  1. Jet stream maps show otherwise, actually. I'm still satisfied saying maybe it's a cut-off low, until I hear from an actual meteorologist. Point being, though, it's defined by being able to draw a single isobar around it. Doesn't matter how many more than one are around it; if there's one, it's a closed low.
  2. 95. Same as me. Of course, no one who scored a 95 on the test would admit to being ieatcrayonz anyway...unless they weren't, and chose to lie to distract you from the true ieatcrayonz, in true Machiavellian fashion... And the funny thing is...apparently only you and Ed don't know who ieatcrayonz is. Which doesn't say a whole hell of a lot for your powers of deduction.
  3. As far as I know. Like I said, reference book's packed, so I can't look it up for about two weeks. Bull, his choice of employers aside, was a certifiable genius when it came to gun design.
  4. Not quite. Your position seems to be "they should speak English if they want to live here." Mine is "They shouldn't expect the rest of us to speak THEIR language if they want to live here." I don't give a sh-- what language people choose to speak...but if it results in their inability to function in society, it shouldn't be society's problem.
  5. Maybe not now...but it's a 25-year old system, which makes it all the more amazing, I think. That thing was hitting targets at 30k yards when the 155mm howitzer you played with was struggling to throw a shell 20k yards.
  6. Thus illustrating the notable difference between speaking a language and expecting everyone else to speak it for your convenience. Hey, I don't care if the (*^*&%^$^#who wrecked my car speaks Spanish at home. I just don't know why I should be required to learn Spanish to sue his ass for damages. He wants to defend himself in the civil suit...he should learn English.
  7. Not a good one...and my artillery references are packed for the move already (save one book on Nazi athodyd shells - yeah, I have weird hobbies. I know.) Designed by Gerald Bull for South Africa; 155 mm gun/howitzer/mortar, on a towed but powered chassis, with excellent accuracy over a thoroughly stupid range (33000 yards with standard ammo, closer on 43000 with full-bore base-bleed rounds.) Crew of five...but can be crewed by two at full rate of fire if all the automatic systems are working. Sure, it can't fire a single-gun barrage like a M109A6 or PzH2000...but it'll hit either of those reliably before they ever get within range.
  8. Happy Birthday, ieatcrayonz!
  9. 95. I probably would have scored higher if the test could take into account why I disagree with PT Barnum: suckers are born WAY more frequently than every minute.
  10. M109A6 can do the same thing, supposedly. Germans do build good guns, though. Particularly Rheinmetall. Still, I'll take the South African G5. Freakishly good weapon.
  11. It's a "closed low". A cut-off low is a closed low that's isolated from the prevailing flow of weather patterns (i.e. it's "cut off" from the westerly flow of the jet stream). A closed low is merely a low pressure system that is completely bounded by a single isobar (i.e. you can draw a circle of constant air pressure around it - which you can see in this map: note the low over the Dakotas is completely surrounded by a circle - an isobar - whereas the one over northern Alabama isn't, which makes it a trough). Which means it might be a cut-off low...but not necessarily. It's certainly a closed low, but I don't think there's enough info from either of these maps alone to tell for certain that it's a cut-off low. Frankly, as best I can tell (not very well), it's not a cutoff low.
  12. To the Palestinian Authority, actually.
  13. Keep in mind, though...you're talking to a man who just got back from Iraq...
  14. Her neck's too long.
  15. "You asked a rhetorical question!" "No, you did!" "No...YOU did!" Both of you need to be smacked upside the head for inflicting that "conversation" on the rest of us.
  16. Actually, there's 10 kinds of people: those that know binary, and those that don't.
  17. Actually, there's three kinds if you count those with dual Max Nation/non-Max Nation citizenship. Or four, if you count those with their Max Nation green cards...
  18. Bull. Every married man knows that.
  19. I have such a hard time getting excited about hockey playoffs, though, when friggin' Nashville is in them. Nashville doesn't even have any business having a hockey team, much less having one in the playoffs. But then, I'm old school when it comes to hockey. I still pine for the good old days hockey when everyone got into the playoffs except Hartford...
  20. Consider the source, though...you're being called "dumb" by an idiot who once asked "Does sound travel faster than light in space?"
  21. PFW's reporting that the Texans are leaning towards taking Free Sex with their first-round pick. I know, they're supposed to take Reggie Bush...but why pay for it when you can get it free?
  22. "whom should Ralph sell the naming rights to?, local, national , et cetera" Whoever will pay him the most. You've got to be kidding. You're actually asking this question?
  23. And sometimes, they just have to say they have a plan. Implementation? What's that?
  24. In other words...they haven't, just like no one bitched about Israel 75 years ago either, and you're just putting words into their mouths. There's a reason no one here takes you seriously...
