  1. Yeah, it's not like Ralph EVER sold the naming rights before.
  2. Well that makes me feel a little better than him voting "no" because it was a bad deal. It still might be a bad one, but if the lower revenue clubs voted for it, then it might not be bad.
  3. Ralph voted against it. That might not be good news.
  4. Very cool. They must have worked it out in the end.
  5. Details to follow.
  6. I believe that's what the "cash over cap" proposal was supposed to do.
  7. Any wonder why ESPN canned him?
  8. No one can make you do something you didn't already want to do. You've been defending big market owners so far. And MLB used to be the #1 sport in the U.S., but football has surpassed it. Want to know why? And word is that Jones doesn't want to pay for his own stadium, like Snyder, McNair, and Kraft (who used G-3 funds, BTW) did, so it might not come anytime soon. No reason NOT to still sell naming rights, that I bet SOMEONE would pay for.
  9. How do YOU or anyone know that Ralph isn't "maximizing [his] revenues?" Outside of selling naming rights, which would at best bring-in $1-2M a year, if even that, what revenues has he NOT been maximizing? If he raised tickets to "competitive" prices, the stadium wouldn't sell-out. Hell it doesn't sell out fully about 1-2 times per year as it is, and even when the Bills were in the SB every year, season tickets never sold out. Raising ticket prices isn't the answer. But I guess making side deals with beverage and apparel companies IS the way to go, even though it screws-over his fellow owners.
  10. Anyone know where I can get a Bills painter's cap? I find painter's caps fit me better than baseball caps, and I used to be able to get them. Thanks in advance.
  11. If the players don't agree to a salary cap, there will be a work stoppage. And unlike the other 3 major leagues, there IS no football league outside of the U.S. that even comes CLOSE to paying what NFL wages pay. So Upshaw can bluster all he wants, the salary cap is NOT going away.
  12. They should put a new stadium in Amherst, NY. That would probably do pretty well.
  13. The salary cap is here to stay, JDG. While there MAY not be one in 2007, it will surely come back after that. And there could also be a lockout/work stoppage in 2008. And losing a year of football pay is NOT a smart thing to do for the players. Hell even if Upshaw holds fast at the 59.5% and the FA period begins and players sign deals that are less than what they could have been, he'll have lost.
  14. Jones was the first owner to break from leaague-wide beverage and apparel deals to make private deals that went into his pocket. He also hasn't sold the naming rights to "Texas Stadium," while criticizing OTHER owners for not maximizing their revenue potential. What a tool.
  15. It will only work "brilliantly" if they accept it, which I bet they won't. Jerry Jones has already gone on record saying he doesn't like it, and if he doesn't like it, the lower revenue teams won't like it, thus no deal.
  16. ...and that's when they realized you WERE gay.
  17. Looks like 59.5% won't fly with the owners. Jerry Jones doesn't like it, and if HE doesn't like it, the lower-revenue teams won't either.
  18. Apparently he mother was in the hospital during that week, so his mind might now have been on the game. I still advocate trading up to take Williams or taking Davis, but I'd be fine with Ngata.
  19. Neither is trying to land a LT in the draft, which is the ONLY place they'll be able to get one without shelling out an arm and a leg in FA. I'd agree that Gandy sucks compared to Hutchinson, et al., but again finding guys like that isn't a given in the draft, and on the market will be expensive. And with limited resouces, I think that the tackles and center positions are more important to spend FA dollars on, although I think we'll end up going with Preston at center.
  20. Never said he was a Pro Bowler and anyone can stand to improve in an area or two. But for 2 years into a conversion from college TE, I'd say he looks very promising.
  21. What, you'd rather see people left on the street and/or that they have a better chance OUSIDE of a hospital?
  22. Peters, my man, with Gandy next to him. Maybe McIntosh could be worth a lot at RT?
  23. Was he double-teamed? What was the quality of the interior lineman(men) he faced? What about the quality next to him on HIS DL? These are some questions that need to be answered before writing him off.
  24. He gave up 4 sacks and committed 5 penalties, compared to Gandy's 7 sacks and 7 penalties. However he did also play next to a better LG (James, who gave up 2.5 sacks and committed 5 penalties, compared to the 6 sacks and 8 penalties Anderson had). Good luck finding a new starting LT AND a new QB, Dols.
