  1. Bad idea. I was listening to the "experts" the other day on the NFL Network and someone asked about Branch. Bottom line: They said he's too big to play in a Cover Two scheme. He's a nose tackle in a 3-4 or you put him outside to rush the passer.
  2. Agreed. Prepare for RB by committee in 2007 which will be fine, with a full-time starter by 2008.
  3. I like the A-Train as a #2. There's no sense in overpaying though.
  4. This guy is a steal. He's better than Josh Reed and Andre Davis.
  5. NFL Network reporting the Duckett deal is 1 year at $1.5 million.
  6. Seems to me that the Lions chose Duckett because they have Tatum Bell now too. Chris Brown and Bell seem almost like the same type of back. Duckett is a lot bigger.
  7. Yeah, definitely! He's not on the NFL lists because he isn't officially on a team.
  8. I'm not worried about the RB situation in Buffalo, I'm really not. I'd rather be in limbo than overpay for someone who we'll wish we didn't by training camp. I did want to see who was out there that isn't being talked about. The pickings are slim so I can see why some teams have pushed the panic button. Here's the best of the bunch--strictly #2 or #3 backs. That's all I was looking at them for. Unrestricted Free Agents: James Mungro-Colts Eight TD's his first year as mostly a short-yardage back, hasn't been seen much since. Tore ACL in 2006 pre-season. Correll Buckhalter-Eagles A good receiver for a RB. Oh, the injury history! Denver (of course) is interested in signing him as a backup. Reno Mahe-Eagles He pretty much IS Shaud Williams. Stephen Davis-Rams He's still playing? T.J. Duckett-Redskins One word: yuck Ron Dayne-Houston If we don't re-sign A-Train, I could get used to him being a #2 back. How about a 1-yr deal? Restricted Free Agent: Maurice Hicks-SF 49'ers (SF has right of first refusal-no draft picks required) Looks like he can play RB, receive, and return kicks. Played more RB in 2004-2005, was a KR almost exclusively in 2006.
  9. Good for him. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...7030801860.html
  10. Dang! During the year it was said that the 49er's would fight to keep him. I forgot he was even out there! I would have loved to see if Buffalo could have given him a shot. Barring injuries he put up some big numbers for SF in the past.
  11. Watching Dillon in the playoffs it doesn't look like he has much left in the tank. Talk about slow.
  12. He's 5'11-193, considered a bit small for an NFL back. I believe he was compared to Tiki Barber.
  13. How does he know how Walker would have been paid by other teams? This is a BS article to create a story. First of all the Bills HAVE TO SPEND MONEY. They can't stay $30 million under the cap as it's against the rules. I believe the salary cap is $109 million and the minimum cap is like $102 million. Where the Bills lose out to large market teams is on revenue from corporate sponsors, things like that. This idiot should know that. Dan Snyder is buying radio stations in the DC area that will broadcast the Skins games!! The Bills probably can't afford to do that and shouldn't even try.
  14. Marv's pretty smart, eh? The Bills were laying low in the weeds.
  15. 1. Bill Polian-Colts 2. Tom Heckert (Eagles) 3. Kevin Colbert, Director of Football Operations (Steelers) 2006/2007 GM of the Year-Mickey Loomis (Saints)
  16. The take it or leave it offer was 6 years at $21.6 million.
  17. Bly isn't a good fit for the Cover-2 scheme we employ.
  18. In fairness Denney had five of his six sacks in two games! He also had two forced fumbles and one recovery. Kelsay had 5.5 sacks and one forced fumble and recovery. They are the same player! Both with upside. I was a bit shocked that it was the Bills that came on strong for Kelsay, but now I'm okay with it. In reality only $13 out of the $24 mil is guaranteed. I'd like to see a better breakdown of how the contract works and what exactly he is getting per year. All the shouting might be about nothing.
  19. He's not a free agent until the period begins. The only team that can legally talk to him right now is the Bills, so it would be tampering.
  20. Regarding the TE position, I heard something on the NFL Network I totally agree with. Unless you can line up a guy in the slot, put him in motion, or move him around to create mismatches (see Antonio Gates or Tony Gonzales) it isn't worth drafting a guy on the first day. Period. The TE position has changed. Regarding the RB position, we should re-sign the A-Train and if we can get a #2 or #3 for McGahee other than Bush from Louisville who has been mentioned Antonio Pittman from Ohio State was clocked at 4.44/4.42 at the combine. He has some interesting skills. I know a lot of people are in love with the FB Brian Leonard of Rutgers (he ran a 4.49). He's going to be interesting to watch as an NFL player. He's a good runner and an excellent receiver. If you used him in combo with a true lead back he could be the next Mike Alstott.
  21. He's not that durable. He has a bad back that is going to bother him for the rest of his career not to mention the broken leg that is on the mend. However, if he would come cheap (doubt it) he would be a great insurance policy on the O-Line. I've heard that Luke's absence from the Giants is one of the reasons Eli Manning fell apart at the end of the year. That being besides the fact that he sucks!
  22. It's a ballsy move on our part. Willis pretty much has to be traded now. Drew Rosenhaus will be spouting off all over the place if it comes to training camp and Willis is still in Buffalo without a contract extension. Plus, we really don't have a starter on the team right now if Willis is gone. Although, first two rounds of the draft look pretty good for RB's.
  23. They are keeping Jacobs, but behind him they don't have anyone who can start. I think from the Giants perspective they wouldn't give up more than a #2 since McGahee is going to have to agree to a new contract since he's in his last year with Buffalo.
  24. They are reporting it right now on NFL Radio on Sirius. The Giants confirmed that they have talked to the Bills about McGahee. No potential compensation was mentioned.
