I don't like picking a RB in the 1st. I'd rather go LB or REALLY shake things up and go TE or WR, maybe CB. Peterson could be GREAT but his size and running style scare me--I think he could get hurt a lot. Lynch has some borderline character issues, but the good thing is I think there is a market for him and Peterson so we could end up with some draft picks from a team trading up to get one of them. I like the Turner idea, but A.J. Smith is starting to put on the hard-sell like a used car saleman. I see it as a buyers market with all of the available backs in the draft so the highest I would go is a 2nd round pick.

Using your method: 1-Olson-TE 2-Siler-LB 3-Allison-WR 3-Pittman-RB 4-DeOssie-LB

Is anyone else sick of Jeremy White?
DanInSouthBuffalo replied to yall's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Part of the problem is too much of one thing. They've all been taking vacations at WGR. Bulldog was on vacation and now he's sick. What drives me crazy even more are these hyperactive kids they have filling in as temporary sidekicks! -
Not that the Bills would ever draft him, but I wonder where/when Troy Smith will go to? Bill Cowher isn't around to draft him and try and make him into a "slash".

Who will Shock us this year?
DanInSouthBuffalo replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the shocker for me would be if we took a WR or better yet a TE like the guy from Miami. I think I would also be shocked if we actually took one of the RB's because my gut feeling tells me we are going to wait until the 2nd and/or third rounds. -
Vic Carucci was just on defending the Bills moves to them. Vic sez: 1) Spikes hasn't looked the same to him, doesn't have the "explosion" of speed needed to play in our defense. 2) Fletcher still pretty good and fairly quick but beginning to look like that type of player "in an older guys body". Seemed to concern the Bills going forward. 3) Losing McGahee is addition by subtraction. A-Train will provide a good foundation to go with an RB in the draft and/or another free agent 4) Losing Clements will hurt and no real way to equally replace him. 5) Likes Crowell at middle linebacker and thinks he can handle it. Ellison was a pleasant surprise and only got better as the year went on. A great sign. Pat Kirwan sez: 1) The loss of all this talent is going to put a lot of pressure on Losman (Note: Unless he means the offense might have to cover for the defense I'm not so sure I agree.) Plus this morning they (Tim & Pat) were GA-GA over the trade to Philly. They said the BIGGEST part of the deal--throw everything else out---was Holcomb going to Philly. Huge coup for Philly (Note to them: We thought he would be GREAT for us---turned out to be pretty marginal at best) That's all I can remember.................

Walker of questionable character??
DanInSouthBuffalo replied to GoBillsDB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Walker is supposed to be a great guy on/off the field. As a bonus his wife went to the Wharton School of Business (see Donald Trump) and owns her own engineering firm. Anyway, he'll be great in rotation with Triplett. They have our depth chart screwed up on the Bills site. As I understand it it should be Triplett & Walker at three-technique tackle and McCargo, Williams, and Anderson at nose tackle. Not sure about Jason Jefferson. -
Cash to Cap is Hurting the Bills
DanInSouthBuffalo replied to jahnyc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No they won't. Let's wait and see how this offseason progresses. They are re-shaping the team right now and I think they plan is worked well so far. Spending money doesn't equal success, ask the Redskins. Bottom line, none of the players you mentioned about have brought us to the playoffs. Neither did Sam Adams, Drew Bledsoe, or Lawyer Milloy. Big name-high dollar free-agents don't always equal success. In our case I'd say the return on our investment was VERY poor. I'm at peace at the moment knowing the entire Bills organization seems to be on the same page as to how they want to shape this team. -
Michael Bush has another surgery on the broken leg

Normally I'd say you are 100% correct. However, didn't Mike Shanahan blow a first day draft pick on Maurice Clarett? -
Michael Bush has another surgery on the broken leg
DanInSouthBuffalo replied to syhuang's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think someone in a good situation already RB-wise will take him a bit earlier. Poor guy, he's gone from a sure 1st round, to mid-2nd, and now probably 3rd or later. -
What I keep saying is if there are no trades in the top 10 (seems unlikely this year though) then Peterson has a good chance of falling to us. I think there are two teams that are "wild-cards" in front of us; Minnesota and Houston. They have a lot of needs but not really at running back. I could see Green Bay trying to move up for Peterson and Denver (already rumored to have tried to move up to top 5) moving up for possibly a defensive player.

They were talking about him on NFL Radio on Sirius. If he doesn't get selected on Day One---he could be one of the first off the board on day #2. He's the son of former NFL player Steve DeOssie.

1. RB Adrian Peterson-there's no way he's there at 12---if he slips from the top 5 someone will trade up for him--I'll guarantee that. 2. RB Marshawn Lynch 3. ILB Patrick Willis 4. CB Leon Hall If it was me and if one of those four guys isn't there I would trade down just a couple of picks getting another #2 in the process. I might consider trading down anyway. And just to add drama to the draft--like many accused the Bills of doing last year, my #5 selection is: 5.Greg Olsen-TE (Miami)-6'5 and runs with 4.4 speed. A mismatch at TE and a big target.
-
I think the Bills are looking for a bargain. None of those guys is "the answer". Dayne intrigues me as an insurance policy.

A super-sleeper pick for round 4 (if he lasts that long), Chris Henry of Arizona U. I think that's the guy they compared to Curtis Martin.

Do we need to draft a Tight End?
DanInSouthBuffalo replied to Blue Chipper's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can't believe Eric Johnson signed a 1-year deal with NO. I would have taken a gamble on him. I guess it's a bad year for draft a TE, other than Olson or Miller they mostly grade as blocking TE's. -
I voted for Pittman. If Leonard were still there at our first #3 pick I'd draft him too.
-
Interesting draft. But there's a bunch of things that won't happen. Detroit: won't take a WR--NO WAY! Washington: needs a DE, probably Adams maybe Anderson Minnesota: desperately needs a WR playmaker or secondary help. Word has it they love Ted Ginn for the return ability, I bet they are the candidate to trade down and still get Ginn.

Moulds would like to come back
DanInSouthBuffalo replied to MadBuffaloDisease's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly. Eric should remember why he was traded from Buffalo in the first place. -
I don't like this part if it's true. It says "I'm lazy---find me a gig." I guess he fired his first agent because he left Detroit without getting him signed there.

Why DT Alan Branch will be there at 12

I'm not great at this but I'll try. I thought that in a defense that employs a Cover-Two scheme that quick penetrating tackles are employed. That's why they got Larry Tripplett, got rid of Sam Adams and didn't draft Haloti Ngata. In the Cover-Two or the Tampa-2 (the version that we run) relies on smaller, faster players who "run to the ball". Each player is responsible for his "own gap". Branch is a classic two-gap to clog the middle---like Sam Adams. I'm getting confused because the draft reports I'm reading on him say that he could be used (and he has played) in a 3-4 as an end or a nose tackle or either tackle spot in a 4-3. They say he's quick---for his size---but his 40 time is well over five seconds. What they were saying (actually it was former Bears DE Tim Ryan on Sirius) is that because of his size (6-6, 331) that he was "way to big and slow" for a Cover-2. That's what I heard and it seems to make logical sense. -
With The 12th Pick The Buffalo Bills Select?
DanInSouthBuffalo replied to Yasin's BILLS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Unless they LOVE Marshawn Lynch I see them going Okoye or Hall if they are there. I think we are in no-mans land unless the top guys at each position are still there. I would move down a couple of slots if it nets us another 1st or early second round pick. I think it's way to early to select Willis at #12. I could be wrong. -
Terrence Copper of New Orleans in an UFA. He would probably be our #2 or at worst #3 if we could get him. Very underrated. Someone needs to give him a chance.
