No talk of the 'Housewives' finale?(spoilers?)
MadBuffaloDisease replied to The Poojer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Last weekend they said that in the finale, one of them won't survive. And when Rex and Bree started talking about working things out after his surgery, I knew he was a goner. Then it looked like he was in distress when he was writing the note. So I think he's dead. -

I wouldn't say that Mark Hamill's acting was good per se, but for me the true test of an actor's ability is making me care about his character. And I think that Hamill's approach in ROTJ was to portray quiet reserve because he had hatred and anger, but knew that those were paths to the dark side. And no one ever said Star Wars was supposed to be Shakespeare. -

More electronics. The Emperor was nailing Luke with the lightning several times, but merely Vader picking-him-up and being in contact with the lightning source (and why couldn't Vader use lightning?) was enough to kill him, so it leads me to believe that it short-circuited his electronics more than anything. -

Lying about what? The Plagious thing? That's what I thought later-on when Palpatine told Anakin that together they'd find the way to cheat death, when Palpatine made it seem like he learned it from Plagious before he killed him. But from the news on interviews, it seems that Anakin WAS created by Plagious or Sidious. And if that's the case, again I don't see why they didn't just create a son who would have been born into evil and would have no choice but to be loyal to his father. I can understand why they didn't know about Yoda (and again that would have made more sense than knowing he was on Dagobah but letting him live because he was impotent-look where THAT got them!), because you can't sense the force in other people unless they're in your immediate vicinity. That's why I don't have a problem with Vader not knowing Luke was alive until he met-up with him. But again I wonder why they kept Luke's surname as "Skywalker" since if you wanted to protect him, you'd obviously change such an infamous surname. And again I'd think you'd know your own daughter, or at least be able to sense the force in her, since the force was strong in that family (or so we've been told). -

This all has me thinking. I guess the underlying theme is that Plagious or Sidious created Anakin. But why? Or more precisely, why knock-up some random woman on some desert planet? Why not impregnate a woman (preferably a wife), do the midichlorian (I still think it's a dumb concept) thing to make him potentially the most powerful force-wielder ever, and teach him the dark side of the force, being that he's your son? Seems like a much safer way then the way it happened, especially since in either case you CHOSE to create life. If it was a matter of infiltrating the Jedi, you skip the teaching him the dark side stuff and send him to them as a boy, but since he's your son, you still have control over him. I don't know, I just think it makes more sense to have Anakin just happen to be born with a lot of Jedi potential, and that once he was discovered by the Jedi and thus Palpatine, had his life altered to direct him to the dark side. As for sensing Yoda, you'd think that Vader would have been able to sense Luke's (and why DID they keep his last name as "Skywalker," if they were trying to hide him?) presence long before he met up with him, or could have sensed that Leia was his daughter, while he was tortuing her at the beginning of Ep. IV. And I find it ironic that Palpatine laughed at Plagious for not being able to prevent his own death at the hands of his pupil, but the same thing happened to him. You'd think that if he had all this power, he would have seen that coming. And the lightning short-circuited Vader's life-support system, which is what was keeping him alive. It didn't kill him anymore than would have Vader bathing in a tub with a radio on the rim. -

The epilogue to that story is that the grapes later fall to the ground, the fox stumbles upon a group of other animals eating them and starts eating them himself, and then says "Yep, I was right." -

So they're on that ship for 18 years or so? Damn! Also I thought I heard Organa say to have their memories wiped clean. I guess that's why 3PO never acknowledges Vader, but that doesn't explain why Vader doesn't acknowledge 3PO (since Anakin built him). -

Shelton may be better than THEIR projected starting LT. Apparently the Bills don't think he's better than OUR projected starting LT. And I'd take McNally's word over Capers'. -

I was going to reply about the Darth Plagueis thing, but that was answered above. As for Leia's recollection of her mother, could it be of her adoptive mother, i.e. Mrs. Organa? And I thought that Windu used lightning on Palpatine, or turned Palpatine's lightning back on him, which led to the disfigurement? And I also thought that had Anakin not intervened, Windu would have killed Palpatine, and the disfigurement was the clue to that. -

If the Bills express no interest in him, it means they didn't want him in the first place. And the interest in him will drive his price up from the vet minimum to somewhere in the mid-$1M range. But the true test will be to see how Shelton does at LT with his new team, versus how the Bills' new starting LT does. -

I agree with what you said. I thought you were saying that Palpatine created Anakin or had knowledge of him prior to him being found by Quigon and Obi Wan. I think that once he WAS found and Palpatine knew of his potential, he orchestrated some of the things, like Anakin's mom's death. But I don't know if he planted the visions of Padme's death, or was the reason she died when physically she was fine (I believe the "she has no will to live" line), which is ultimately what drove him to seek out the powers of the Dark Side. -

Maybe I missed some things, and since I can't go back and see the first 2 without renting them, and probably won't see this latest one for awhile, clue me in a little more. -

Let's just say that we had to find something else to do and leave it at that. The boys are 2-1/2 and 4 years old. As it is I'm waiting until they're 5-1/2 and 7 before introducing them to episode 4, in the hopes that it leaves as great an impression on them as it did on me, because that's around the age I first saw the movie. Being that this one is darker, I'll wait until much later to show it to them. -

I'm sure several teams ARE expressing interest. But read that last line again about "signability" since he thinks he still should be making $3 a year. -
An "inside source?" Liar! J/K, even though I don't have inside knowledge of a group ready to buy the Bills, I've heard of enough interested parties (Kelly, Golisano, Wegmans, Rich) to know that there will be at least ONE owner (and that's all it takes) who CAN buy the Bills and will WANT to keep them in Buffalo, after Ralph dies. Whether they are able to buy the team (because the other NFL owners might not want to approve the sale of the team to a group who wants to keep it in Buffalo) remains to be seen, and if the new CBA with a cap based on total revenues but without sharing of total revenues takes effect, all bets are off.

The "highest authority" also gave us the Ewoks and Jar Jar Binks. Nuff said! Oh and he DID create the OT first. Why? I just think that the biggest thing with the OT was being introduced to, and learning to loathe, the most evil man in the universe (I still stand by that and still analogize the Emperor to Hitler and Vader to Goethe, since it's one thing to order horrible deeds to be done and another to actually DO them and ENJOY doing them), finding out he is the hero's father, and then seeing him rediscover the good in him because of the love of his son. The beauty of that storyline is what makes the OT so amazing IMHO. I mean the guy gave up ulimate power (it would only have been a matter of time before he eliminated the Emperor I believe), and in the process his life, for his son. That's real love! And once you view the NT, it brings some balance/closure to the reason he became Vader in the first place. That wouldn't make sense. It's either (episodes) 3-6 and then 1-3, or 1-6. -
Ralph didn't say anything we didn't already know. It was common knowledge that his daughters didn't want the team and would be forced to sell anyway, and that he can't force a new owner(s) to keep them in Buffalo. Now I don't know if he's saying that they won't or won't be able to sell the team to a group with interests in keeping the team in Buffalo, because I've heard of several groups who are interested in buying.

Why isn't Shelton a Bill yet?
MadBuffaloDisease replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
McNally knows what he's doing. If the Bills would rather go with Gandy over Shelton, so be it. The option has been and still IS there to pickup Shelton (and there was also an opportunity to draft Barnes), and if the Bills don't pull the trigger, it means they don't think much of him.
