  1. I don't know how it could be any other way. Hutchinson was horrible. And while Orton succeeded against the Bills' 2nd stringers, his potential is untapped whereas Hutchinson has pretty much proven himself not to be an NFL QB.
  2. I was talking about the 41 OL drafted AFTER Parrish. If you want to talk about those drafted before as well, you'd have to jack-up the total number by about 10 at least. And sure more could start due to injury, just like Preston probably could. All in all, the decision to let Jonas walk, passing on LJ Shelton, signing Gandy, and drafting Preston, look to have been great moves. The signing of Anderson isn't looking too hot now, but again as I said, Preston gives them options.
  3. Like I said, 3 out of 41 OL picked who are starting, whether because they're good enough to start or because their teams have no other choice, is NOT a great batting percentage. None would have been selected at Parrish's pick by anyone, much less the Bills, and Preston could probably start and do as well if given the chance.
  4. I agree. I think? No, you've nailed it. There IS no one on the O-line worth spending the money on, unless another surprise FA gets released. But the odds of that happening are low.
  5. Any starting LT's come out of last year? How about after the 23rd pick in 2003? I don't know, I'm just asking. I think Preston, a 5th rounder, could replace him. I like what I've seen from him. If he can make it as a starter, I think that the draft will have been a successful one from the OL standpoint.
  6. Like what? Draft a rookie LT with a 2nd round pick this year and play him? Trade a 1st and pay TONS of money for a franchised LT? Pay Jonas what he wanted? Trade for Shelton and his $3M pricetag? Sorry but LT's are hard to come-by, and to be able to get a guy like Gandy for peanuts, with Peters waiting in the wings, is the best anyone could have hoped-for.
  7. They went after Gandy, who looks to have been a great move (when you consider what was available, what Jonas got, and how each has been playing), and Anderson, who isn't looking so hot.
  8. Who COULDN'T start on the O-line for the 49'ers? And that's 3 players out of 41 picked after Parrish, with the next starter (Synder) picked 40 spots later. Not to mention Duke Preston could probably start at LG if the Bills wanted to go that route.
  9. I wouldn't be surprised in the least to learn that the Bills will be making a big push to sign him.
  10. I had the same retort, when I asked if any rookie OL picked AFTER Parrish was/were going to start for any NFL team this year. Your point was that the Bills should have drafted an OL who could start (at LG) this year. I don't think any OL who were picked after Parrish ARE going to start this year, and Parrish should make a much greater impact than a rookie OL picked after him.
  11. Or at least a silent post.
  12. Forget it. It's pointless now.
  13. It was the right move. Grossman is out and Hutchinson has bounced-around and has shown nothing. Go with the rookie and see what happens. They really have no other choice.
  14. Well this is a moot point since he was waived, but here goes. He'd get a QB number and be listed as #3. Since he wouldn't be taking snaps as a QB, he can play at any time, and most QB's don't play another position. If he WERE to enter the game, the rules would apply, i.e. the other QB's couldn't re-enter until the 4th. Another solution if that weren't possible is to make him #2 (so he could play elsewhere) and KH #3, and if JP went down, go immediately with KH, and then play TW elsewhere in the 4th quarter.
  15. Players on IR or PUP don't count. And I believe the Bills need to cut 5 more by Tuesday.
  16. Tuesday, i.e. the day after all week 3 pre-season games are finished, is the official cutdown day.
  17. If JP and KH went down, I couldn't care less who played #3 QB. They get so few reps during the week that they're pretty much useless when they come into the game. However at least in Woodbury's case, he could be used during games at non-QB positions, and if he HAD to come in at QB, he could use his athleticism (roll-outs, scrambles, option, etc.) in addition to just handing-the-ball-off, like Matthews would be doing. Oh and the 3rd QB can play a non-QB position during the game. Tom Tupa has been punting and a 3rd QB for years.
  18. I mentioned about joining in meetings, but if Matthews is running the scout team and JP is running the 1st team, what is Holcomb doing?
  19. Yes but again, at least Losman can improve. With Bledsoe it was chronic. He averaged almost 1.5 turnovers per game while with the Bills.
  20. Again, they could offer him a job as an assistant. Doesn't have to do anything but attend practices, film sessions, and games, and offer advice. Might not pay as much as 3rd string QB, but if that's what he's there for (to be paid), you don't want him anyway.
  21. Well, the purpose of keeping Woodbury was to USE him as something other than QB, when riding the pine as a needed-once-in-a-blue-moon emergency QB. I would seriously like to know how many times ANY team had to resort to their 3rd string/emergency QB in a game, over the course of a year, 2 years, 3 years, whatever? I doubt it happens more than twice a season. Not high enough to warrant keeping a 3rd QB who can ONLY play QB, and not that well at that.
  22. He'll probably play as much as the Detroit starting defense does.
  23. I didn't notice that. Hopefully it is, and more hopefully, this thing peters-out!
  24. You don't know what you're talking about.
  25. I hope you're getting out of NO before it hits, CBB. From the sound of it, it doesn't seem like that's the case. I hope I'm reading that wrong.
