I understand your comparison, yet these are two completely different things.
Tebow was not attempting to be controversial, at least I don't think he was. He was definitely bringing attention to himself, and there were a good number of people who were furious with him. The anti-religion groups were saying that Tebow was trying to indoctrinate everyone with his religious beliefs. Yet I never saw him do such a thing.
Let's also remember that Ray Lewis in his final season was outspoken about being born again and praising Jesus after every victory, but no one said a word about his actions.
I just never understood the hate for what Tebow was doing. Look at how many times players come out of the tunnel and run to the end zone, take a knee and pray. People don't say anything about that, but Tebow was wrong for doing it.
I just don't get it.
