  1. McNabb is good. Much better than I though he'd be. But I still have to go with Moon by a chunk. Moon's passes were a thing of beauty. Deep and shallow with great touch. As someone pointed out just how many yards he also threw in the CFL. Yes he got a boost for being in the run and shoot for a while, but he set NFL franchise records for most passing yards in a season for THREE different teams (Seattle, Houston, MN). They weren't all running the run-and-shoot. Only two times in the CFL has a QB passed for more than 5,000 yards. Both of those were by Moon. 8 Consecutive probowls, winning a probowl mvp at age 41! If you want a bunch of interesting stats about Moon more than what your memory has left in it. check here: http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/football/280...nnumbers04.html My favorite: 4 - Number of Pro-Bowlers playing in KC's secondary on 12/16/90, when Moon shredded the Chiefs for 527 yards and 3 TDs. The yardage total marked the 2nd greatest passing day in NFL history behind Van Brocklin's 554 set in 1951. Moon had an opportunity to shatter Van Brocklin's standard, but removed himself from the game early in the 4th Q. Moon by a good chunk.
  2. Very nice.
  3. Even if he's on the p*s, I can't root against Aiken. He never quite made the leap as a receiver, but it wasn't for lack of effort. I appreciated his work here and hope that he really isn't seriously injured.
  4. Hmmmm.... Truthfully, with my browser and no pictures, I often have a difficult time lining up what's what, when comparing with the real site. I found 3 spots that link (only because the links have now changed color since I've visited TSW) I only originally found the one at the bottom (home/contact/MESSAGE BOARD) The other two that I've found are: "join the discussion on TSW" after the news and ..."fan zone, forums, TSW, Off the wall..." at the top. I vote lofi, because pictures often take too long. er, I'm too impatient. Hope it helps! Mark.
  5. I agree, it's a decent summary. Not the same as watching the game, since you can't "feel" how the game is going. they're compressed with little space in-between so you see the results, but you don't get a sense of momentum, or to some extent how much one team is dominating the other. It's a little too bam, bam, bam. But I'll tell you it sure beats not seeing a game at all!
  6. No cut-off text on my Treo 755. (320x320) Looks pretty good, and easy to read. Only drawback was that since I've got it set to no images, so the only link I to the Stadium Wall was "message boards". And it's much harder to read. very horizontal. lots of slow scrolling to try and read. Haven't played around with it beyond that though. Nevermind, I scrolled down and found the lofi version. MUCH easier. Maybe make it the default link from the /pda main page? Thanks for your work! I truly am addicted to your site. It's become my only way of connecting with my Bills now that I'm in L.A.
  7. I wouldn't be so harsh. More likely I'd say that it's a hard way to make an easy living.
  8. Thanks OC! Good stuff, and much appreciated. Glad to hear of a bootleg pass to a TE. God I've been missing that.
  9. <caution No number in this post to back up my feelings> Overall, it seemed that Willis put up the numbers of an above average runningback. There would be moments or even games, that he looked like a top-5 draft pick he was "supposed" to be. He clearly excelled at Miami, and he clearly was able to recover from a horrific injury. IMO many fans are down on him because he doesn't seem to live up to his potential. Instead of striving for greatness, he seems content to strive for a quick lay. We applaud those who give all that they can, and are disappointed in those who don't put forth the effort. I remember watching a game for Baltimore when they were playing NE and Willis was running hard. I thought where the heck was that while he was here? I believe that Willis has/d the ability to become a legendary runningback. Instead he seems satisfied with being merely better than most. A guy like Fred Jackson may never reach the numbers of WM, but I'll root for him or someone like him any day of the week over somebody like WM.
  10. So true. We have enough of those. Not to mention you'd miss the exciting moments when the Marines are staging a landing. The place is filled with boats, hovercraft and helicopters. It's real hard to pay attention to the road when that's happening.
  11. I think that's what it all boils down to. I think that underwhelming QB play has been a big factor in our poor run this decade. (IMO combined with poor OCs) So far nobody has managed to step up and definitively seize the position. It's all been unrealized potential. I hope that TE can walk it.
  12. Yep. Pretty clearly. Even more obvious when you look back at last year when it was a two-person race for RG between Whittle and Preston because Butler was hurt. And then Butler got the job as soon as he came back from injury.
  13. I went to grad school at Shampoobanana aka Champaign/Urbana. I enjoyed the school, less so the surrounding area. I hope you enjoy your time there, it's got some great parts about it. Good luck with the Bills backer idea!
  14. I DID notice that the Sabers pounding the Flyers in the playoffs was a regular occurance!
  15. Couple funny ones from the article on 100 years of Philly sports heartbreaks: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/more....drought/1.html 45. Eagles take Kevin Allen with No. 9 overall pick | Apr. 30, 1985 The Eagles selected Allen, a left tackle out of Indiana, with the ninth overall pick in the 1985 NFL Draft. He was gone after one season and later pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated sexual assault. "He was a good player to have," mused Buddy Ryan, "if you want someone to stand around and kill the grass." Anyways, I enjoyed the article even if I didn't care about a lot of it.
  16. Um.. I think the article was a very good one. Exposing cliche's that are treated as gospel by the anouncers and casual fans as bupkis is a good thing. Especially when shown just how incorrect they are with some good facts behind the explanation.
  17. Ahh, the calm, deadpan beauty of it all. So rarely seen on the internet.
  18. Yup. Basketball is a much smaller team sport. Only about 8 players have any impact for the whole game. Getting one transcendent player makes a huge difference. There's a few of them in the NBA. But they need a couple good support people and a good coach. That doesn't always happens. But once it does, that group often succeeds very well for a few years. Tim Duncan and the Spurs are unusual in that they've won a lot of championships (4) but never back to back. So he's done it with different players alongside of him. Albeit with the same, very good coach. To further add to the streaky nature of the NBA. Even if you extend further back in history, You'll end up including the Celtics with 16 total titles. Three in the '80s and of course the streak of 11 in 13 years through the late 50's and 60s.
  19. We already were a middle of the pack D last year. We ranked 18th in scoring defense. Yes, I do agree that we gave up too many yards, let drives go for too long, and didn't have many turnovers. But we kept them out of the endzone for the mostpart. I these moves gives us a chance to be in the top 10.
  20. Nice. Well it's pretty clear that they thought they could get him into camp without using their last 7th round pick on him. The other guy they weren't sure on. Sounds reasonable to me. (although it would have "looked" better to have drafted a FB)
  21. Thanks for the summary. Very much appreciated.
  22. After about the 3rd round I really believe that you have to pick the best player available. Statistically speaking, few players drafted past this point become productive, quality NFL players. I'd rather have my team trying their best to unearth these diamond-in-the-rough type players who can become good players than to draft a warm body to hold a spot. If we're that desperate that we expect a 4+ rounder to start than we're in way worse shape than our middle of the pack record over the last few years says we are. We already have enough bodies on our team. We're trying to supplant them with better players. Yes sometimes you have to draft for need, McCargo & Hardy as examples. But late rounders we'll be lucky if we find a better player than what we already have even in a "thin" position. Give me the best chance by picking quality guys, not quality positions. Remember, it's easy for us to criticize based on position, but the team isn't drafting position, they're drafting actual people with lots of flaws, most of whom won't have an NFL career longer than maybe 2 years.
