  1. Sure it did! More than a few guitarists to come along after EVH were heavily influenced by him, which is why I can't believe he was ranked in the 70's in that BS top-100 thing.
  2. Correction. They ALREADY offered a 5th during the draft, when Chris Brown was still healthy. The compensation has gone up, and if the Bills were just looking for a 5th (much less a 6th ) he would have been dealt already. As for the Jags, they can wait for as long as they want. I'd rather not send Travis to them, because without a running game, they're a longshot at best for the playoffs.
  3. The list is totally disjointed. Is it top-100 most influential? Technically proficient? Bluesy? Best song-writers? Sadly that list doesn't fit ANY of those. I'd say it's the top-100 guitarists who were randomly drawn from a hat. I'd also add Eric Johnson. It takes him about a decade to put out an album, but he's probably the most technically gifted guitarist I've heard, and that includes Petrucci.
  4. Since you have experience with selling cars, I'd stick to that and try it out during summer vacation. She how it goes. If it goes well, continue with the teaching job and selling cars part-time, and them make the switch next year.
  5. There are several here who want to do the same with Travis.
  6. Hmmm, the old "50-50" thing, like with the weather: "it might rain or it might not." Way to go out on a limb. Must be using VA's buddy for this nugget.
  7. Put it this way. There is a glimmer of hope, but I won't hold my breath on this happening. It would give the Bills a great trio of WR and potentially a great quartet. But things like that never work out for the Bills.
  8. Freakin' discounted judging!
  9. Peerless reportedly said in a radio interview that if he were to get cut, he'd want to play in a system like Buffalo's, if not for the team itself. He said he's been keeping an eye on the team and still has some good friends, and saw how well Lee did last year. He also said he knows he won't get a big money deal this time around. So going by that, it seems like a return to the Bills to be no better than the 2nd, and probably the 3rd WR, wouldn't be out of the question for him. But there are probably other teams, like the Cowboys, who would be willing to pay him a little more. It will be interesting to see where he ends up and I'd love for him to come back to Buffalo for the right amount, but I know it will never happen.
  10. Who needs the Autobahn for that? I did that back about 18 years ago in my dad's Porsche 944 turbo going from Rochester to Batavia. The cool thind is my dad was sitting next to me!
  11. Individual players don't single-handedly lose games for teams. That's been the argument for Bledsoe and it applies to Travis as well. And Travis didn't lose ANY games for the Bills in '04 any more than a new coaching staff and scheme did. The fact that NO RB's were traded, even guys like Alexander and James, leads me to believe that no one wanted to give-up a draft pick plus the large salary they would be demanding. Jordan was an UFA and was ridiculously overpaid, since again he's proven nothing in the NFL, but that's the Raiders for you. I also think that NFL GM's were expecting the Bills to outright release Travis because he's threatened to sit-out and is now viewed as a cancer. But I think Floyd Reese's comments on TD wanting to keep Travis as leverage has opened their eyes, and after that you heard the Titans' owner Bud Adams talking about how he wants him. Again it's gamesmanship and the Titans are trying to get him for as little as possible, but they know he's a good RB.
  12. If I had a daughter (and while she'd be the apple of me eye if I had one, I'm sort of thankful that I don't since the teenage years would kill me!) and especially if she were drop dead gorgeous, I wouldn't want ANY boy around her. And I think you would have taught your daughters better than to lie about their age in order to proposition men at gas stations, much less after running away from juve. I also wouldn't be surprised to learn that you know a guy or two who's unwittingly slept with a minor, thinking she was legal. As for Travis, the only thing I can fault him for is his blitz pickups (although Bledsoe's immobility didn't help here much). He's a good, hard runner who has improved on his fumbling tremendously, he's an able pass-catcher, and he's a total team player (current situation excluded for obvious reasons). Sure he slipped on 3rd and 1 against the Pats; who doesn't? He's also shown determination like that second-effort against the Raiders that should have scored a TD, but which wasn't caught by the zebras or the coaching staff. And again when you consider what some RB's have been traded for (e.g. Lamar Gordon), and have cost their teams (e.g. Lamont Jordan) while doing nowhere NEAR what Travis has done, I think he's worth a lot more than you do.
  13. I was going to post that but got sidetracked. I remember someone seeing on ESPN a few weeks ago that Everett had a partially torn ACL, not a fully torn one (which would require "major reconstruction" I assume), so I guess he was right. BTW, I still think he doesn't see the field this year, but better news, nonetheless.
  14. Eric Kuselias was talking on ESPN radio on Friday about how DP would have to finish higher than 9th to be worthy of all the hype, since 9th is the highest a woman (Janet Guthrie) has ever finished at Indy. I thought that was a lot, since I don't think that Guthrie was a rookie, but finishing 4th (where she started) is pretty damn impressive no matter WHO you are, much less a 20-year old 5'2" 100# rookie woman.
  15. Hey, if I WERE Nostradamus, I wouldn't be sitting here writing to you. I'd be telling Tom Donahoe that I want Travis off my team ASAP, and for a high draft pick! I also suspect that if you were as much of a Nostradamus WRT the Pats as you think, you'd have made a pile of cash these past 4 years (okay, 3 of the last 4 years), and would have already laid down your bets for THIS year. As for BiNYC and VA, they're good posters for the most part, but their obsession with Travis is unnatural and speaks to a personal dislike that was there well BEFORE he felt threatened by Wills and threatened to hold-out. I'm big into psychology and like to paraphrase Hannibal Lechter's "what does he do, this maaan you seek?" But personal dislike IS a better reason to think that a 1400 yard 12 TD back is worth a 5th or 6th round pick than any other reason I can think of, and no "he sucks" doesn't cut it.
  16. So let me get this straight. The Lamar Gordon and Herschel Walker trades were bad, but the Marshall Faulk (who elevated his play to HOF status while with the Rams) trade for a 2nd and 5th rounder was a GOOD trade? How about the Ricky Williams trade, that cost the Dols 2-1st rounders for 2 seasons of play? What about Corey Dillon for the last pick of the 2nd round? Jerome Bettis for a 2nd rounder? Notice a trend here, dude? None of them were "good" trades for both parties. I'd dare you to find a trade that WAS equitable for both parties, instead of being better for one side based on the circumstances. And for the record, I haven't talked about Travis being worth a 1st rounder since last year, i.e. BEFORE I knew the RB market would be oversaturated and that guys like Alexander and James could be had for just 2nd rounders (and according to your logic, surely they're not worth more than 3rd rounders because they didn't get traded). Getting back to Lamar Gordon, the REASON I chose his examle is because, unlike the other RB's mentioned above, he was traded AFTER the draft, when a team lost a starting RB and panicked into giving-up more than they wanted. Sure it was a bad trade for Miami, especially considering Gordon's CAREER rushing stats don't even match-up to Travis' ROOKIE season (just like Lamont Jordan's career stats don't measure up to Travis best SINGLE season, but look what HE got!). And as we've seen, several teams have seen their starting RB's go down already, and as is usually the case, more are sure to follow. And it's not like Gordon was some rocket scientist either. You are "clearly incorrect" if you think Travis' worth is a 5th or 6th rounder. Name me the number of 5th or 6th rounders in NFL history that have rushed for almost 2800 yards and 24 TD's in back-to-back seasons, versus RB's picked in the 4th round or higher. That sound you hear is laughter. Letting Travis go if they don't get anything for him would be the stupidest thing they COULD do. It's so inconceivably idiotic that I previously refrained from responding to it and will do no further than what I've already just said about it. Frankly it's more about being proven right than using any sort of common sense. I'm sure VA and BiNYC (you don't count since you're a Patsy fan and would love nothing more than to see the Bills cut Travis without getting anything in return) would derive some perverse sense of eogmanical satisfaction over Travis getting released, but I suspect that's more because they have a personal vendetta against him, most likely I'd wager because they have underage daughters and think he's a threat to them.
  17. A related rant is people who fly like a bat out of hell to cut you off, like coming out of a parking lot or making a right on red, and then go below the speed limit.
  18. I SERIOUSLY hope this is false. If they're looking at Turley, it means they're not too happy with the LT position. :oy:
  19. Uh, didn't the Dolphins draft Ronnie Brown? I've always found Lindy's to be the most enjoyable football rag. Even in the age of the internet, I still (will) plunk down $6-7 for it.
  20. So you're saying that, since Travis allegedly can't grasp an NFL playbook quickly, his value has now DECREASED from the 4th rounder that was offered during the draft? Once again, I guess we'll see.
  21. I like her "equipment" as well. Hopefully she wins and pulls a Brandy Chastain.
  22. Even if your premise were true, Henry is not one of those running back options that will go "up" in value because he's not an intelligent player and can't just step onto a roster and learn an offense quickly. That's the type of RB that has value in a training camp scenario. Oh, really? You have evidence of this viewpoint, as told to you obviously by NFL GM's? Let me put this simply for you. The Dols were desperate for a RB after RW left them high and dry. So they panicked and traded for a backup RB, and offered a 3rd rounder. As I said and despite your evidence to the contrary, some teams have seen their starting RB's go down with injury, so odds are the Bills will be able to unload Travis for at least a 3rd, since that's what a player of his caliber merits. Chris Brown will still be injury prone and Fred Taylor likely won't be able to start the season, so those situations won't improve. And there are sure to be other injuries, as there always are every year.
  23. Lose some weight then, fatty! Oh and BTW, she's also potentially less equipped to handle a long road race.
  24. The kids were having fun with you. Not condoning it since it's a childish (and potentially dangerous) thing to do, just explaining what was going on. You shouldn't have tried it a 2nd time because you knew they were going to do that again. Next time, give it a shot. If it doesn't work, forget about it because 5 MPH less save you a ton of time, and it MIGHT get you killed/shorten your lifespan.
  25. Hey, this is WB's chance! Go for it, froggie!
