  1. Off to my Bills bar. Win and the division championship is yours. What more motivation do they need? GO BILLS!!!
  2. Yeah right, as if the Patriots* "Championships" weren't a stain on the shield already.
  3. Yes, he has. Wish we had a real Tight End out there to back-up Knox.
  4. Yes. You're point being?
  5. Show me all the photographs of every sporting event that had political slogans written on the field during the 1980's. And I don't go looking for them, they are in clear sight for everyone to see. Yes, I have noticed that not every single player does it. Now, what exactly do all of these slogans mean?
  6. Apparently you need to listen to yourself. I'll rephrase what I said before. I never saw political slogans on the field as a kid at a sporting event IN PERSON. Your examples do nothing to change that, all of those protests are not the exact same thing. I was born in 1973.
  7. They do not fit my political viewpoint. Do I think the flyover is political? No. Would I be upset if they did away with the flyover? No. I think the playing of the national anthem is a neat tradition. If they were to do away with it, I would miss it, but it wouldn't anger me. As for the other political/cultural statements that are being brought forth today, I could be more accepting of them, if I only knew the reasons behind them. There is no definitive answer for them, and it appears that no one wants to give a simple explanation for them. Is an explanation too much to ask for? I can accept this answer. It probably is political, in a certain way. Is the NFL benefitting financially for military appreciation week, or any other appreciation week that they do? If so, then there's the answer. In the end it's all about money.
  8. That's more cultural than political. If a flyover had signs that said, "Vote for this candidate", then it would be political. Would you consider the Army-Navy Game or any other sport amongst the military academies to be political statements?
  9. I never saw a flyover when I was a kid either. That's a political statement? I don't see how the singing of the Star Spangled Banner is supposed to be a political statement.
  10. I never saw political slogans written on the field when I was a kid.
  11. I agree that there is no way to separate sports & politics, it will always be there in some fashion. It's become far more prominent than in recent years, but maybe that will change. What I do not like is the messaging. It comes off in a very strange and confusing way. The NFL has the players place all of these slogans on the back of their helmets, or they place in the back of the end zones. "IT TAKES ALL OF US". What does that mean? Then there are the athletes who want to do better and bring causes to the forefront, which is good, but then the athletes don't do anything to make changes. Yes, they'll donate to charities, but we all know that not everything going to charity all goes to the cause. Some athletes will brush it off and put it on all of us to do all the hard work to make the changes. Their attitude is...."Hey, I brought the message, it's up to you now." Gee, thanks a lot. The one thing I was never clear on was the NBA and their painting "BLACK LIVES MATTER" on the sidelines of the courts. Was the NBA telling us to support the phrase or the organization? Two completely different things. Personally I wish there wasn't so much politics in sports, but that's how society goes right now. I'll still find a way to just enjoy sports and do my best to not let the politics bother me.
  12. You're welcome. I wanted to have something else from him listed here besides "In the Heat of the Night". I considered "Guess Who's Coming To Dinner?" or "Blackboard Jungle", but I felt this scene was just right. It took me awhile to appreciate "Lillies of the Field". My mom loved this movie, and as a kid I was bored with it at first, but it grew on me as I got older.
  13. RIP, Sir. Thank you for the great memories.
  14. Thanks for this. Always fun to re-read this thread. @GunnerBill How much heat have you taken for your comment?
  15. Absolutely right on this one. Now there are some fans saying that Greg Rousseau is a bust. Some fans will never be satisfied because they want instant gratification from a rookie. Remember all the fans who called Eric Moulds a bust? Sheesh!
  16. I would love to see them wear throwback blue jerseys with white pants and the red standing buffalo.
  17. During training camp, Josh Allen was mic'd up and he was wearing the red jersey with white pants. He said to one of the trainers that they should wear that combo for one of the games, and the trainer said that they can't because they would get in trouble.
  18. And the Dallas Cowboys playing in Arlington.
  19. They should save that for the playoffs Are the Bills obligated to wear the all red uniforms at least once during the season, or could they just choose not to wear them at all?
  20. Where in California were you? I live in California, and where I'm at it's hard to find gasoline that cheap.
  21. This was fun. Loved the chatter he was doing against Hughes, Poyer & Hyde.
  22. Let's hope for a streaker during the game
