  1. Apparently Mark Word is the backup RDE.
  2. The forecast of "scattered strong storms" tomorrow in Pittsford does NOT sound good.
  3. It's not what's going-on this off-season per se, but what went on LAST post-season: Tommy G got hockey fever and it was good!
  4. Good call bro. Looks like Ellis played LDE for most of his career, except 2000 (can't verify but I'll take your word) and last year. I thought he was a LDE and was surprised to see he was a RDE last year. Should have done my homework better. As for trying to acquire him, if the price is right, why not? I'd at most offer a 4th rounder and if Ellis sees a team that will take him and the Cowboys can get something for him, they might do it. Then I'd tell him he plays under his old contract (i.e. no signing bonus and can get cut before the start of the season), but that he gets to go back to LDE and play in a 4-3 so take it or leave it.
  5. Turley at RT and Black at LT is NOT what the Chefs want to do. I agree with you on pressuring the left side to get to Green.
  6. Well that week 1 game WAS against the Jets, and 2 of the games Roaf didn't play that LJ did (there was a 3rd that LJ didn't start but got the majority of snaps-Oakland), he went up against 2 lousy defenses in Buffalo ( ) and Houston. Welbourn missed another of LJ's starts, but there was no game that LJ started and in which he did well that both Roaf and Welbourn were both out. And Jordan Black, who filled-in for Roaf and Welbourn, according to snap.stats.com gave up 8 sacks last year in 10 starts, mostly at LT, but has a future at RT. He'll probably take-over there, but that still leaves a huge hole at LT and no one to fill it. Again this move blindsided the Chefs. I think LJ is a great RB, but a great RB still needs a good O-line, and the Chefs suffered an enormous blow with the unexpected retirement of Roaf, if not Welbourn. Also Will Shields is getting up there as are Casey Wiegmann and Brian Waters (Shields will be 35 by the start of the season, Weigmann will be 33-1/2, and Waters is the youngster at 29-1/2).
  7. And here I thought it would be Owen Wilson signing "Don't Give Up On Us, Baby."
  8. Well first-off, Ellis is a RDE. That's Schobel's spot, and making the transition from RDE to LDE might not be so easy. Second of all, Ellis is scheduled to earn $2.25M this year in base salary and has $12.225M left in base salary alone on the 4 remaining years of his contract, which he'll want to rework to get a good chunk in signing bonus. Last of all, you have to wonder why Parcells wants to kick his starting RDE to the curb like that?
  9. As a FA, sure. Again though, not for a 3rd rounder and a bump in salary (with a new contract, you can pay him less. With his old contract, he'll use that as a starting point in negotiating a new one).
  10. Yikes! I didn't mean to say THAT! What I was trying to say is that Paup got more sacks in a 3-4 than a 4-3; a lot more in fact. I'm just saying that proportionally, Posey's sacks would be expected to drop going from the 3-4 to the 4-3. Posey is NOWHERE near Paup, I agree.
  11. I think the Chefs would have appreciated it if you told THEM when it was NEW news: http://www.nfl.com/teams/story/KC/9575943
  12. I liken it to Paup. In the 4-3 in Green Bay, he was a good player and got some sacks. In the 3-4 in Buffalo, he was a sacking machine.
  13. To be fair, Posey racked-up 8.5 sacks as a rush OLB in a 3-4. To have expected the same out of him in a 4-3 was asking too much.
  14. Hard to tell if you're being serious, but no, the Bills would have had to draft McCargo at 16 or higher to be able to sign him to a 6-year contract. He was taken 26th overall. They did. Whitner they'll probably have to settle for a 5-year deal though.
  15. Not for a 3rd round pick, tons of money, and him being 31 already.
  16. Turley had dropped so much weight, he was trying out as a TE for the Dolphins! If the Chefs truly DID expect these moves, they did a GREAT job of pre-empting them.
  17. I'm sure it was to most people. And interesting that they didn't even draft an OT this year.
  18. Someone took a movie of practice? Link?
  19. Both of his starting tackles from last year, Willie Roaf and John Welbourn, just retired. Ouch!
  20. Posey to backup DE?
  21. Don't worry. Chris Brown will be injured by the time the Titans game rolls around. Unless you meant Bills Digest editor Chris Brown, who is tiny.
