OT: Just moved in with my girlfriend
MadBuffaloDisease replied to WillisMcThrillis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The worst thing I can think of is my wife leaves me for another guy. Now HOW in the hell am I supposed to forgive her for that?! But as some of you may remember, I told my wife I'd kill her if she ever cheated on me, and that's worked so far. -
Why would he need to come in a second time? The Bills saw him the first time around. It's not like much was going to change, unless he failed the physical back then (which I didn't hear that he did). If the Bills were interested, they could have easily ponied up say, $1M in base salary and a $550K signing bonus, and told him he'd be their starting LT, and would be playing for a MUCH better team than the Browns. But they didn't.

JAX/PITT proposal for Revenue Sharing
MadBuffaloDisease replied to MartyBall4Buffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The difference is that the NFL as a whole knows their own business. They know what revenue is generated and what expenses there are. You can bet that Jones won't allow Kraft or Snyder, and vice versa, to cook the books at their expense. -
McNally's not missing anything. He's the only one I care about. But I guess we'll see, depending on whether they go after Verba or not. We already know they passed on Shelton, several times.

Another player with Rosenhaus as his agent?
MadBuffaloDisease replied to richNjoisy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Pats are about as likely to get a 1st for Seymour as the Bills are to get one for Henry. The trades of 1st rounders haven't been going all too well as of late (Ricky Williams, Luvyeranus Coles, Bledsoe to a degree even though it netted the Bills another 1st in trading Price, which was also a bad trade) and trading away a 1st and giving him tons of money doesn't sit well with many teams. Donahoe never overplays anything. He fleeced the Falcons for Price. And the Bledsoe trade as I mentioned recouped the 1st rounder spent on him, and was used to pick a future superstar (McGahee). Not only that, it brought credibility back to the Bills. WRT Henry, he's not going to give away a good RB for peanuts, and if that's "overplaying his hand," you don't have a concept of negotiations and/or value. -

It's less about an individual player than lost playerS and coaches. It's over. Enjoy the past 4 years. -

Seymour probably won't fetch much. Teams aren't all that into trading away high picks for good players with high salary demands. Just look at Edge, Alexander, Corey Simon, etc. And the Pats will still be a good team, just not a championship team anymore. Hey it happens. Just as 49'ers, Cowboys, and Broncos fans. -
LJ Shelton's salary
MadBuffaloDisease replied to MadBuffaloDisease's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lots of views, but no replies. Hmmm. Oh and another thing, the Browns offered the best deal to Shelton. That means the other teams offered minimum salary and/or little to no signing bonus. -
His base salary for this season is $950K. Considering players never get more than half their salary in a signing bonus, I'd wager at most he got a ~$500K signing bonus. I'll look-into it more, but it appears he'll at best be making half of what he was supposed to be making. http://www.nflpa.org/members/playerProfile.asp?ID=27033

As the Germans say, "too soon old, too late smart." -
Another rosenhaus player
MadBuffaloDisease replied to stuckincincy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They did. Rosensleaze lured them to him with the promise of a new contract. And I wouldn't call CJ getting paid over $5M a year as being "underpaid." Hell I think he's making more than Owens is. -
Even though I became a Flutie critic, there was a big difference between him and RJ back there. Maybe it was more football smarts than mobility, but the mobility sure didn't hurt. He just didn't have the stamina to keep things going. I also wasn't too thrilled with what I saw, but the difference is that Losman was a rookie coming off an injury, playing against the eventual world champs, and in a situation in which they could tee-off on him and for which he admitted he hadn't prepared. It was a good wakeup call and so far he's been doing everything right. Now he needs to succeed on the football field, but if he fails, it won't be for a lack of effort.

Sporting News has Bills in Reverse
MadBuffaloDisease replied to Tolstoy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
First of all, Belichick made that comment several years ago when the line WAS "for sh--" and they had lousy coaching. That's no longer the case and coaching can go a long way, as the Patriots themselves have proven. Also a mobile QB is a bigger headache for DC's than an immobile one. But even still, since JP is a rookie starter, I expect the Bills to take a page out of the Pats' playbook and use him like they did Brady in 2001, i.e. to hand-off and throw short safe passes, while relying on the running game, defense, and good ST's mostly. Who says our line is not strong enough now to gain yards against a defense playing the run? Big Mike, Villarrial, and Anderson are beasts in the running game. Teague is improving (although I'd like to find someone better), and Gandy is a good run-blocker from what I've read. Plus Willis should be better in his 2nd year as a starter and there appear to be more weapons at WR. -

I've started putting the seat cover down before I flush because I've heard that the swirling of the toilet sends water droplets flying everywhere (ewwww!). So she too has to lift something, although for a different reason. -

MadBuffaloDisease replied to Tolstoy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With...whom? A 2nd round rookie LT, assuming they traded up to get Barnes? Yeah, that's what you want protecting a rookie starting QB. As for DT, they have Edwards and addressed DT in LAST year's draft. -
The line will be fine in run-blocking. Anderson will be a huge (pun intended) upgrade in that department, and Big Mike being in better shape along with him and the other 2 returning starters having a year under McNally will only help things more. I'm not even so worried about pass blocking since with JP's mobility, I think they'll use a moving pocket if LT proves to be a problem.

OT: Just moved in with my girlfriend
MadBuffaloDisease replied to WillisMcThrillis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I assume you think she's the one, if you're making the step of moving-in with her. In the past people said that people who lived together had a higher divorce rate if they got married, but I think a "trial run" is probably the best idea in these times. That being said, my advice is: don't sweat the small stuff. Things each of you do will annoy eachother, but if you talk about it, you can work it out. Also, remember to leave the toilet seat down. For some reason, women don't like wet ass, and are either too lazy to put it down themselves, or as my wife likes to claim it's for the (blue-moon) occasions on which she has to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and just plops her fanny straight onto the john without checking to see if the seat is down or not (it's happened, and believe me, it's FRIGGIN' HILARIOUS!). Good luck. It won't be easy, but nothing worthwhile ever is. -
I think that except for LT, the starters are Anderson at LG, Teague at OC, Villarrial at RG, and Williams at RT. Maybe Teague moves to LT and someone moves into OC (Preston?), but that would be my guess, and Gandy would be starting LT.

They meant Titans, so consider the source.

JAX/PITT proposal for Revenue Sharing
MadBuffaloDisease replied to MartyBall4Buffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sure it would. When considering the difference between the highest and lowest currently being $140M, you have to realize that the smallest revenue teams still are making a good amount of money under the current system, and make a good amount of money outside of what is shared. And the top 6 teams alone make about $500M collectively in non-shared revenue, so considering that about $155M would be shared among the 31 other teams (about $5M a piece) plus the 66% they get from their local revenues, and it should be enough to make things work. And I'm sure Weaver and Rooney wouldn't have proposed it if it didn't help them out. -
Another player with Rosenhaus as his agent?
MadBuffaloDisease replied to richNjoisy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He probably will. His career was made by Belichick and he's made a ton more money than he would have elsewhere. That's a recurring theme with many Patriots players, i.e. being made by the coaching staff. Seymour however is a very talented player who obviously saw what Brady got and wants a piece. -

I agree. Even though these owners built their new stadiums probably already having their debts covered (in the form of long-term sponsorships), this would be equitable for all involved. -

And so it begins... Loss of great assistant coaches, Brady's deal giving him higher cap hits than ever before, and the other great players starting to want a piece of the action. Oh well, it was a miraculous run while it lasted. -

Ah, Dick Cheese. He does a version of U2's "Bullet the Blue Sky" (which BTW is the best U2 song ever) which is pretty funny in a Weird Al sort of way. -
agreement for salary cap
MadBuffaloDisease replied to Corp000085's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, compared to the past, I'd take a difference in payroll of $2M anyday. Except that I don't think it will be that little, unless they agree to share a large portion of the revenues, which I doubt.
