To your point about taking so long between books (only to have Martin lay the turd that was Book 5), I am very hopefull that the HBO series will get him to come out with books a bit faster. He has been on record before saying that he'll take as long as he wants, and will NOT be forced into rushing something out due to fan impatience. Perhaps corporate influence will spur him on where the fans could not...

The first three books in this series were some of the best sci if I have ever read. However, the last two did little to advance the story, and were litttle more than bloated descriptions of what everyone ate, or wore, or what their flag looked like sprinkled in with some Martin classic lines such as about 1000 " you know nothin John Snows", " if I look back I am lost" and gratuitous sexual content. A more appropriate title for book 5 would have been, "A Lacking of Editors". I fear this series will go much like Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time and never be completed...

Actually, I believe it is an opinion Steve, and I also believe it is an incorrect opinion. There are six libraries in my immediate area, all of which are slam full of people every single weekend, and most weekdays. Libraries are modernized with DVDs, Blu-rays, ebooks, etc. They also do lots of activities for children, book readings and such. I would say that most people without kids probably use libraries less, but they are very well utilized in our community...

True, but I strongly believe that in order win a presidential election, you MUST carry the independant/undecided vote. There is nothing either party can do to get the other party members to vote for that guy, so those who do not blindly pull the colored levers will carry the day...

As a father of two little boys, age 3.5 ( haha) and 1 month, it is so ridiculously easy to NOT get pregnant. A little self control goes a long way. My views on this have "evolved" somewhat, but I consider myself pro-choice, I just wish people would make a different choice. However, getting this so called late term or partial birth abortion is just plain repugnant to me...
