    If the Bills get Fat Ted and draft a DT, the defense will be immensely improved. I'd like to get a guy like Bates but if it doesn't happen, it's not the end of the world.

    I'd really like to know what the Bills were offering him. If it was more than the $750K he was scheduled to make from the Pack, screw him. If he thinks that he'll definitely get a better offer next year, much less a HC position (ha!), he's deluding himself.

    From what I understand, Bates is getting $750K from the Packers each of the next 2 years. He already rejected $1M a year from the Rams. I'd have to think the Bills are offering him that much. He'd be a fool to turn down a $250K raise and be under the radar for a year, hoping for a good gig next year.

    Judging by his treatment by the Jets and Vikes, I'm sure he's changed his mind. Or at least he SHOULD have changed his mind.

    It seems that if the Bills can't get Bates, they'll surely be able to get Cottrell. And more than a few places suggest he'd be virtually as good as Bates. I don't know about that, but I guess it could be worse.

    The Raiders have a DC who just signed an extension. And the Texans will be using 2 coaches to be their DC, which is odd, but whatever. I thought the Jets needed one as well, but you'd think Clayton would know.

    Houston will be using 2 coaches to be the DC. Strange, but true. So they're out of the running. And the Raiders re-upped Ryan to be their DC. So that leaves the Bills and I thought the Jets, but I guess they have someone.

    Which ones? The article on how the Bills could have gotten Martz as OC if they wanted to pay him like a HC, i.e. at least $3M a year? Sorry but even Snyder isn't paying Greggo or Saunders that much.

    True and as I mentioned, likely we'll never know what happened. But I still believe that ultimately what prevented Sherman from coming to Buffalo was him wanting GM duties, since he had that in GB, and once you've tasted power, you want more. Whether he made that clear from the beginning or in an 11th hour power play, as I said we'll probably never know.
