Smith averaged 17.4 yards on 9 returns in 2004. Last year he averaged 6.8 on 6.
Parrish averaged 13.3 yards on 14 returns, which led the NFL for punt returners with more than 10 returns. With a broken wrist I might add.
If Smith can return to his 2004 form, the Pats might have something.
The Bills should sign the guy the Pats cut to make room for JS: Bam Childress (to the PS). He would be able to give the Bills insight into the Pats playbook and would be someone worth developing.
He'll be a good punt returner for them, but's it. Although their ST's have taken a hit, what with losing Vinatieri, and their gunners Mitchell and TeBucky Jones.
The 2002 saw a TON of injuries for the Bears as well as having to play home game 2 hours away, so that was a wash for Jauron and Angelo couldn't fire him after that season either. So he decided to give away players to his bud, Belichick, instead. That worked.
The OC was one part. The other was Angelo undermining him by giving away his best defensive players (Washington and Colvin) and bringing-in chumps (Kordell Stewart).
I doubt we'll ever know for sure.
Why would the Seahawks trade-away a 1st rounder for Coles? He's done little since leaving the Jets, and did little when he RETURNED to them. If they want him, they could probably give-up a 2nd rounder for him, if not a 3rd rounder, given his salary of $2M this year.
Forget Petitti. He apparently gave-up 13.5 sacks last year () and wasn't even the starting RT for the Cowboys this pre-season (Marc Colombo was).
I remember more than a few Bills fans being miffed the Bills passed on him last year in the draft.
I'd go for Haynes as the 4th DE, assuming he can play RDE.
I don't believe that the Bills really wanted to keep Mularkey. I think that Marv wanted to replace him, but wanted Mularkey to be the one to decide to leave.
