  1. 1) It's NOT my birthday. 2) Shut the !@#$ up.
  2. That's right...I did ultimately usurp you, didn't I? Some revolutionary dictator I am...I forgot I siezed power.
  3. Nope. Carter and the mess at Desert One. I can't think of anything Reagan ever took responsibility for (too young at the time), likewise Bush I (too preoccupied with college), and Clinton's entire term was about avoiding responsibility as much as possible. "Don't ask, don't tell", his ridiculous see-sawing on Afghanistan...hell, he couldn't even take responsibility for playing "hide the salami" with a fat broad.
  4. But the $6 of my tax money that went into the Starr report provided me more entertainment than most of the movies I went to that year...
  5. Yes, it is. I figured a great many wouldn't recognize my sarcasm for what it was because of that. The basic argument always seems to be a variant of "Bush wasn't psychic", ignoring the two simple facts that: 1) the president's not supposed to be psychic, and 2) emergency response is delegated about two levels down (at least) from the Office of the President. So really, the basic argument is "Bush is bound by reality!" Well, !@#$ing DUH!
  6. Like I said...seems some evil bastard cut the wrong QB...
  7. She shouldn't need to. Bush should know she needs the troops and offer them without being asked.
  8. It was...and sh-- went wrong. sh-- ALWAYS goes wrong. That's why you always do an after-action report - to identify the sh-- that went wrong, so it doesn't go wrong again. The real complaint that everyone's making is that things didn't go perfectly. And aside from being the perfect example of the horribly immature American belief that anything not perfect is automatically bad, and aside from the fact that perfection is for people who don't have the balls to live in the real world...not only can no one complaining even begin to define the "perfect" response anyway, they probably couldn't make the case that the "perfect" response would have materially changed events anyway, if only because by the time you get to "response", you're by definition behind the curve. The "perfect" response, as EII's pointed out, was pretty much thrown by the wayside decades ago.
  9. He's shared his plan: scream "Why is it taking so long? It's been two days already!" at the top of his lungs, then claim the credit when things start happening on day 5. It's the Ray Nagin plan.
  10. It's not an opinion; he just quoted the actual timeline for an actual deployment. I believe that's called a "fact".
  11. I'll just consider these rainchecks for when it really IS my birthday...
  12. Not other people. Just you. And not because you have nothing to say, but because you REALLY need to stop digging that hole you're in.
  13. I saw the title of this thread, and thought maybe he dropped your fries at the local Burger King or something...
  14. I have serious oxymoronic issues with "intelligent design" and "Bush".
  15. Nope. That would require him to accept evolution. And it isn't not my unbirthday!
  16. It's close enough that it's pretty hot and muggy here. I find such weather very uncomfortable. What I want to know is: why is the federal response to my discomfort so slow????
  17. True enough. Though even you have to admit that "This only gets posted because he's a democrat" is defensive in and of itself. This is why I HATE mindless partisan politics. Why worry about Democrats vs. Republicans, when fundamentally they're all sh-- heads?
  18. So everyone's defense of an braying ass like Delay because they agree with his "R" justifies your defense of an braying ass like Jefferson, because you agree with his "D"? What is this, kindergarten? A braying ass is a braying ass.
  19. Takes time to set it up, probably? At the very least, it takes time to load a bus, and that's presuming they have stuff to load on to it. And now that I think about it...dropping off supplies probably would have done little if any good anyway, given the chaotic conditions. No means of distribution on-site, outside of "everyone grab what you can before somebody else does". If the idiot mayor had had the foresight to have even a rudimentary organization at the shelters for organizing and distributing supplies, maybe it would have done some good. Not in the situation he created, though.
  20. What insult? I samply stated four facts: 1) he's worked the problem, 2) you've admitted you're ignorant on the topic, 3) you've accused everyone else of being ignorant, and 4) spouting off in your admitted ignorance is not doing you justice. And to reiterate #4: you really need to just shut up. Now you've said you're not "denegrading" [sic] his knowledge...but you keep saying that you know better than him. BTW, if France sufferred a comparable disaster, their response time would be, roughly, never. It would destroy a good chunk of their entire country; they'd have nothing left to respond with.
  21. Well, I guess a message board would know better than I would.
  22. He spent last week working on the recovery efforts in the hurricane zone (not just New Orleans). You've admitted you're ignorant...and he doesn't have a clue? Again, you'd be looking a lot better here if you just kept quiet.
  23. Wha...? No, it's not my birthday.
  24. And Miami and New England have an "FFRS" number of 219...even though Miami had a better total offense, total defense, and margin of victory than NE. Same sort of weirdness with KC and Tampa. If I had to guess, I'd say that if it's an accurate ranking at all, it doesn't become accurate until about week 4, when everyone's played enough teams to make relative comparisons meaningful.
  25. I think you're missing the fundamental point here, that, regardless of party affiliation, he's an ass hole.
