  1. Yet there they were, giving up a larger cap and a year's worth of salary. It was greed AND stupidity on their part. For the majority of owners who were losing money every year, it was less about greed than survival. But the larger market owners are still greedy, which is why there isn't a hard and equal caps for all teams, and THOSE are the guys who should be horse-whipped, along with the players.
  2. Actually their PREVIOUS salary was in that range. The NHL has lost a lot of revenue and what the smaller markets could afford before they probably won't be able to now. But it might be a matter of spending until it hurts to field a winning product to win over the fans.
  3. True, but the owners made out on this deal, in spades.
  4. Paying less and getting a smaller portion size, what a concept! Won't fly in this "super-size" e society. Oh wait! And something tells me Quiznos will be lessening the quality of their food once they gain even the tiniest blip of the market. That's the way it always works. It's called "adapting." I'm sure if Subway continued to lose market share and DIDN'T start toasting their subs, you'd be criticizing them for NOT doing so. And I'd be willing to bet that the ass kicking will be going to other way now. The Quiznos that opened near me is dead compared to the Subway, and compared to when it first opened. BTW I like both, even though I haven't had a toasted Subway sub yet.
  5. Probably, which leads me to believe it's NOT about money except when it comes to playing for a crappy team.
  6. I'd be willing to bet he gets more than Shelton got.
  7. Hey, when the asking price for him (and James for that matter) was even a 2nd rounder, he should have been traded. The issue has and always will be price for him (and James), and the fact that he (and James) have logged a number of carries in his career.
  8. This just in...Jags deny Fred Taylor had surgery. All is well. ALL IS WELL!
  9. I think you meant Miami.
  10. For the NASCAR ignorant, is that what they do (i.e. put the adds on as well) for say, a Jeff Gordon jersey?
  11. As I mentioned in the other thread, Bruno was only going to vote yes if the IOC awarded the 2012 Olympics to NYC. So why take a vote before they made the decision? Frankly I hope the IOC chooses someone else (Paris) soon and just nails the final coffin in this whole farce.
  12. Well then, let's hear from a cop. Anyone?
  13. Every situation is different. Like I said, there were 2 cops and 1 woman, and the cop had ample time to size-up the situation.
  14. She stopped sleeping her way to the top AND doing nude scenes? ;doh; Dang, forget about seeing HER in anything more...except for maybe Playboy.
  15. It's not a black, white, red, or blue thing. It's a lack of respect thing that's pervading this country. If I were the cop, I wouldn't have pulled the TASER, especially with another cop next to me, because of the threat of a lawsuit primarily. Now had she pulled something like a knife or a gun, that's a different story. But I don't know if this is something that's being taught now to the officers and is acceptable. I guess we'll find out.
  16. It's not a matter of "need." As long as there's someone richer than him, and even then, he'll want more, more, more.
  17. Good for Silver! Also with Bruno holding out for the IOC to grant the 2012 Olympics to NYC (low odds of this happening), this thing likely ain't going through.
  18. You expect Portis to honor a contract?
  19. I say go for it.
  20. Like kasper said, ads all over players' uniforms is coming down the pike. And the outrage will be there initially, but after awhile it will be just another part of the game that we've gotten used-to. Hey, if it's a way to increase revenue and keep the Bills in Buffalo, I'm ALL for it. And sure the integrity of the game takes a hit to some degree, but when the NFL decides to do it, all the other major sports will follow suit (so to speak), and join NASCAR and the rest of the world (read: soccer).
  21. She deserved something, but I think hauling her out of the car and slapping cuffs on her would have been enough. Zapping her with a TASER is sure to be a lawsuit.
  22. After reading the circumstances, I don't believe it's as bad as I first thought. But what he did was stupid.
