  1. I agree. Why sign early? Why not have teams schmooze you, which only helps drive-up your price?
  2. Anna Nicole was looking the same before she offed herself.
  3. Maybe he found the holy grail as well?
  4. That's the only thing I could come up with myself, but it's a big risk as well.
  5. They're probably working on a long-term deal until the deadline.
  6. :) Once again, "cash to cap" means that whatever bonus money a player gets paid this year, plus his salary, count towards this year's cap. Fletch could be getting a $4M bonus this year, but guaranteed bonuses for several million more in later years.
  7. Ayup. The report was that Gandy saw what a slug Tuts was and asked to be moved inside to LG, for the good of the team. Doesn't make sense since Gandy stood to lose a lot of money going from LT to LG, but stranger things have happened.
  8. Any results of his 10- and 20-yard split times (more important IMHO than 40-yard), cone, short shuttle, VJ, and BJ? I'm curious to see what weight he's at at his pro day workout and how fast he runs.
  9. I heard that, like Willis, Reyes didn't study the playbook.
  10. People will believe what they want to believe.
  11. What? I never left! (think about it...)
  12. Ever stop to think that Buffalo is one of the least desired places people want to play, hence the reason the Bills need to overpay them to come? And just because the contract calls for $13M in guaranteed money, it doesn't mean it all goes against this year's cap. And nice going, JR!
  13. Fair enough. But a new owner with an $800M debt won't be looking to keep the team in Buffalo.
  14. Unlike with the McGahee thing, no way to prove it.
  15. Everything I heard is that Bentley wanted to play for the Browns because it was his hometown. Maybe he was playing the Eagles all along.
  16. Maybe he had to pee and couldn't learn the playbook?
  17. Talk is cheap. The 49'ers can target 10 guys, but they'll probably end up with just 1 or 2. I think Adalius Thomas ends up there, with a record-breaking deal.
  18. JEREMY GREEN IS WHO WE THOUGHT HE WAS!
  19. If anything, the Sabres showing they're ready to take all comers would send a message to the rest of the league. Teams have been taking liberties with them all season. Finally they've started fighting back. And the thing is, they're still winning, even with AHL'ers.
  20. I didn't realize at the time that he promised Nate to NOT franchise him again. As you said, Nate was coming off a bad year, so holding-out for half of it would have been very stupid on his part.
  21. With Kelsay the Bills' defense was no great shakes. I'd go with Hargrove and take my chances, at a fraction of the cost, which can be used for more important things, like keeping Nate, getting better OG's, and adding a DT. Kelsay will be SORELY overpaid, just because he's one of the better DE's of a bad FA crop. As for Willis, he averaged 3.8 YPC, caught 18 passes, and scored 6 TD's. Hardly the stuff of legends.
  22. Fullback is a dying position. And Olsen reminds me of another Everett. Chris Brown said he looks too skinny to be a TE and looks more like a posession receiver.
  23. Not true. As I've said repeatedly, the Broncos signed Bailey to a tiered-bonus contract. He got $6M upfront, and another 2-$6M option/buyout payments that were paid at a later date (like 2 years apart each, or all at once if he were cut). If the Bills offered Nate that, his "cash" against the "cap" would be somewhere in the $7M range ($6M in bonus and $1M in salary, if even). And I wouldn't call Kelsay or even Willis a "star" player. Both have been disappointments.
