What happened to M (Mediocre) TV?
Crap Throwing Monkey replied to Adam's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What are they programming nowadays? Last time I checked, MTV was running one long, constant, never-ending Spring Break wet t-shirt special. Aside from that and their awards no one ever pays attention to, do they ever show anything else? MTv peaked with Dire Straits' "Money For Nothing" video. Since then it's been all downhill. -

McGee quote on the INT...
Crap Throwing Monkey replied to KOKBILLS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not only that, but criticizing in isolation one player's decision to "gamble" is short-sighted and ill-informed. Quick - someone tell me what the coverage was on that play, zone or man, and what everyone else's responsibility was, including whether or not either or both of the safeties were backing up McGee on that play. Just because McGee gambled he could get the INT and the touchdown, it does not mean the flip-side of that gamble was a TD the other way. It doesn't even necessarily mean he chose to play out of position in the coverage scheme. It just means he thought he could get the INT and touchdown, and took a shot. Everything else everyone might say about his "gambling" is arrant supposition. -

Smoking Nazis strike again
Crap Throwing Monkey replied to /dev/null's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I would have decked the guy. Or maybe not, if I were already coughing up blood. That, though, is less a "smoking" issue and more a "people have no sense of decency" issue. Like the guy I almost killed the other day at Home Depot, who leaned his four sheets ot three-quarter ply against my new car while he talked on the cell phone. Sure, we could pass some "anti-plywood" law, and that "wouldn't" happen...but it doesn't help the root issue: that people - some, not all - are simply ass holes. -

Against what? A one-man rush? -
Yeah. I fail to see this inordinate level of interest in getting an expensive high 1st-round pick by the same people that B word about Donahoe's track record with expensive high 1st-round picks.
-
Of course, I wake up this morning and say "It's the day before Christmas, I've got sh-- to do today, I don't feel like taking three hours out of my day to watch them get killed by the Bengals." Figures...

I just checked the last 300 yard game...Bledsoe, Week 2 of 2003 against Jacksonville. What is that, 47 games ago?
-
Nope. In fact, there was a stretch into last year where a Bills QB hadn't had a 200-yard game. At the very least, it's been nearly two seasons since anyone had a 300-yard game.

24 of 31? You mean the receivers are actually catching the ball today?

Smoking Nazis strike again

I mentioned my duelling idea to my sister (a pansy liberal). She was aghast at the thought...until I pointed out that most people would be completely incapable of even wounding much less killing someone in cold blood, but the mere threat of having to fight someone who you didn't know was capable or not would keep people in line. -
Smoking Nazis strike again
Crap Throwing Monkey replied to /dev/null's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I've got a simple solution to all of this: legalize duelling. Secondhand smoke a problem? Challenge the guy to a duel. Someone's drinking and driving and plows into your car and kills your wife? A duel. Bill in NYC's a proselytizing elitist disparaging everyone who disagrees with him? Pistols at 10 paces. Everyone would get along much better, and the world would probably be a better place, if we knew our actions were answerable with our lives. At the very least, the world would be a lot less crowded. -
Ron Wolfe to Buffalo rumours re-surfacing...
Crap Throwing Monkey replied to Buftex's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That makes the concern sound so shallow and superficial. I think the concern's probably less about one single draft and more that, of all the offensive linemen Donahoe's drafted for the Bills, not one is starting on the Bills' line. Think about that. Not one. Not Mike Williams, not Jonas Jennings, not Marques Sullivan, Mike Pucillo (vomit), Ben Sobieski, Dylan McFarland, Duke Preston, Justin Geisinger. Of the current starters, three are other people's draft picks (none higher than the third round), one's an undrafted lineman, and one's an undrafted tight end. In fact, of ALL Donahoe's draft picks, not one is currently starting anywhere in the league (though Jennings is on IR...I suppose he would be starting if he were healthy, particularly on that putrid SF team). But yeah...I'm sure it's all about picking Roscoe Parrish. Ralph wouldn't look at Donahoe's entire draft history... -
Why not? I doubt scouting started in February of that year...TD at least deserves partial credit, I'd imagine.

SOS! What is a fan to do?!
Crap Throwing Monkey replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Meshawn's always been kind of like Deion Sanders used to be: an obnoxious ass who never shuts his trap on the field and in front of the media, but a relatively decent and generous guy otherwise. Some of these guys are truly ass holes (TO, for example)...but for some, it's just an affectation. From what I've heard, Keyshawn falls into the latter category. -
Twenty years from now, the only jobs will be with McDonalds or Wal-Mart, and we'll all be unqualified because we don't speak Spanish.
-
Okay...given that stipulation, then I agree. sh--...I don't think that's ever happened before.
-
I would rather strongly dispute that's really what the media is "there for". Now maybe I just don't give Dan Rather, Michael Moore, or MoveOn.org enough credit...but I think with your statement you're giving FoxSnooze, WorldNetDaily, and Ann Coulter a little too much...

That was pretty much my goal ...though I was mildly pissed that you'd respond to me with "How would you feel if Clinton traded info for access" when I already said I didn't think that was the case here - at least, not any more than it ever has been. That particular feature of government is a systemic feature rather than partisan. As a specific criticism of this administration, as X.B. used it, I think it is ill-founded, again as it's a systemic and non-partisan feature. When Clinton did it - as I'm sure he did - I felt the same way. Some things - quite a few, actually - go far beyond the man that holds the office.

What is your least favorite Christmas song?
Crap Throwing Monkey replied to KD in CA's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Paul McCartney, "Wonderful Christmastime". "Sim. Ply. Haaah. Ving. A WON-derful Christ-mas-time." Well, I was, Sir Paul...until I heard your lame-ass song. -
And this is exactly what we're talking about. Picard: lame-ass poetry about a "can't we all just get along" Christmas party. Kirk would have clubbed the Klingons in the face, finished off the Romulans with one of those patented flying two-footed kicks of his, then tossed a heartfelt "MERRY!....CHRISTMAS!......TO ALL!" over his shoulder as he left to bang the Orion slave girl. Kirk >>> Picard.

Maybe I haven't been entirely clear: I entirely reject your interpretation of the administration's attitude towards the press as ill-founded. Ergo, I also reject your feeble and idiotic attempt at demonstrating the fallacy of my statements using a half-assed and ill-advised reducto ad absurdum argument of your interpretation that I've already said I reject.
