  1. Underpowered as a dog fighter. -15's a better fighter.
  2. Jesus Christ. DPW has already announced they're going to divest themselves of the US maintenance contracts. So what does the House do? Vote anyway, to guarantee they do. Because apparently the sand !@#$s are also liars, as well.
  3. Just goes to show what a good photographer can do...
  4. And you - in particular - are entitled to disagree with me. It's called "having a discussion", and I'm happy you and I can disagree intelligently and respectfully. Even if you are wrong. But it's not about right or wrong, really. It's about not trying to argue your point by throwing bull sh-- clown and beach ball analogies in my face.
  5. That separation of powers argument sounds like a load of horseshit - if you're arguing that something is illegal on its face, how do you also argue that it's vested in another branch of government, and in the hypothetical case that the actions ARE legal...what are they, legislative? Judicial? Everything before that...well, yeah, no kidding. Problem being, again, that it's relatively easy to argue the elephant in the room again: that, as a military action in war time, none of those apply. The motions should have thrown "posse comitatus" in for good measure, just to dodge that obvious argument.
  6. No, chinks are fine. They're not tied to any real terrorist activity by race. That is...they're not sand !@#$s.
  7. Is anyone else weirded out by the liberal-labelled posters arguing against the existence of racism here, while the conservative-typecast posters are arguing for its presence? !@#$ing weird, man...
  8. That argument would work a hell of a lot better if the US had "picked" the company to begin with. This was Congress blocking the sale of a British company to an Arab company...and I haven't yet heard a reason for blocking it that doesn't reduce to "But...but...but...they're Arab." And thanks for providing the case in point: "Gitmo isn't full of Norwegians. We didn't pre-emptively invade the Portugese." In other words...it's because they're Arab. You're sure...based on what? How many companies are their in this nation and the world that do port management? How many of those would come beating down DPW's door to acquire the management contracts for six ports that are only on the market because the US Congress blocked the sale in the first place? Yeah, I'm sure they're lined up...I'd be lining up too under those conditions. And good job appealing to my well-vocalized sense of "The administration couldn't sell space-heaters to Eskimos." Nice touch. Too bad I haven't seen jack sh-- from the "American public" on this issue; everything I've seen has come entirely from Congress, who, if they bothered to do their !@#$ing jobs, should have raised the issue themselves above the level of "Sand !@#$s! Towel heads!" They didn't. In fact, they completely mis-portrayed the issue by implying that "American ports are being sold to Arabs", which was never the case to begin with!!! Yes, there's a hell of a lot more to this issue. That's why it's such a crying shame it got reduced, not to knee-jerk anti-arab sentiment, but to knee-jerk racism.
  9. Women say the same thing about me...
  10. Only problem I have with it is that he doesn't do it often enough.
  11. We do today, too, don't we? It's the camel jockeys. All of 'em, apparently.
  12. I see your point...but flip that around. If we want to improve our image in the Middle East, wouldn't it be beneficial to pursue relationships with moderate Islam? Instead, we xenophobically avoid them? BiB's right, in that the six ports represent, dollar-wise, a rounding error to DPW (my understanding has been and is still that they pursued this deal for the Far East ports, and the US ports were just part and parcel of the package). Dollars isn't the point. "We don't trust you enough to do business with you, simply because you worship Allah and wear robes" is the point. (There's also the point about the US government meddling in a deal between two foreign companies...but we'll ignore that for now.) The dollar value of the deal's entirely secondary to slapping an Arab strategic partner in the face with an obviously racist double-standard...and Arab society tends to be prideful and have a very long memory. I would love it, personally, if the UAE told our oil companies "We can't do business with you, as given American military adventurism in the Middle East over the past few decades, your companies are too much of a security risk" and stopped letting American ships into their terminals. Force us to pay a premium on oil while the rest of the world drinks it for breakfast. It would serve our racist asses right in this case.
  13. But not those filthy sand !@#$s, thank God.
  14. Is it just me, or did we really just hand fundamentalist Islamic terrorism a huge propaganda coup?
  15. But the GREAT news is that that vehicle won't be available here, because Dubai Ports World doesn't have US ports they can ship them in to. See, we're more secure already!
  16. There's no correlation between legislation and votes. There is between voter correspondence and votes. Don't forget, while their responsibility is ostensibly legislation, their job is to whore for votes.
  17. That's not to say I give no credit to the amazingly gorgeous creature in front of the camera...but a bad photographer can make a beautlful woman look hideous, just as a good photographer can make a beautiful woman look better. Whoever shot that was a great photographer.
  18. Anyone who looks to blame this on any individual should simply look at the House Appropriations Committee vote: 2 for, 62 against. I hate Hillary as much as the next person...but she's no more and no less to blame in this case than any other idiot in Congress on either side of the aisle. As far as I can recall, this issue had stronger bipartisan support than the bill to invade Afghanistan after 9/11; this is in NO way an issue of partisan stupidity.
  19. You want to be an air brush?
  20. Actually, now that you've drawn my attention to it, that is some nice work by the guy behind the camera as well.
  21. Too nice, I think. That doesn't even begin to approach the level of pissed-offedness I feel over it. Not even the deal so much...what the !@#$ do I care what Dubai Ports owns? I'm not even remotely involved in the industry. But here I've been, defending my country as standing for equality and opportunity, and it turns around and submarines a foreign business deal for reasons that I've only seen expressed as racist arguments. Worse yet, I've been arguing for several years that the characterization by the likes of bin Laden of American attitudes towards Arabs and Islam is completely inaccurate...and it turns out I'm wrong and he's right????? And this is because of...incumbents trying to win mid-terms? Did you know you can get New Zealand citizenship simply by depositing a quarter-million American dollars into a New Zealand savings account? Only thing really standing in our way is that the wife doesn't want the cats in quarantine for six months...
  22. Good idea, I think I'll do that too. I've only sent emails off to the UAE embassy in DC and government encouraging them to restrict if not cancel their business dealings with American companies in protest over our racist attitudes. Of course, since the free trade talks between the US and UAE have been postponed as of half an hour ago, they're probably way ahead of me. But hey...this enhances security!
  23. UAE's discussed limiting basing rights for the US, for one. Reduces our presence in the Persian Gulf. Other than that...what, you don't think treating the Arabs like second-class citizens is going to have reprucussions well beyond the UAE? We just stood up to the Muslim world and said "See, Osama's right. We DO discriminate against you!"
  24. I was far less offended by that than I am the whole "Keep the sand !@#$s out of our ports!" issue.
  25. And what the hell kind of treatments are those? Show the guy a picture of Roseanne Barr in a teddy...that'll cure him.
