future, and we have to build around him. We need receivers and offensive linemen and more defensive depth.
-
I said the same thing. Yes, Peterman stared him down and it was an easy play for the corner. Regardless, if that play worked, then it's what? A 6-7 yard gain bringing up 3rd down?! I don't get it.
