  1. I've heard that as well. So maybe it WASN'T "luck" that made the Packers DB drop that potential INT?
  2. You can't really sneeze at (in reality) 60% completion, no turnovers (even though there was almost one, it doesn't count), and no sacks.
  3. Thanks. I think it makes perfect sense. You don't want Matthews for his play, just his brains. Make him an assistant QB coach and go with someone with potential, or at least potential to help in other areas. Like I mentioned with Tom Tupa, who was the punter and 3rd QB for the Jets, it's been done before and makes use of a usually wasted roster spot.
  4. I didn't know that. If true, that explains a lot and makes that play a great decision.
  5. Well that's the difference between perception and reality. The reality is that Evans WAS being interfered-with and SHOULD have drawn a penalty. Maybe it IS missed in a real game, but it still doesn't mean that it would be any less illegal and a bad non-call by the refs.
  6. Hell, if they want to keep Matthews as a mentor, make him an assistant coach. Oh and as for developing a QB but Woodbury not being it, who else is there?
  7. It was the 1st drive, where he threw the ball to Evans and the announcers even talked about how there was illegal play by the CB and would have been a flag. On replay you could see the DB's hand around Evans' waist, which is illegal. The 2 throws that were short weren't "bad decisions," they were bad throws. There's a difference there. But again the pass that was almost INT'd WAS a bad decision. And on the play where he threw to Reed, I'm sure he didn't see that he was out of the endzone, but he put it where only Reed could get it. So his bad decision was not running it in, but I'm thinking he heard the "pass first, run second" voice in his head.
  8. I'm LMAO at anyone who thought JP looked bad. Really, were you watching the same game? Going 6-10 (really since that Evans incompletion was PI), not really getting sacked, and only making one really bad decision that didn't cost him anything?
  9. Uh dude, you did that in your OTHER post.
  10. That one HAD to be on Teague. Roscoe was in motion and Teague almost hit him with the ball, and that right there told me Teague snapped it too early.
  11. Look at it this way. JP was really 6-10 throwing (that incompletion to Evans should have been PI), wasn't really sacked (early whistle on the play that was ruled a sack), and only made one really bad mistake with that almost INT. His decisions on his other incompletions were sound, including throwing to Reed rather than running it in, but it was a matter of misfiring/poor footwork.
  12. I thought he was good, but it was hard to tell if it was really him or because the cameramen were fooled as well and followed the RB.
  13. JP's decisions for the most part were fine. Outside of that bad throw that was almost INT'd (but wasn't) and deciding to pass to Reed instead of running it in for a TD (damned if you do...), his decision-making was fine. Don't confuse missing his WR's a couple of times as being "bad decisions." Oh and the Pack will have a MUCH-improved defense this year under Jim Bates.
  14. JP was really 6 for 10, since that pass to Evans he missed on the first drive was at least holding, if not PI. It also could have been a TD. And the "almost INT" was bad, but it wasn't an INT and was a learning point for JP. Better to see him do that in pre-season. And I thought Gandy looked REALLY good. Here is what KGB had to say about him:
  15. Well the Eagles were willing to deal Simon for a 2nd and 3rd rounder around draft time. I'd say Josh is worth a 3rd rounder, and add in another 3rd rounder and you'd have an appropriate drop in trade demands after so much time has passed and no one else is interested. But again, I doubt it happens and I'm sure Simon wants WAY too much money.
  16. Well, the Pats have done alright taking other teams' rejects. But when a guy like Brown admits to having trouble with the playbook, that's not good, and I'm sure Beisel isn't breezing through it either.
  17. Maybe a practice field could be named after Hunter. But the stadium's naming rights WILL be sold sometime in the near future. In an effort to appease the Synders and Jones, that's one of the moves I see Ralph making, even though he really doesn't want to do it.
  18. I forget but wasn't that the play where there was an unaccounted-for blitzer bearing-down from his left side? If so, I thought it was good in that he got the ball off quickly before getting nailed. It was a bad throw/decision on where he put it, but good for WHY he threw it. And it wasn't caught so it wasn't an INT.
  19. Tom Tupa was (is?) a punter who is also an emergency QB. I don't see why Wodbury couldn't do the same (i.e. play another position outside of QB during the first 3 quarters). And again Kordell did it at #2 (I think), and if that's the case, make Woodbury #2 to allow him to play elsewhere during the game, but go to Holcomb (who would be #3) if JP went down.
  20. Yeah, I liked seeing that, although I was hoping to see Euhus stay on that side. And the botched shotgun snap (which I'm surprised no one mentioned) looked like Teague snapped it early, because I've NEVER seen a football that close to hitting a (motion) player on purpose.
  21. No not "everyone." But a good number.
  22. Think again. Is ANY team ready to go tomorrow? Nope, not even the Pats.
  23. No, Tom Brady, the greatest QB of all-time. Who I'm told has looked bad so far in training camp. But he'll likely improve with more work.
