  1. Nice, pretty reasonable post. I agree that it's a bit of a risky pick. If he proves to be a game changer like Johnson, Peterson or even Bush, we will definitely win. If he's more like <long list> than we lose the gamble. I'm more an OL kind of guy, but we have very few difference makers on offense. Last year we were defficient on both player quality AND scheme. Hopefully we will have a good scheme. Hopefully We've added RB that will improve player quality. Both of our RB's we already have were good, but neither could pick up a large chunk of yards. Especially Lynch. I love his bruising, always falling forward style. But I hate that it added up to 4 yards at best. I disagree that it's the same old Bills. We now have the scouts in charge, with the coaches or GM wannabees as secondary. I don't care what position we draft, I just want my draft to look like: 1> Hall of Famer 2> Hall of Famer 3> Pro-Bowler 4> Pro-Bowler 5> Pro-Bowler 6> Pro-Bowler 7> Pro-Bowler The closer we are to that, I don't care what their positions are. If Spiller is a Hall-of-Famer or Pro-Bowler it was a good pick.
  2. Ahhh, a goal line package. Heck ANY package that can potentially stop the other team from getting 1 yard. I sure hope so.
  3. That's like saying a poke in the eye is better than a kick in the nads. Although I disagree that Ellis is better. Ellis has demonstrated over time that he doesn't have it and never will. Maybin hasn't proven that yet. He may yet surprise those who doubt him.
  4. Naw, this was a follow-up to him talking trash about Levi Brown who he knows because they both went to the same college (Troy). McKelvin said to Levi that he was going to intercept some of Levi's passes but turned out to never be on the field at the same time with him. But he got two off of Brohm and was happy about it. That's all, it's a non-issue.
  5. I didn't say that. Just that it'll raise the price.
  6. More! More! More! Is it football season yet?
  7. Not to mention, Peters was a Pro-Bowl LT not just a LT. Price will be higher.
  8. Chambers was cut last year and brought back when all of our tackles got injured. He's really only showed that he's not good enough to stick around. I doubt seriously that he makes it. Chris Ellis has shown himself to be a slower, poor-man's version of Maybin. As an undersized DE the transition to OLB is his last chance to stick on the roster. If he cannot play in space then he won't make it. I didn't have high hopes for him before and he's consistently underperformed even those. Lonny Harvey is huge. This gives a lot of people who haven't seen him hope that maybe he can be a giant body in the middle that can't be moved. Unfortunately there's a lot more to football than being huge.
  9. So far Bell has been injured a couple times. Injuries are an "easy" way to crack the starting lineup. Even if he's not ready. See Bell, Merideth, et al.
  10. First off, Tim owes you nothing. Second, of course 150 clicks is inaccurate. But it shows the scale of importance. 150 to 1,500,000 means that 10,000 times more people read his stuff from a source other than TBD. Who cares if even ten times more people read his stuff than the 150 clicks that show up directly. It's not relevant to the overall number.
  11. I agree, Nix has been pretty honest. Not completely so in the sense that he sidesteps some questions or answers them a little ambiguously because he HAS to. It's still a competition for players with the other teams. He & Chan say they want to see what they've got as they have talent. (bottom-end IMO) but also that they'll improve the team when the see a good opportunity. I've been VERY happy to see how they've sniffed around all kinds of deals but only ended up with a few. I'm very happy with the ones that they've made and I'm happy that they haven't overpaid to get others. There was nobody available that would have saved our team. So they didn't break the bank for ones that might have offered a marginal improvement. Probably the closest would have been McNabb, but he's not a slam dunk either. But they looked at him, and found out what the cost would be. In their opinion the cost was too much and I'm okay with that. They are doing the job that they SHOULD be doing and I'm very happy with it so far.
  12. I'll agree that the highlight video had some impressive stuff. I think that he's definitely got some football player in him. His measurables are apparently pretty crappy and he's apparently inconsistant, but you don't get to be the leader in both sacks and tackles for loss in the toughest conference by luck alone. A steal as an UFA.
  13. To me as well. Actually, I thought he was closer to a full step out of position but could make up half-a-step with his speed. (but still leaving him a half-step out) I was very impressed with Drayton last year. He was both consistent and had very good plays. Not a turnover machine but had many great denials. I'm a touch more comfortable with Drayton as the starter even if it's to help light a fire under McKelvin to beat out the wiley veteran.
  14. You're sarcasm meter looks like it's running a little low. You should get that sucker in for a tune-up.
  15. He was cast off from the Raiders because he couldn't live up to the RIDICULOUS contract they (should never have) gave him. http://www.nfl.com/freeagency/story?id=090...mp;confirm=true Willingness to play for the league minimum after earning $14million over the last two years just so he can play football contradicts your statement that football isn't important to him. He was a good and productive receiver. He's not too old. He may not cost much. I'd be reasonably happy to sign him and see if it can work out.
  16. I was impressed by his willingness to give up much/most of his contract with the Raiders because he was too injured to live up to it. If he's truly healthy and doesn't want much money, heck yeah!
  17. I disagree. How much worse of a team would we be without useful/exceptional players that we get in the second round such as Byrd, Schoebel, etc.
  18. Well we also have B. Scott who was our starting SS for a while until he was hurt and came back and started at LB because we were out of them. He just signed a two year deal. I'm quite happy to have him back. I thought he was a pretty decent SS. Many here liked him better than Whitner. So that's 4 safety's which is all we'd carry on the full roster. if we trade Whitner we'd need to take a flyer on a low draft pick or have Lankster/Harris convert if we think they have enough promise to keep one of them around.
