Anybody relocated to a new part of the country
Marv's Neighbor replied to Helpmenow's topic in Off the Wall Archives
If you consider the massive population loss from WNY to points beyond, over the last 40+ years, If your a BILLS fan, you will likely be faced with these choices, or know people who have. It's often not easy, pleasant, or YOUR OWN choice but such is our Economy. If you wanna be with me you gotta have a J-O-B! I left in 1970. In 1970 NYS had well over 40 Representatives in the US House. Now I think NY is down to 28 or 29. New York City hasn't missed a beat, so who took the hit?? Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, and points N & S of Rochester & Syracuse. So if it's a support group, it's a big group to be sure, and possibly still growing! -

Chester is on the far E corner of Chesterfield County. It's very close to both I-95 and I-295 off Rte 10. It's near ENON which spelled backwards is NONE! It's also W of Hopewell which is recently famous as the current home of Twana Brawley-of Al Sharpton fame! If you drive S on I-295, cross the James River, you can see my house off to the W side of the road. -

Moved from BUF to N VA.-stayed 8 years. N VA to Seattle-stayed 2 years. Seattle to Chicago-stayed 1.5 years. Chicago to Houston-stayed 6 years. Houston back to Seattle-stayed17 years. "Retired" (CH11) and moved from Seattle to Williamsburg VA-stayed 15 months. Williamsburg to Chester VA. That's where I am now. Not crazy about the Richmond area but couldn't sell my house without losing a lot. I work in Richmond and it was a 50 mile drive each way to Williamsburg. 9 years ago I told my wife that we couldn't afford the gas for that drive, 5 days a week. Oh yeah...gas eas $1.60 a gallon then! All of that was mostly to keep a job. Worked for the same Company for 35 years till they went CH11. I'm now 9 years into a "2nd career" and consider myself lucky to have found it. I'll never have a house fully paid for but that's the breaks I guess. If you don't like NJ, you're smart to not buy anything because at the first light, you will be gone. When that day comes, and it will come, you won't have the problem of dumping a house. Moves and new jobs are enough stress without dealing with Realtors from out of town locations. -
IT WAS the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way- in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only. Tale of Two Cities...no, not Buffalo & Toronto!

You gave her a reference in December and tomorrow is March, and they're just getting off their ass to interview her now? Simply tell the interviewer the circumstance. If he/she think's it's important, it's up to them to act or not. You've done your best in either case.

Packer fan finally gets season tickets....
Marv's Neighbor replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When I moved to N VA, in 1970, The Redskins were still at RFK, Vince Lombardi was Coach, you couldn't buy a ticket for a game because the whole stadium was Season Ticket Holders. At that time the rumor was a 50 year waiting list. People wouid actually "will" their tickets to others. However, IF you were "connected" to someone, that wait all but disappeared. -
So is it any good in the Snow? A 1200 mile range is useless if you have a 250 mile bladder!

You're right, but as with the BILLS, didn't the Sabres just extend him?

Late for a flight? Don't worry.....
Marv's Neighbor replied to Just Jack's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Depending on the Airport Rules, which are approved by TSA, this would be a violation, and the employee could lose their SIDA Badge for this. In most cases, no Badge, No Job. Escorted or not, they were passengers and are subject to screening per TSA Regs. In this situation, TSA was agreeable to search the passengers inside the Sterile Atrea. They could have made them go back to the Check Point for screening. If they were unable to locate the passengers, they could have cleared the whole concourse for re-screening. Escorting only allows employees to move contractors, vendors or non-badged employees through Sterile Areas but is never used to bypass security. In order to get an Airport SIDA Badge the employee must be finger printed, pass a background check, obtain a Threat Assessment from TSA, and be approved by an Airport Security Coordinator. They don't just hand em out! It's a lot of BS BUT, it is what it is, like it or not. -
It has an assortment of "attachments!" Very multi-purpose EH?

Southwest has changed their business model. They used to favor a city like Manchester because it got them a piece of the BOS market while keeping their planes out of the BOS ATC mess. That was the way they operated for a long time. Now it's getting more, where can we make the most money? If BOS has better profit numbers than Manchester, BOS wins. Oil prices are rising again, and ATC is what it is, and what if has been since the 60's, slow, inefficient and unable to handle today's traffic volumes. IF fuel prices get high enough, and IF they are losing too much time getting in/out of BOS, they could always shift more traffic back to Manchester. It's kind of like the NFL....Show me the money!

It seems his standards were higher and his results pretty much confirmed that. IF he was still here, I don't think Stevie would have been mouthing off about his off-season non-training habits.
