  1. Some cool stuff. I think that they REALLY don't like Reiff. http://wgr550.com/pages/12022322.php?pid=234955
  2. He's got the opportunity to improve. Who knows if he can actually take a step forward. We've seen plenty of guys who have showed a little something, but have been unable to do more in subsequent years. See Ko "I'm worth Millions" Simpson. DBell was one who started out pretty rough but was able to consistently get better. He's the exception. I don't have a lot of faith in Hairston.
  3. I agree that picking people to fail isn't so big a stretch. However, These anonymous quotes are from people EMPLOYED by NFL teams. There is NO way that they're going to give out glowing review on lesser prospects that they feel they might get. It'd be stupid.
  4. Yeah... every draft is a 10. The goal is to make a dynasty or keep one.
  5. It baffles me. Just how stupid can you be? It's not like this is a surprise test. It's AT THE COMBINE. Everyone knows about it in advance!
  6. Nix said in the luncheon yesterday that there are fewer and fewer TE's being utilized by college teams these days. It's primarily spread offenses. He gives this as the reason there are few quality TEs in the draft.
  7. Tannehill. Just say no to overdrafted QBs.
  8. So from the winning superbowl team(very small sample) two 1st rounders and 6 second rounders. 8 out of 11 sure sounds like you need to invest a 1st or 2nd round pick in an LT. I'm not completely of that opinion, as I think Bell (7th round) was good enough, and I think that Peters (undrafted) was good enough. But your evidence does show that it's way more likely than not to have needed a 1st or 2nd rounder.
  9. It leapt out at me as well. But I have no idea how to interpret it. It sure seemed like a hot potato kind of answer. So... is it weird that I've watched it 5 times already trying to glean some information out of it? After further review: I think they like him.
  10. Buddy is pretty straight. Yes he doesn't come out and directly say a guy sucks. BUT he's willing to say that we're really weak at a position or in its depth. This means he thinks we suck there. Listen to his comments on depth of the CB. He says that when McGee is healthy he's as good as anyone. But when we get to our depth like we did the last two years, we can't compete. This is a pretty strong indictment of McKelvin and IMO Florence. Obviously the coaching staff feels the same about McKelvin as he was demoted to below a 7th round rookie despite all the injuries. After listening to that I'd be shocked if we didn't draft a CB in rounds 1 or 2.
  11. Thanks! I looked on bb, but it didn't show up for me. Hmmph. Don't entirely know what to make of that. Said that Hairston was a good enough starter. I got the impression that he felt a really good LT better be taken early. Pro-bowl ones tended to be drafted in the first 8 or 9 picks. The second part of that clip where he thought LTs are difference makers in that they raise the whole team up. This along with him saying we needed two tackles, leads me to believe that we'll go LT "early". probably rnds 1-3. I haven't watched Glenn, but he seems to fit Nix's profile. Whaley's comments back up that they'd try him at tackle first, but wisely doesn't mention LEFT or not: “For us a guy with that size and that type of foot athlete you try him out at tackle,” said Whaley. “We believe that he’s got a chance to play there and produce there at a high level.” So rarely in a draft do I have NO idea what the heck is going to happen.
  12. wait... How'd you get this? I can't find anything anywhere.
  13. a> Floyd - Nix has said that he wants playmakers first and foremost. I think he may not be there at 10. b> Cordy Glenn - Nasty & Huge. Very good production at SEC school. Worst case gives us a monster RT. c> Gilmore - If they think he's a real playmaker, Nix will pick him.
  14. Naw, then we speculate on how good our draft was and how others graded our draft.
  15. Yeah, I agree. I don't expect too much out of depth guys. But we got nothing out of any of those other picks. Another team managed to squeeze some production out of (gasp) Maybin and Lankster filling out a roster spot. But we got nothing out of either. So for that lack of depth, I'm disappointed. Don't forget, that changing systems can give fringe guys another shot to prove themselves. None had the talent to stick. Even with the lack of depth bodies, It's a B+ from me.
  16. As everyone else is, I'm disappointed with the #11 pick. But a miss is a miss, be it a 1st rounder or a 7th. The only difference is that we're LESS likely to miss with a 1st rounder. A number of NFL guys have said that they'd like to get 2.5 starters out of every draft. We did better than that, and the three aren't just decent starters, but very good ones. We should be so lucky EVERY draft. My only quibble is that we got no depth other than the three. Pluses: 3 Excellent starters that would be difficult to upgrade. Minuses: No other (competent) backup players even as emergency fill-ins. Grade: B+
  17. I second this. Not worth #10, probably not around in round 2. I like much of what I've seen of SH, but it's SUCH a small sample size because he wasn't thrown to much. Not only that, in his highlight videos look how often the CB is busy looking into the backfield trying to help stop the overpresent run, run and more run that the GT offense does. He won't have that distraction luxury in the NFL. He's definitely an athlete, and willing team player, but can he be a productive WR in the NFL? RISKY bet.
  18. Tears of laughter and weird looks from those around me. Nicely done guys.
  19. The comment about him being too slow for safety and too small for a LB was a _perception_ when he was an incoming HIGH-SCHOOL player, before he even played a single college game. He obviously proved he was large enough, and fast enough to excel. Not just excel but get 158 tackles for SECOND in the nation as a "too small, too slow" freshman! You can doubt him (I've never seen him play) but don't rely on that quote for your justification.
  20. Well _maybe_ we might have, if he'd have been able to stay healthy. I'd rather have him than not have him, but that's too much money. I don't blame him for taking the money and running. He's clearly not going to stay healthy for the long haul, so he's got to get it while he can.
  21. Um, yup. They were more than on the phone with him, they flew him out over the weekend. BUT, he left town today/yesterday(?) without a deal. Rumor is that they only offered a 1 year deal.
  22. I'm not sure that the Bills have offered him the best. I think that it's more likely that nobody has offered him stupid money despite there being essentially no LTs on the market. Even though he's the best of a bad crop, it's pretty clear that teams are very wary of his injury history. All we have to go by are rumors and the fact that he's visited a lot of teams and not signed an offer. I don't blame him for looking around and seeing if anyone is desperate enough to give him "Meachum money". Rumor has it that most teams have offered him short contracts for less money or have offered him a RT job. I think that Bell has had more time to be on the market without loss of value compared to most FA. There is almost NO competition for his services. Only the draft. So he hasn't lost too many options, IMO. I hope we keep him. He's solid enough and we're desperately shy of depth and I'm not convinced Hairston is capable of being a LT.
  23. I think that Mario is likely. He's got name recognition, and I believe that with our inside DT's he'll get some nice stats as well. I have a good feeling about Byrd this year. I think that he'll capitalize tremendously on the rush we'll generate up front. He's shown he has a nose for the ball and can catch it. He's shown that he works hard and has improved his game. This year I think that he puts it together and shines.
  24. I'm going to join the parade of "I can'ts". Seems like he's a Nix style player at a position of need with fewer warts than many of the other possible draft choices. If he's a quality DB we could have one heck of a pass defense. LBs? Pretty weak. Hopefully strong enough to keep opponents from running down our throat.
