  1. Yes we CAN sign Nate. We can fit it under the newer, inflated salary cap. Just because we can, does not mean we should. Signing Nate means HUGE a upfront signing bonus (that's real cash folks), and a significant dent into our salary cap for the future. We've had Nate for what 5-6 years now? He's a good to very good corner, but he's not as good as he thinks he is. "Playmaker?" please. There were 32 players with more interceptions than Nate. THIRTY-TWO. Not counting the eight others tied with him. It's a trend with him. He's only got 9 interceptions for the last 4 years. Two CB's (Samuel & Bailey) had 10 this year alone. two interceptions a year.... Not worth Top money. If JP makes another step forward next year along with Lee Evens, I'd rather have that money to give to them. Or allow us to overpay some big mauling guards. I'd much rather grab the biggest and best Olinemen available than one self-inflated CB. There's trade-offs to keeping Nate, and I don't like them. He wants too much money. I'd rather get better value out of my money.
  2. Apparently Sherman wanted $4 million a year and Cards wouldn't pay. Not a horrible decision on either side. For Sherman, he'd never get another head coaching job after the Cardinals, so might as well be paid for it.
  3. Was totally obvious. I have no idea how the camera people (editors) missed it and showed it live.
  4. yep. Looks like another bust. IMO Donahoe was a mediocre drafter. Some good, some bad. Somewhere right in the middle. Thank God not like the Lions, or the Cardinals, but at the same time not like the Steelers or Pats.
  5. Coy was in basically to help stop the run. Shows how desperate we'd become to help out the run D. He was essentially playing LB not a DB, and could still "cover". AY worked his way up and was active (IRC) towards the end of the season. I was pleasantly suprised with KT, and wouldn't mind keeping him. No barnburner, but decent backup material. We're hoping that AY will become hotstuff, but the coaches clearly thought he was still too raw, and was outplayed by the vets in front of him. (maybe by just being more consistent) Regardless, I feel we've had our most productive draft in years. If AY ends up no more than a backup, shrug, the draft is still a crapshoot, he was only a 3rd.
  6. Nice, and I agree with much of the ten. We couldn't reliably run the ball, and we couldn't reliably stop the run. Not a great combo. But we're still in the thick of things at the end. We definitely need more line help, but it was much, much improved after the break. I sure want a mauling guard or two. Oh, hell, I'm greedy, give me three.
  7. There really aren't that many rookies who have the talent and maturity to start and do well right off of the bat in the NFL. We did well this year with as many rookies who were able to contribute and do well. None of them were exceptional though. Ashton was younger, (came out as a jr), missed much of training camp, putting him at the bottom of our deepest (and healthy) unit. So he didn't get to play much. Where's the suprise? What's to be disapointed about? Heck, I'm disapointed that our team isn't good enough that any rookie is able to crack our starting lineup.
  8. I also think that too many people underestimate Pennington as a QB. He doesn't have much of an arm, but he's accurate, and makes pretty good decisions. Career 65% completions (2nd highest all time), 72 Tds to 46 Ints, and 31/22 as a starter. I really think that he's a big, big reason that they've done well enough to make the playoffs. Without Pennington, that team would have been a disaster like they were last season at 4/12. Brooks Bollinger anyone? Don't get me wrong, he's not a great QB, but a good one. And he's fragile. But when he's healthy he's a good, accurate QB.
  9. I wish that I'd watched it live! I only saw the highlights when the game was over. UNBELIEVABLE! They did a pretty good recap in the next sportcenter. I'll definitely try and catch that on replay. (please replay that game!) It's even better since David got to stomp Goliath and to do it in spectacular fashion! Now they need to hang onto their coach.
  10. I saw that hold live and to make sure I quickly rewound to look at it on tivo. I was SHOCKED at how blatant it was on review. I'm extremely grateful that they missed that call as I think it was the play that kept us in the game. But it was a bad (for the Jags) missed call.
  11. What are you talking about? Eli Manning is the latest incarnation of QB godhood. JP shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence. ....or am I a month out of date?
  12. Woohoo! Welcome back! But don't take the whole grid down, we need some of that power for the AC out here.
  13. Sadly, I think his backups are worse too. Gandy sure had a horrible day. Strangely enough, I think that JP stands in that pocket for too long. Where the hell is his timer? I really wish he'd roll out to either side quicker.
  14. Definitely an enjoyable read. You do get the feeling that the numbers could be a little misleading, as tackles are very different depending on where they are on the field. But still, quite a bit of unfavorable evidence against Mr. Clements.
  15. Don't forget, Mularkey also manages to make his highly (over)rated Tight End disappear too.
  16. yep. us (now) Californians call freeways (note, they're FREEWAYS not highways) are all addressed as "the" 10, "the" 405, etc.
  17. So why in 2005 is he projected to have only 12.8 interceptions? He had 2tds and 2 interceptions, so any extrapolation on that would have the two numbers be the same in the future. (24tds & interceptions)
  18. But all the talking heads will still drool all over him. He probably has lost all his hair from all the sackwashing he's been getting. Meanwhile: DIE Fishies DIE! And may everyone associated with them be covered in festering boils. Especially their latest hack coach.
  19. ...for a different team than the one that drafted him. el busto.
  20. One of the best running backs ever. My pick as the most fun to watch. You never knew what was going to happen when he touched the ball. (Other than take about 4-5 defenders surrounding him to take him down)
  21. First thing I was thinking. Wow was that line bad. We've haven't had the greatest line play here, but I don't remember ever seeing us play as badly as the Raiders did tonight. Gallery did almost nothing against Merriman. Granted Merriman is truly awesome, but the rest of the line spent 60 minutes practicing their matador routines as well. Best Raider offensive call all night: The second WR LOS pass to Moss right after the first one worked. Shockingly, they never ran it again. despite the fact on both of those tosses Moss made the DBs look foolish.
  22. I'm also of the opinion that culpepper played pretty well. Especially since Meathead gave up on the run in the second half. Boy doesn't that sound familiar? Which meant he had to sit back behind a poor line and chuck it all day long. A bad recipe for all but the very best of QBs. Culpepper isn't the best of QBs. But he's a solid starter. Watching the second half, all I could think of was the crappy playcalling. I so don't miss that.
  23. I saw him in the game a couple times. Back to camera, staring down at all the players who were actually involved in the play.
  24. Me too! In the game that matters no less.
