The Pats are smart enough that he'd never make it through camp. The Phins, however, heck they took Bennie "the turnstile" Anderson, they'll take anyone and let them play. Go Phins Go! Better yet, have them signthe restricted agreement and give us a 3rd for him! Naw, even they aren't THAT dumb.

The public meltdown of Leaf was pure gold entertainment. That's why he stands out in my mind. Even though the public "who's better " conversation of Peyton/Leaf was near identical to Bledsoe/Mirer. With Mirer sucking it up pretty badly too. Although he at least was able to stick in the league as a career backup, still not what you want out of the number 2 pick. While nobody could save Leaf as an NFL football player.

A nice dab of info from an Eagles Fan

You also can get advantage is US fed contracts by setting up in a HUBzone, and by being a small business. (some contracts you need to be a "certified" small business) Section 8a is just one of several ways to get a small advantage in winning a gov't contract. I compete against 8a, hubzone and other small biz's and trust me it's much easier than competing against big companies. Where bribery and good old boys networks still influence the outcome. I have nothing against an 8a company. Did I even miss that they were going after gov't contracts? I didn't get that impression at all, although admittedly, I didn't read too closely. -
Offical tribute to the "dink and dunk" passer

So True, So True! -
I agree. Although I really believe #2 more than #1. They are willing to stomach an RBBC because they know who we have will work hard and give it their all, even if they aren't the most talented. Clearly neither Marv nor DJ thought the same about McWillis. I think they are very pleased with ellison, and feel that Crowell is adequate at MLB. Here I think they could tolerate going into the season with what they have, but would prefer an upgrade...(or at least another good future starter as a backup) I wouldn't be suprised if we moved up to the top of the 2nd or back into the bottom of 1st round again.

Apparently he was healthy and started all 16 games for KC last season. Of course on their main page they have the Chiefs drafting a DT with their first pick... He wasn't great, but he was better than tiny tim (when he was healthy). linky: http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=188004

Anything 5th and beyond is just a hope and a prayer. Don't really care who we draft here. I'll take any position if it turns out the guy can actually play at the NFL level.

Do we need to draft a Tight End?
Mark Long Beach replied to Blue Chipper's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wouldn't sqawk if we drafted another. But a 2nd day choice only please. Everett has done nothing, and doesn't look like he'll improve. Royal has been a pleasant surprise in that he's been average. Even looking pretty good at times. Which has been FAR better than what we've had in a while. I've heard a number of people talking good about Ceislak, but only Royal has looked worthy. -
Great Cartoon!!!!!!! Watch the whole thin

the greatest run ive ever seen
Mark Long Beach replied to sarmanuscg07's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
pick any one of about 10 Barry Sanders runs. That one's my pick. I loved watching the fear in the defensive player as they realized that they were 1 on 1 vs Barry and were going to lose. -
Briggs says he's done in Chicago
Mark Long Beach replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He still gets his 8mil guaranteed. The only difference is potentially a combined larger signing bonus/guaranteed yearly salary. If the two aren't larger he's better off with the 8mil guaranteed. Granted, more and more of the truly top end contracts have more and more guaranteed. I'm unsure how the 'guaranteed' salary on multiyear contracts works with injuries though... Since 8mil in one year is larger than most NFL players will make in their careers, I still have no sympathy, and he is certainly NOT being disrespected. It is a small concession to the team owners to ONLY pay one of the largest salaries for that one player so that the majority of the rest of the players gain more freedom and more money. -
Rosenputz aint done YET!
Mark Long Beach replied to Mark Long Beach's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hmmm... no, must be before my time, or maybe my memory is going. He's under a reasonable contract. I'm not against reworking contracts, but I am after only 1 real season. My complaint is more with Rosen... for attacking early and loud with no leverage. -
... you mean smoke crack, right? Some real lunacy in that article.

I agree that Gore looks like a top 5 RB. But, He's still only done it for one year. Not to mention he's still has THREE years left on his contract. I fail to see how reworking this contract benefits the 49ers in any way. -

I know, but it's REALLY hard to listen to someone whine about being disrespected for being forced to take 8 million guaranteed. -
When the wireless network was being flooded. Nothing like 0-day warez and porn to seize up a 1mps wireless LAN! I think whoever it was would've had quite a kick out of seeing what he hacked into!

No complaints for this signing at all. Hardworking, hardrunning and knows our system. Not to mention our coaches know him. Yes he's a backup RB, but may be able to step up a little farther than that, and maybe he can't. I'm Plenty fine with this. It's not like we're getting a pig-in-a-poke. We know it it isn't a prime greyhound in our bag, but we also know it isnt a bag full of Mularkey.
-
Despite the fact that Gore is only 2 years into his 5 year contract... http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=jc-g...o&type=lgns This guy is such a slime. If we're lucky we won't have to deal with him for a while.

Would you want Ricky Williams in a bills uniform?
Mark Long Beach replied to freester's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My only hate for Wacky Wicky is his affiliation with the Dolphins. Yes he's weird and he likes the wacky tobaccy. As far as character flaws, that isn't a big one on my list, so I'd still be willing to take him if he's willing to work and put the effort in. If he doesn't, no loss. I'd surely take a RB with that much talent. He's much better than Shaud. (and Atrain for that matter) -
Yeah, but it's still OFF season! That's still a lot of traffic to be increasing that much. SDS you sure there's no hidden porn server on the machine?!? (I once had pirates hack into one of my wireless linux based robots and start to use it as one!)

Dillon at OBD today?????
Mark Long Beach replied to Navy Chief Navy Pride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wouldn't complain having him as our second back, and short yardage back. Problem is he doesn't want that role, but it's all anyone is going to give him... so... Yeah, he's old and beat-up, but I think he's got a little left in the tank. So as a role-player I'm all for having him. We may play a waiting game and sign him later once he realizes there really isn't much out there for him. -
Michael Turner for a 2nd and the Raven's 3rd?
Mark Long Beach replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I also agree. He's looked pretty stunning when I've watched him. We get a lot of SD games here in SoCal, so I've seen him a few times. Different runner than LT, but impressive. Very impressive looking. The hard part is figuring out how much of that is the good OLine, and how much is a tired D chasing after LT all game long, and how much is Turners ability... I will say, that it's not just one game that he's looked good. He looks good everytime he touches it. But he just hasn't touched it that much... -
With Willis we did not have a starting RB
Mark Long Beach replied to taterhill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
! Bwaaaahahahaaa! Nice. Caught me totally off guard. -
I bit of a disapointment, but not a bust. Heck he was a good/decent starter for 3 years. That's the life of an NFL runningback. Disapointed, because I was promised more. A bust means we'd have gotten basically nothing. When in reality we got 3 years production and 3 draft picks out of him.
-
I'd rather have him as our 3rd RB than Shaud.
