There's a guy on Sirius NFL Radio and writes for ESPN that was a coach & scout (Dean Dalton) who says he doesn't think Sweed has the speed to be a #1 receiver in the NFL. He actually sees him as an "H-Back" like Chris Cooley of the Redskins and could be great that way.

Trade rumors involving Detroit's pick at #2.
DanInSouthBuffalo replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If the Raiders take Russell and Detroit can't come to terms on a deal to trade the #2 quickly they could force leverage by taking Johnson. Calvin Johnson seem to be the annointed prize in this draft so the way I see it either Detroit drafts him or trades their pick or the player for appropriate picks. -
What does anyone know about Lorenzo Booker?

Just to to NFL.com. They have scouting on everybody. http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/2007/booker_lorenzo -
What about this to address the RB situation
DanInSouthBuffalo replied to CJPearl2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's going to be very interesting to see who drafts Leonard and watch how he's used in the NFL. I don't think it's going to be as a feature back. Seeing how the Bills have come out and said they aren't going to use a fullback I'd say the chances aren't good that we would draft him. I wouldn't be surprised to see an NFC team like Philly, Tampa, or the Giants draft him. -
Julius Jones - Likely to be traded
DanInSouthBuffalo replied to JuanGuzman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, we traded McGahee for the same reason. And would put Dallas in the exact same position that the Bills are in---needing a true #1 guy. Jones is versatile but I don't think I'd give up a lot to get him. -
Tiki is 5-10/205. Wolfe is too small to be a RB but he could end up as the next Dante Hall who is 5-8/187.

This is 100% correct according to what I've heard on the NFL Network. The idea is that with Willis' speed and playmaking ability that you want to put him on the weak-side so he can use his speed to make plays. They used Derrick Brooks and Lance Briggs as an example. Then in four or five years he could move to the inside and be the "QB of the defense".

Calvin Johnson If you are going to spend that much money, it might as well be a sure-fire pick. If they don't want to take him they should trade no lower than #4 and be guaranteed a QB or Joe Thomas.

My Draft thoughts
DanInSouthBuffalo replied to The Cincinnati Kid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You're right, I don't like that idea either. The only way I would go looking for a different type of back is to compliment a starter (For example the Pats had Maroney/Dillon and Faulk was the compliment). Draft your future starter in round #2 and in round #3 to #5 select a sleeper. Someone like Kolby Smith (Louisville), Dwayne Wright (Louisville), or Darius Walker (ND). Hopefully, one or both pans out and can help the team immediately. -

First round RB busts from Penn State. Maybe it's the system? D.J. Dozier (1987) Blair Thomas (1990) Ki-Jana Carter (1995) Curtis Enis (1998) -

I kind of agree. We need some talent at the position, more than just one guy. -
A Few Draft Scenarios

I really like both of those guys as role players at LB and special teams. If one of those guys has to start we COULD be toast. -
A Few Draft Scenarios
DanInSouthBuffalo replied to WVUFootball29's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Honestly, I can't see trading up. We have four first day picks and we need to make them count. 1) Staying put I think Willis is the target guy. I don't see them taking a RB there and I really am beginning to like CB-Leon Hall but for some reason I think the Bills would address that later if they feel there's a need. I think they're counting on Youboty. 2) Trading down has it's merits. We could still get a LB like Beason or Posluzny and get any number of great RB's available in round two and three. By trading down I think the wild card is that an extra pick (or two) either gives us an extra player or ammo to trade up earlier in one of the first three rounds to get another player we covet. Imagine with the extra pick getting a guy like Dwayne Jarrett or Anthony Gonzales at WR or one of the premier TE's like Greg Olson or Zack Miller, and Brian Leonard would be a great luxury pick as well. This is going to be an exciting draft. -
Ted Ginn could be slipping a bit
DanInSouthBuffalo replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No way. I heard a different perspective on his workout. He still ran a 4.4 even though his injury still bothers him. -
He sat behind Vic on the plane into Buffalo last night.

Draft Insiders Digest (Frank Coyle)
DanInSouthBuffalo replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Was that written before his combine workout? Must be. By all accounts the mock drafts have Willis going from 8-12 and Poz going from 15-20+, so.........we'll see. -
There's a statement from Bledsoe on PFT.com. He's done.

Trading down possibilities and scenarios
DanInSouthBuffalo replied to daquix's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the first candidate is Green Bay. If Peterson is still available at our pick would Green Bay like to move up? Or is letting Marshawn Lynch fall to them pretty much guaranteed? I think that's the first logical possibility at our spot. The second is if a QB or a guy like Okoye is available-----I think our phone would be ringing off the hook! -
I'm satisfied. The proof will be in the line-play. I was ready to just throw Preston, Butler, and Pennington in there and be done with it. Now, with the three new additions in the off-season hopefully we don't waste draft picks on the O-Line. We have starters and plenty of depth.

Why is Pittman being overlooked?
DanInSouthBuffalo replied to Helmet_hair's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Pittman is one of the guys I want. If we can't get Patrick Willis, I'd rather trade down and pick up another #2 to ensure we get a guy like Pittman in round #2 -
Modrak to have his future freed up?
DanInSouthBuffalo replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the perceived problem by outsiders is that what the Bills have in place isn't enough these days. I'm not saying they're correct because I like what I've seen for the most part. I mean they cleaned up about five years worth of garbage and made a better presentation of it in one year. Again, I think they are saying that the Bills decision makers aren't doing enough homework and other teams have much better systems in place. Oh, and for what it's worth. I think Modrak is a fine talent evaluator, that's what he's good at. He's not going to find talent sitting in the office in Orchard Park! -
