  1. Except the specific resolutions always mentioned related to Iraqi WMD programs and their openness or lack thereof. We didn't march to Baghdad in 2003 because of their violation of the UN resolution to leave Kuwait in 1990.
  2. In part. Actually, the basis of the movie was Art Bell's incredibly stupid book "The Coming Global Superstorm", which itself used that as a basis. I mean, I can't understate how ungodly idiotic that book was. A "scientific" book on climate change should not have seven index references to global warming, but ten to alien civilizations.
  3. Actually, WMD's and non-compliance with the UN were basically the same reason.
  4. You just described the movie "Day After Tomorrow"... ...which is why I want to add, although it's NOT a myth and HAS happened in the past, it usually takes longer than five days.
  5. I think they were ranked #5 in the US...
  6. Yours was more to the point. I was just bitching that we had to read that sh-- again...you actually managed to not only point out that it really had precisely NOTHING to do with the topic of this thread, but to point out that it doesn't even have all that much to do with Iraq as it does to do with Santorum's election year challenge... I mean, this is NOT really news. After '91, Saddam dodged inspections by spreading everything around the country, hiding or destroying all the tracking info, and daring the UN to find it all. They didn't. So stuff is still popping up all over the place. The real story isn't that they find a shell every other day...the real story is Santorum not only thinks he needs to boost his poll numbers by announcing it, but that he thinks brining up this dusty old issue is actually going to HELP his poll numbers. I've got to think there's lots of Republican party officials sitting around saying "Santorum, you !@#$ing idiot!" today...
  7. Thank you. I was trying to think of the best way to point that out.
  8. A push. In theory. In any other part of the field, he's just going for the ball... I hasten to add, too, in the midst of all my bitching about officiating...if the calls were even and sensible, the US would still suck.
  9. I blame Bush. No, seriously, if we hadn't invaded Iraq and pissed off the entire international community, we'd be getting calls. No, really, I believe that.
  10. All true. This US team is so bad, I'm almost rooting for them NOT to advance, so I don't have to watch them embarras themselves in the next round...
  11. You know...you could simply link to one of the ninety other times this has been posted. Of course, even that is too much of an original thought for you...
  12. Hey, it could happen...the refs could award the US penalty kicks of their own... I almost got through typing that with a straight face, too... That call was unbelievable. I've been fouled worse than that sitting at my desk at work...
  13. She's a "recovering" bulemic.
  14. They awarded a penalty kick on that.
  15. Great play by Beasley, too. Great steal, great feed to Dempsey.
  16. Hell, I do already. Of course, I'm married...
  17. Nope. I actually know the guy at the Justice Department in charge of the prosecution's case. And he's said to me "Saddam's going to be executed." The trial's a complete farce. Perhaps a necessary one...but a farce nonetheless.
  18. Not necessarily. Properly stored, certain of Iraq's stocks could last quite some time. The odds of anything being properly stored since 1991, however, are astronomically low.
  19. Look at you. You're asking someone who consciously worships Kelly Holcomb if they want to back in to the playoffs. What happened to you, man? You used to be smarter than this...
  20. On Fox? Fox reports the wmd's found once a week. I think it's just a test they run..."This is a test of the emergency WMD broadcast system. This is only a test. If this had been an actual alert, pigs would fly and hell would have frozen over." Even if live munitions ready to be fired existed back in 2002, they're long gone by now. Still wouldn't stop Fox from reporting it, though.
  21. South Africa was providing aid to Libya's programs, too. Which just goes to show that the world is weirder than we can imagine.
  22. Hate Holcomb more than Flutie? What, are you drunk? The Losman/Holcomb "controversy" is just slightly less venomous than the infamous "crunchy vs smooth peanut butter" debate. Why the hell would anyone hate either of these guys?
  23. Plus, Smith was perfect for a one-back set: virtually no lateral mobility, but a wrecking ball running straight ahead. So what do they do? Put him in a two back set and ask him to cut around a lead blocker. How many times did we watch him run straight into Sam Gash's back and stop dead for a two yard gain? I still shudder to think what he could have done in a one-back set when simply coached "Antowain, don't worry about the LB in the gap. Just run through him. Sure, he'll tackle you for three quarters...but you'll get your yards in the fourth."
  24. It's worse than you think. Sudennlly, when I sit in my cheir, my feat no longir touch the floor. And I have this suddin strange erge to watch Daddy Day Care...
