Shelton is getting lots of attention
MadBuffaloDisease replied to VABills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That remains to be seen. And I doubt you'd find many people who would agree with you that a sack, 30 of them no less, is worse than a holding penalty, much less a false start penalty (which made up the majority of penalties for both). True, IF that was really offered. Again I seriously doubt it was, because the Cards could have taken that 2nd next year and traded it for a 3rd THIS year, seeing as how they wanted picks THIS year. And if they refused such a deal, they are idiots and thus couldn't appreciate Travis' worth. And again, it was Travis for Shelton and a swap of 2nd's which is worth a early 4th round pick, which is MUCH higher than a 6th round pick. But in the end, the Bills might end up getting a 3rd rounder for Travis, maybe even a 2nd. We'll have to wait and see. -

You have any links for that Chicago deal? I seriously doubt the Cards would have left a 2006 2nd rounder on the table for a guy they were going to cut anyway. And the Cards WERE going to trade Shelton and swap 2nd's for Henry, so that right there tells me something more than a purported trade that seems highly unlikely. We went over this. Sacks are FAR worse to give up, because it not only involves a loss of yardage, it also always involves your QB getting hit and a loss of down. Shelton gave-up 42% more sacks than did Jennings. That's not good. -

Hmmm. Believe one opinion from someone NOT in the NFL, or the 31 clubs who wouldn't trade a draft pick for Shelton, considering he is allegedly as good as Jennings but would have cost half as much? I'll be surprised if Shelton breaks $2M a year average on his new deal with his new team. -

I don't know. A contract IS a contract. And players don't voluntarily GIVE UP money after a particularly bad job, do they? And with the system the way it is now, even if they DO do a bad job and get cut, their bonus money has already been paid to them. -
The Bills were ALSO Travis' favorite team growing up. I believe it, because they were a fun team to watch when these guys were just kids. The fact that they WERE their favorite team, despite them losing all 4 SB's, is pretty amazing though, since kids usually go with the front-runner just to fit in with the crowd, unless they live in the vicinity of a team.

Interesting rumor from Sportsline

I doubt the Bills would offer him a starting job, so trading for him would make even less sense. -
I have to admit for the first time....

Too skinny, no boobs, and I still think she has a "butterface." I'd hit it for the money and/or free hotel stays. -
Minor KFFL Bills blurbs

Yes but again, those have been at the more demanding CB position. Rod Woodson had injury problems his last few years at CB and everyone thought he was done, switched to S and played for several more years. -

Vincent got hurt playing the more demanding CB position, and from what I recall, it wasn't that he got hurt for no reason, I think he was bent at an awkward angle or something like that. Wire I agree is finished as a starting safety, but Baker I think can be a future starter. Howell would replace Wire, but if he's little more than a ST'er, it's better to keep Wire. -

Players should hold out prior to every game. You never know when it will be your last. -

You don't have to be. That's what the coaches, specifically McNally, are there for. -

Williams sounds like he's holding out for more money. The heart of the matter with Travis is that he refuses to play for the Bills. There's a big difference. -

Except that TH might want to stick it to the Bills and say "give me a ton of money" or continue to threaten to sit-out for the 1st 10 games. Basically I'm writing-him-off for any meaningful production for this season for the Bills. -

Trading for a player who is holding out isn't a smart idea, IMHO. -

Why would any team give him more than $3M a year, when they could have traded a late pick and gotten him for that amount with NO signing bonus? And the market and draft were weak for LT's, unlike what it was for RB's. I just don't see him making more than $2M a year, despite the interest of a few teams (the Bills not being one of them, as has been mentioned). -

I don't see him sitting out THIS year. His numbers weren't all that great last year, but show a lot of promise. And Rosensleaze's clients that are sitting out are either new clients he lured with the promise of a new contract, or old clients who had career years. I guess last year could be considered a "career year" for Willis, but I'm sure he has his heights set higher. -

I'm hoping what was cut ends up on the 2nd (or 3rd, or 4th) DVD when it's released! -

Keep 'em crossed. The longer the Bills wait, the better the market will be. More RB's will get injured, just watch. Not wishing it on anyone mind you, just saying it happens every year. -
I hate articles that speculate on...
MadBuffaloDisease replied to SF Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If the NFL goes ahead with the salary cap based on total revenues without total revenue sharing, they'll kill the league. They're already seeing their future being hurt by youngsters who would rather watch wrestling, but making it an uneven playing field would only serve to drive fans in smaller markets who can't compete financially away from the sport. Anyone think the Sabres would have a larger following if they weren't handcuffed, financially? But the arsehole greedy owners only care about themselves and the present, future be damned.
