  1. The Skins could desperately use a pass-rush too and Dan Snyder is thinking of trading his whole draft to get Mark Sanchez? After they put all of the work into Jason Campbell and draft two WR's and a TE??? WOW. Source: http://www.eastcoastsportsnews.com/als09scoop.html
  2. I wouldn't force a tackle into the first round if the talent isn't good enough. I'd take one of the centers (who also play guard) either Alex Mack or Eric Wood. That's like two positions for the price of one and you beat the Steelers to the punch who will probably select one.
  3. I wouldn't move up for Oher, no-way, no-how. I'd stay at #11 or move down. Beatty (definitely) or Andre Smith (probably) will be there. Yes, he has some baggage but Andre Smith was DOMINATING as a player for four years at Alabama. Some scouts have characterized him as the "most dominant OT since Orlando Pace". I'd rather take some of the risk with A. Smith than some of the comments I've heard about Oher and his football intelligence. If the Bills get that desperate for an OT that early instead of letting the draft come to them they are going to make a huge mistake, IMHO.
  4. I saw a funny comment from a scout somewhere that said Beatty plays tackle "like a cake-eating, chardonnay drinker".
  5. I'd rather trade down from #11 to the mid-teens and probably get the same guy, maybe picking up an extra #2 or even a high pick next year in the process. Keep the #28. The Pats do it every year and that's how you build a REAL team.
  6. I don't like Oher. I know he played well in college but I keep hearing things like "waistbender". That will get you killed or at least dumped on your a$$ in the NFL. The profile above makes me think of two words: Mike Williams.
  7. I just heard it there as well. They said it was "around" the same deal that Jordan Gross got from Carolina.
  8. Which ALMOST doesn't matter since it is indoors.
  9. A nice late free-agent signing after the rush. There's at least the other answer at center the Bills didn't have. I still would like to see the Bills draft one though as this is a great year. A lot of the prospects project to guard as well so I think we'd be covered both ways.
  10. I love the O-line prospects this year, and I hope the Bills will load up early with at least two in the first four rounds. I like Kraig Urbik-G from Wisconsin that you mentioned. I also like Rich Ohrnberger-G from Penn State and actually A.Q. Shipley-C from Penn State intrigues me. That's the guy who they say has short arms and his body type is a bit "square". But, watch him play and he lights it up. Very smart too. When teams like the Bears and Steelers are interested in guys like that you know there's talent there. A later sleeper pick of mine is Stanford center Alex Fletcher. His measurables are pretty good, had a great workout at combine/pro-day, etc. He doesn't even seem to be on the radar as a center all that much, and he's way down the list as a guard. I didn't even think about it until now but he probably played with Trent Edwards. http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dspro...09&genpos=C
  11. All Turk "loves" is watching his TE's block or drop/fumble the football so far!
  12. Loosely translated: We might have made a mistake and he won't make it out of training camp if he doesn't show us something.
  13. I think a couple of the centers in the draft can easily play guard (Wood, Unger). Like the posts above said, f-l-e-x-a-b-i-l-i-t-y is the key. We need a guard but ALSO a backup at center.
  14. He wasn't. He was just on Sirius/NFL athough and said that the Bills told him when he came here that if he played well and stayed healthy that they would extend his deal.
  15. That's close to what my thinking was except with the first two 1st round picks the Bills still go DE or LB to shore up pass rush help and Pettigrew because he can also block and would more-or-less be a complete TE that we need. 2nd Round: O-line, here's where you get your guard or future center. Two 3rd round picks: LB, DT or safety first and another OL in my opinion. If they pick a center in RD-2 they need a guard here, or vice-versa.
  16. Except they said he didn't attempt to make any of the difficult throws at his workout (ie: deep outs). Buyer beware.
  17. I've also heard Cortland State.
  18. Fiammetta supposedly is a good receiver too. The Bills just re-signed Corey McIntyre to a two year deal so unless he's there REALLY LATE in the draft I can't see them spending a pick on him. But hey, what do I know, everytime we sign a veteran to one of these one or two year deals they get cut in camp.
  19. I'll have a fit if they do that. The screaming needs are for pass-rush help, offensive line at guard and center (like who is the backup for Handgartner?), and outside linebacker. The Bills always backtrack to other positions and leave key needs unaddressed. It speaks of poor talent evaluation, especially on the pro-personnel level where guys they sign end up getting cut before camp.
  20. A couple of OL's as I'd like to see some attitude and passion in our line-play: Kraig Urbik-G-Wisconsin. 45 straight starts most at RG about and 1/3 at RT. Big (6-5 328), suited toward a power running game. Not the greatest athlete but could be a great 3rd round pick. I'd like to see some Big 10 linemen on this team who have played against excellent competition and in cold weather. an interesting stat from NFLDRAFTSCOUT.com: "According to coaches stats, in his final two seasons Urbik had 26 blocks that resulted in touchdowns and allowed only three sacks and two pressures on 680 pass plays." Rich Ohrnberger-G-Penn State and A.Q. Shipley-C-Penn State. I'm not a JoePa apologist but these two guys have a lot of upside in the 2nd or 3rd round. Shipley has short arms which scouts never like but he just plays well. Scored a 40 on the Wonderlic. Ohrnberger's description sounds to me a lot like ex-Bill Ross Tucker; smart, wisecracker, hard-nosed player.
  21. New England got three, Cincinnati four, Tennessee four, etc. Bills....zero. http://www.profootballtalk.com/2009/03/23/...ry-draft-picks/
  22. A "source" according to eastcoastsportsnews.com sez the Broncos have asked teams if they are interested in trading for one of their backs. Those named were Selvin Young, Ryan Torain and Peyton Hillis. Hillis was a 7th round pick out of college. Wonder if they would consider a package deal for Hillis and the TE Scheffler? Lynch, Jackson, and Hillis would be a deadly combo!
  23. Parrish is worth more to the Bills than he is as trade-bait. The whole T.O. experiment is a one-year deal. Why blow up the best PR this team has ever had? Plus they can't have McGee and McKelvin, starting corners, returning kicks all of the time. The last few posts are correct, it would be about getting a player in return. Not draft picks. A starting guard, DE, or TE would make me interested. Tony Gonzales anyone?
  24. Looking at the drafts now its easier to see who we passed up, but you have to think of need at the time. Here's mine: 2006-Trade down. I like the Whitner pick now but I think we could have moved and still got him. If not there would bet lots of positions we needed to address. 2007-Wanted Willis in the worst way. Lynch was the right pick in a weak RB draft. Looking back though, Brady Quinn might have been the best value. 2008-McKelvin
