Handicapping the Bills coach selection
MadBuffaloDisease replied to Lothar's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not surprised by this. I also an not surprised that Bates turned-down the Packers' DC job. I wouldn't want to coach that bunch, and especially wouldn't want to be an assistant under a first-time HC who ran a lousy offense the year before yet somehow STILL got the job. -
Actually they've had a sellout streak since 1993, when Parcells was hired. And they'll always have a sellout streak and a waiting list for season tix now. It's a function of the size of the stadium to the market. But I can assure you that the waiting list for season tix dropped a lot after Parcells left and Carroll ran the team into the ground.

for those of you that like scarlett johanson

On Leno last night they showed Isaac Mizrahi feeling up one of her Golden Globes on the red carpet. -
The Steelers' OL rocked back in his stance. It should have been a false start, 5 yards, and the Steelers would have been forced to punt, saving valuable time (for the Colts) on the clock. This didn't lose the game for the Bears. They didn't suffer a disadvantage by letting the playclock run out, if not getting an advantage because Grossman was able to call out the signals, get everyone set, and then run the play. The execution was bad. Now had the Bears WON it thanks to that call, it would be a different story. Oh and there is a 1-2 second delay between the game clock and the time on the field.

Samuel also took his eyes off the ball whereas Lelie was watching the ball the whole time. That's also why he got flagged. There was NO evidence ANYWHERE that the ball went over the goalline. To argue that this SHOULD have been called a touchback, much less overturned and called a touchback, is assinine.

Thanks to the refs. Again I find it laughably hypocritical for ANY Pats player or fan to be talking about bad officiating, when there were loads of bad calls in 2001 and 2003 that helped propel the Pats to their SB wins. Where was the hue and cry THEN? What you heard instead was Raiders' and Colts' players and fans being called babies. And that is the reason the Pats have never gotten the respect they feel they deserve. It's funny that the media loves them, but the players and fans don't think they're all that.

Going from Crennel, to Mangini, to Pees is a huge step downwards for the Pats. Crennel had been a DC for 9 years (I didn't realize he joined the Pats prior to the 2001 season and thought he'd been there since Belichick joined in 2000) and has been a coach in the NFL for 24 years while Mangini has been a DC for 1 year but has been an NFL coach for 12 years. Pees became an NFL coach just last year (LB'ers) and didn't do much to distinguish himself. If anything, the Pats' LB'ers took a big step back with Brown and Beisel being busts, Vrabel having a sub-par year, and Bruschi needing to come back to save the unit.

I may have asked this before but...

Good point. Actually it was more me not considering Saunders. And I don't want Jauron as a HC, just a DC. -

I'd guess age. The jokes are already flowing about the Bills' geriatric ward of owner and GM. Imagine adding a "young whipper-snapper" approaching seniority! -
So Ralph does still drive a car

It's easier to fix/replace a Taurus than a Mercedes, when you crash into something. -
Hopfully they told him to stick around...for the DC job.

Interesting tidbit from Sherman bio

Bobby April was the front-runner at one point. -
He's at the airport...

has any HC'ing candidate left been an assistant on a SB-winning team? I think someone said that Al Saunders was the WR's coach for the Giants or something, but I think he might be a little too old. Ideally a guy who was an assistant on a SB-winning team who is younger should be the next HC, since he has seen/knows what it takes to win it all, but there might not be anyone who fits that bill, so to speak.

The Jets won't be a factor for several years. Not only are they way over the cap, they have a load of good FA's they won't be able to re-sign, and face a decision with Pennington. The Pats are on the downswing. They already lost Weis and Crennel, just lost Mangini, and promoted a guy who's been with them 2 whole years (Dean Pees) to DC. And Saban needs to prove he's not another Mularkey, given the way the Dolphins played against the Bills this year.

The Bill's HC job is no prize
MadBuffaloDisease replied to stuckincincy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Who cares what Levy wants WRT coaching the team? He will NOT ever be the HC of the Bills again. Period. -
Could be. It's arranged like a 20-sided "cube."
-
My sources say no. Then again, they also say ask again later. And outlook good. I mean, WTF is that?
-
Well if you believe that TD only wanted to hire HC's who wouldn't usurp his power, then getting cheaper coaches was HIS idea.

Jauron Tuesday, Sherman Wed.
MadBuffaloDisease replied to Mark VI's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It was mentioned that the coordinator of a SB-winning team would be best since he knows what it takes to win. That got me to thinking of who fit this description and was available. The only name I could come up with from the past 10 years is Greg Robinson. He won 2 SB's as DC of the Broncos, but is now the HC of the Orangemen. My question is, how did he end up there and would be he a HC'ing candidate? -
Peter King on our meddlesome owner
MadBuffaloDisease replied to jahnyc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't disbelieve King. I just think that Wilson started keeping tabs on TD like he did with Butler towards the end of HIS tenure in Buffalo, because they weren't getting things done. -
Unless you need to absolutely take the physical right now, postpone it. Although there probably won't be any problems, why put yourself through potential aggravation just because you couldn't wait a few more months? Again do this ONLY if you feel fine and you don't have a strong family history of anything that you'd need checked at regular intervals.
