  1. He's a veterinarian. The bigger question is: why do they smell like yours?
  2. Technically, that's nothing more that requiring a licensed pharmacist to live up to the responsibility of their license. Don't forget, you don't just hang a shingle and start giving out pills. A pharmacist is someone the state specifically licenses to dispense controlled substances in a controlled fashion (hence, "controlled substances"). Part and parcel with the rights that license grants is the responsibility inherent in the license: that the licensed pharmacist dispense medications as prescribed, unless doing so in their professional opinion would cause harm to the patient. So basically, what you're saying is that your against licensing pharmacists, since the requirement that a pharmacist dispense as prescribed regardless of their moral stance is inherent in the license itself.
  3. I've got a dime. I'll trade it to you for a set of good dovetail chisels.
  4. Yeah...but it wasn't fired from a gun. It was in the head of a mallet dropped on my foot. Other than that...no... If you're far enough away, of course, birdshot won't hurt at all. The effectiveness of shotgun loads drops off drastically with distance, and even moreso with light shot (#7 bird shot, say) than heavier (double-ought, or so). At close range, though, even birdshot will make a mess of anything it hits.
  5. You make T-Bone look thin and socially well-adjusted.
  6. Italian hookers are a dime a dozen...but do you have ANY idea how difficult it is to hand-cut a dovetail joint with mortise chisels?
  7. You need to stop loaning your outfits to Ed.
  8. TYPING EVERYTHING IN CAPITAL LETTERS DOES NOT INCREASE YOU CREDIBILITY OR MAKE YOU LOOK ANY SMARTER, NO MATTER HOW OFTEN YOU DO IT!
  9. You're an arrogant know-nothing blowhard who brings no discernable value to the board who's not as smart as he thinks he is. And you smell funny.
  10. You should be planted head-first in the ground like the rest of the turnips.
  11. Clarify something for me: Do you disagree with state regulation of pharmecuticals on principle, or do you just disagree with state regulation of Wal-Mart's pharmacies in this specific instance?
  12. Uh...he shot someone in the head. Yes, it was an accident...but still, one can take responsibility for an accident, say by standing up and saying "I accidentally shot the guy in the head." Problem is, most people don't know the difference between "responsibility" and "blame". Even if it's conclusively not Cheney's fault it happened, it's his responsibility via the simple fact that he's the one that shot the guy in the head.
  13. I disagree. Do you know how hard it is to hit a guy with a light load of birdshot in the head who's hiding in tall grass at twilight? That's pretty good shooting...
  14. The hole in that conspiracy being that a 28-gauge shotgun loaded with birdshot is not QUITE the weapon of choice for an assassination.
  15. Have you heard ANYTHING to the contrary?
  16. A good 3hp router would be nice, too, and a set of proper dovetail chisels. But the orbital sander...do you have any idea how difficult it is to shape the seat of a chair by hand with 60-grit paper?
  17. What is SO hard about turning off the capital letters, you nitwit?
  18. "Migrated" to his heart. Foreign objects can travel around the body, and bird shot is pretty small, roughly the size of coarse sand. It's not only entirely plausable that a piece of shot found its way into the circulatory system from his head or neck and made its way to his heart, I'd say that the hospital thought it was a significant risk, given that they'd put him in intensive care.
  19. Actually, Iran isn't a true democracy; election results still have to be vetted by the religious leadership. Traditional Afghanistan society is probably closer to a true democracy than Iran is now. But nevertheless, Iran does have democratic institutions. And it may well turn out that Iran's form of "theological democracy" is ultimately the form best suited for the Islamic world... ...or not. One has to be careful distinguishing "Islam" from "Arab nationalism" in these discussions. Indonesia, for example, occasionally has democratic forms of government (in between coups, of course) that DON'T require religions approval. Ditto Pakistan. It could be that "Islamic democracy" is uniquely Arabic, and due less to Islam than it is to Nasserist-type Arab nationalism.
  20. Actually, I never bought the "spreading democracy" bull sh-- either. When the !@#$ was it conclusively determined that western-style liberal democracy is workable in an Islamic society? And even if it is...hasn't anyone ever heard the cliche "Be careful what you wish for."?
  21. Heard that on the radio this morning. My first thought "This is news? Isn't it just sort of a foregone conclusion?" My second thought was "What, the Times expects us to unquestioningly provide foreign aid to groups whose policies are directly antithetical to ours?" Does the Times even perceive a difference between supporting a process by which policy is made, yet not supporting the policy that's ultimately formed? I have no real problem with the Palestinians electing Hamas; and Hamas is certainly entitled to their opinion. But I fail to see how we're somehow required to support Hamas just because they were chosen to represent the Palestinians.
  22. I'd say primary responsibility rests with the guy who pulls the trigger? But blame? Cheney took a legitimate shot at a legitimate target but without checking to see that everyone was on the line, while someone goes off the line and comes wandering back (through high grass, at dusk - i.e. in conditions of poor visibility) without announcing his presence. It's called an accident...and contrary to popular belief or Congressional investigations, accidents sometimes just happen, and "blame" isn't a necessary concept...
  23. Key word being "objectively". You establish a method for objectively measuring a QB's ability to read defenses, and then maybe you'll have something. Until then, you're just blowing hot air...
