  1. Sounds like the positive press is starting to outweigh the negative.
  2. The only "experts" I've heard about who have said JP didn't look good/promising are Clayton and Kiper, both guys who never played football and who don't have near the clout of someone like Dan Reeves. And again based on what I saw and his stats, how anyone can say he didn't look good/promising is beyond me! But hey, that's JUST me.
  3. Nope. Remember AVP during those times? I believe it was Drew and AVP one year. I think Travis Brown was hurt and they didn't bother to replace him. Don't remember which year (maybe 2002)..
  4. No they won't. Jim Bates will have them playing much better ball. And no Moss will help.
  5. Remember the season the Bills kept only 2 QB's?
  6. Again, if in reality going 60%, having no sacks, scrambling for yardage, converting 3rd downs, and checking-down on your receivers is being "off," "iffy," "bad," or "terrible," give that to me all season long.
  7. I've never said that almost INT was a good play. Just that it didn't hurt him and if anything taught him a lesson early-on in his young career. And since he's supposedly a fast learner, he won't make that same mistake again when it really counts.
  8. He was playing against future fast food workers of America, JB. He has promise, at the very worst as a gimmick-type QB and WR/ST'er, but I wouldn't even consider hi #2 material at this point.
  9. As I've said before, quoting an NFL personnel guy: "because they're all playing power forward in the NBA."
  10. And on a related note, John Clayton STILL thinks the Bills should have traded Travis Henry for a 5th rounder at draft time.
  11. The almost INT was just that, almost. The illegal contact on the play was real. I'm saying that if you want to call it an almost INT, then it was an almost TD on that other play. Nothing about his impending greatness either, just that throwing for 60% and not getting sacked is NOT "iffy," "bad," much less "terrible." Put it this way, a flag SHOULD have been thrown because the defender had his arm around Lee's waist, and that's illegal. Whether it was holding versus PI is a judgement call on the refs, but it's not a matter of saying that since it happened while the ball was in the air, it's PI, but since it looked uncatchable, it wasn't PI. Especially now with the re-emphasis on DB's mugging WR's.
  12. Neufeld to date has been more of a practice warrior. I'm not holding my breath on him, so Euhus will have to be the great white hope.
  13. It looked like from the scrimmage that the TE's will be used extensively. It was good to see Campbell back, playing well, and being able to absorb a hit. But I noticed his lack of speed and all I'm left wondering is what could have been had Everett be healthy!
  14. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Maybe Stamer COULD be better than Posey. But would YOU want to take a chance on that?
  15. The completion percentage was (in reality) 60%. Again HOW can anyone be critical of that? If you're throwing for that rate, you're doing VERY well. Yes he missed some passes, but that would have taken him to 70, 70, or 90%. If that's the expectation, people need to readjust their expectations.
  16. In my recollection, your words regarding JP have been in the negative light. It's like "well he's shown nothing, but I hope I'm wrong and he does well." If I'm remembering that wrong, I'm sorry. Maybe others have said that, but I never talked about "almost" plays since you could go on forever talking about them. And it's okay to throw the ball to where only the receiver can make the play, but when you don't approach 60% passing, there's a problem there. Moreover JP is young and can still learn from his mistakes and from his coaches. Drew was mostly set in his ways. And I was a Drew supporter. So you're saying that JP doesn't have infintely more mobility than Drew did and that what would have been sure sacks with Drew might not be with JP? Well to be fair, in the scrimmage the other night, they stopped the Bills' 1st drive on 3rd down and had them punt. And Willis had a TD on a drive.
  17. It largely depends on your preconceptions of JP. Those who don't/didn't like him, will focus more on the negative. But looking at objective measures like a 60% completion percentage, no sacks, moving well in the pocket, and a few mental mistakes that didn't end up hurting the team and are learning points, you can't say he "struggled" or "looked bad." Sure there's room for improvement since he missed 4 passes and almost got picked, but at this early stage, that's like expecting him to be Montana right out of the gate.
  18. That play was at the very least holding, which is 5 yards, 1st down, and no charged incompletion. Probably wouldn't have been called PI because the holding slowed Lee down and thus made him getting to the ball less likely. But the point with calling it an "almost TD" is to counter those who said he "almost" had an INT. We'll never know, but there WAS illegal contact on that play.
  19. Great article. Lot of good stuff like how he can run faster than a 4.87 now that he's in "much better shape," spent almost as much time in OP as JP did, and his attitude. I just hope he has the smarts to play LT, and no I don't mean book smarts.
  20. Sure you should be evaluated everyday. Or at the very least THINK you're being evaluated everyday. That way you give the best you can all the time. If more people had that work ethic, this world would be a much different place.
  21. That's true, he DID run once. And on that play he had Reed wide open for what would have been a long gainer. I think he realized that on that play (or was told that by the coaches and/or Reed) and that's why he eschewed running the next time. All part of working out the kinks.
  22. You're certainly entitled to your opinion Fez. We all know that you really don't like JP and/or don't like the fact that Drew was cut so we know where you're coming from. But if "terrible" is throwing for a 60% completion percentage, not getting sacked, and showing great mobility, give me "terrible" all season long!
  23. I think you meant Woodbury, not Goldsberry. But good points otherwise.
  24. Again, JP in reality was 6-10 (60% completion) since on his first incompletion (to Evans) there was PI. And he did NOT throw an INT, since "almost INT's" don't count. In that vein I should say he had a TD, since had Evans not been interfered with on that play, he would have had a TD. But I won't. He also didn't get really sacked since they blew a quick whistle on that one play. For a first outing, I think that's a pretty good game, and things should only get better. Kiper and Clayton never liked JP and thus are trying to justify their misguided opinions on him.
