Mankins for Jackson? Could it happen?
Marv's Neighbor replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It seems it may be easier to "rebuild" the AUD and the ROCKPILE! -

Resuce attempt for Miners in "officially" underway
Marv's Neighbor replied to stevestojan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Would that Rescue device work with our Football program? -
San Francisco, of all places, should be praising the US Military for allowing them to "exercise" their "freedoms." Instead, most people on the left coast are very apethetic towards the men & women who serve. Having lived in Seattle for 20 years, the Puget Sound area is ringed with: Fort lewis, McChord AFB, Bremerton, Bangor, Whidby Island etc. yet our servicemen are essentially not welcomed in the area. Seeing people on the street, in uniform, is rare, Now I live in S. Virginia and the attitudes of citizens toward the Military are remarkably positive, and that's a good thing. When the Blue Angels fly over Norfolk, it's a Big event and the entire area actually welcomes them. Too bad it's not like that everywhere in the USA!

Where does the blackout area end?

I don't think the old coat hanger trick will work anymore, since all the TV signals went to Digital. -
What if Ralph doesn't die?
Marv's Neighbor replied to Another Point of View's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They already tried that with Al Davis and it didn't work! -
What Happens when Ralph Wilson dies ?
Marv's Neighbor replied to I hate the Bills !'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Will he be buried in the End Zone ala Hoffa? The Stadium is already named after him so that would save a few bucks on a Monument. That LA Stadium everybody talks about is for Bull Fighting. -
Have we reached a tipping point?

We've passed "tip," gone on to capsize and finished up completely rolled! -

I wish I could tell you it was going to get better! Truth is, most of them have lost most of their retirement benefits to Airline Bankruptcies and restructuring. The really senior people fly internationally. It's a grind working West USA to Asia but they only have to do it 3-6 times a month, depending on the length of the trips, so they're likely to hang in there as long as possible. Asia to East USA is even more flying hours so they would have less days to work. Even if they could afford to retire, they would lose most of their medical coverage, and that's a big item as you get older! Even the foreign Flag Carriers are getting that way because their retirement ages keep moving up. That's why the riots in France, Greece etc.

Great Article Out of Milwaukee
Marv's Neighbor replied to ExiledInIllinois's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I'm glad to hear that! Obviously you still live in the area and are more aware. Back to my point, how old are the Bridges into Canada? Both the International and Niagara Falls Suspension Bridges have to be between 80-100 years old. They may be adequate now but there's no way to easily expand them. IF Buffalo could make a turn around, they would be inadequate to say the least. Forget any type of high speed operations over those! I grew up in S Buffalo. I've been gone since 1970, but when I get back am always amazed at how many RR overpasses are not even there anymore. How many former rights of way seem to be abandoned. They are a mirror of the areas economic decline. They didn't all go away overnight, but were gradually phased out and removed. I hope Buffalo can turn around but it's been such a long slide down, it will take a lot to bring it back. -

Great Article Out of Milwaukee
Marv's Neighbor replied to ExiledInIllinois's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Unfortunately, you can't undo 50 years of economic back sliding. Even if the Seaway closed tomorrow we've already lost so much manufacturing capacity and railroad infrastructure that it would take 15-20 years just to rebuild enough to be competetive. WNY is so Tax-unfriendly toward business that Buffalo would have a hard time attracting any significant new action. Access to Canada is totally inadequate. The Peace Bridge has become a joke. The International Bridge from Black Rock to Fort Erie has to be close to 100 years old and nobody's even talking about replacing that. As much as I would like to see Buffalo have a big economic turn around, there's so much to be done and nobody to step up and start the process! -
As Chris Rock said: "OJ did it, but I understand!"

Congressman Johnson (D.GA) thinks Guam will capsize due to Military expansion. If he's right why not just wait for the whole island to turn over? Unless the snakes are good swimmers, that could be the answer to the snake problem on Guam. Dead mice in parachutes??? No wonder we haven't won a war since WWII!

Serious question - What if the Bills leave town?
Marv's Neighbor replied to beggar13's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
First, the BILLS leaving is still a very big IF! The NFL is fast pricing itself out of reality. Nobody goes to a game alone. When you consider how much it costs to take a: wife, date, family etc. it quickly gets unaffordable for most people. That's for a single game, Season Tickets are 20 times worse. We all know about the Jacksonville situation. The last fan there can turn out the lights and fold up the seat cover tarps! The Jets have a new Stadium that they can't sell out because of all the PSL crap and the overall expense of going to their games. The Redskins had a pat hand with RFK Stadium. Sold out-100 year waiting list etc. Now they can't fill FedEx and they're located next to a couple of the wealthiest Counties in the US! If the PATS start to lose-no better place to start than this Sunday-you will see a lot of empty seats there too. LA has proved they don't want/need the NFL. If LA is so great why did Al Davis leave? They have a better chance of selling out Bull Fights than they do NFL games! Considering the economy, with no near term end in sight, I can't see them moving, even if Ralph took the dirt nap right now! In answer to the question, I'd handle it the same way I did when the Braves moved....NBA??? What's the NBA??? -
Whatever became of the Shooting at his Birthday Party, last June? He said he left before it happened but the security cameras contradict that. Of course the LAWYA says Michael was miles away. (swear up & down) It seems that even being near a crime scene would violate the terms of his return to the NFL. Even if the NFL is buying the story, Vick's still hanging around with same people as before. Should he even be playing?

The problem is; in the Summer they've got Mosquitos as big as your head and in the Winter it's either ice fishing or stay warm in "The Dungeon." What would Al Franken do?
