I liked Peerless as a player, but he was kind of a turkey. Obviously, Willis over Peerless hands down.

Lee Evans is the anti-Peerless. He has CLASS in spades. Intelligent, well-spoken and very much a team player. Easy guy to root for.

I actually think last nights loss really hurts Denver. Look at their schedule. Three road games plus a home game against Indy. 9-7 is a real possibility now.

They shouldn't get anything. You use the phrase "due compensation". How do you define that? You could have got many groups of youngsters to sing for free on a rock album. It would have sounded the same. It is doubtful that the contribution of those youngsters brought more marginal revenue than another group of youngsters would have.

Random thoughts that I haven't seen addressed

One other thing, the aborted flea-flicker by McGahee was brilliant on his part. Henry cannot improvise like that. Without question, if Henry runs that play, it's a turnover or blown up play. -
1 - Mularkey's 4th and 4 punt from the 34 seemed weak. That's #3 on my list behind go for it and FG. 2 - Most pass plays by NE targeted McGee or our safeties. 3 - We did not take advantage of NE's lack of DB depth. Most of our plays were run w/ only one or two WRs in the game. 4 - I'm amazed at how poor coaches are with clock management. At the end of the first half, NE had 2nd down inside the Bills 10 yard line up 13-0 with about 1:20 left. If we had used our two remaining timeouts we could have ensured that we get the ball back with at least a minute to play. Instead, we don't call timeout, NE scores a TD, and we get the ball with 30 secs left. 5 - how come when we play NE it seems like they have 14 guys on defense? 6 - how come when we play NE it seems like we have 8 guys on defense?

The ESPN crew is the worst in football. As soon as McGee fielded the opening kickoff and you saw the ref throw the beanbag at the one, you knew they were going to spot the ball at the one, yet it took those three bozos 45 seconds to figure what was going on. They have their script and they stick to it no matter what is going on during the game. If you remember last year, all they wanted to talk about was Ricky Williams. At one point he was something like 20 rushes for 39 yards but they kept going on and on about him. They pick their stars - Brady, Ray Lewis, Terrel Owens etc. and go on ad nauseum about them. At least they had the guts to criticize the officials.

How to run the ball? Consult Dick Vermeil

Since Miami had a rushing TD yesterday, we are now the only team in the NFL without a rushing touchdown. -
The racks on the Raven cheerleaders. They were incredible!!!!

Just to clarify: Pace was the first overall pick in the draft and Ogden was drafted in the same spot as Williams, fourth overall.

As much as it pains me, although I love the Sox, think about this. Boston: Defending Super Bowl Champs 21 in a row Greatest baseball playoff comeback ever In the midst of the World Series Local college football team just beat Golden Domers Buffalo: Most boring football team in the NFL Other pro team may not play for another year Local college football team amongst the worst in Div IA I feel like were so inconsequential when it comes to big-time sports right now. I know everything is cyclical but we've had quite a down cycle.

I know the Bills stunk and it's not cool to complain about the officiating when they lose, but that was an awful non-call on Ray Lewis at the goal line. He was all over Evans both before the ball was in the air (holding) and when it was in the air (interference). Come to think of it, I don't recall one holding penalty or defensive backfield penalty all day on either team.

Did anyone notice #21 giving up on that ..

It didn't look like he was gonna catch the guy but the defender (Demps?) ran out of gas. At least Moulds hustled. -
Is there an offense less feared than the Bills?
maddog replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You can't score on 1st and goal and it's the QB's fault? Yeah it would be nice if he had mobility but it would be nice if we could run for a touchdown more often than once every eight games. -
Listen. Drew stunk today. However, he has played well for much of the year except for this game. He is not the worst QB in the league by any stretch. The problem with the Bills offense is that Drews strengths cannot be capitalized on with the rest of our offenses abilities and his weaknesses are exposed and magnified. Bad combination.

I noticed that. Peerless Price was crucified for a similar effort against Pittsburgh about four years ago. -
There wasn't any "decision" on that play. Anyone that blames the first inteception on Bledsoe doesn't know jack about football. It was a designed play where he fakes the slip toss sweep , which they have been running quite a bit the last couple weeks, spins and immediately throws a screen to the other side. The play should not have been blown up as bas as it was. Nevertheless, I thought Bledsoe was poor today, the miss on Moulds at the goal line and the second Deion pick being the most egregious errors.

Great point. I totally agree. "Choke" is one of the most overused terms in sports, especially team sports. I'm on board with the Van de Velde choke though. That was a classic gagger.

2005 Hall Of Fame Prelims Announced

I know he will eventually get in, but I really don't want to see Michael Irvin in the Hall of Fame. -
Anyone see the TShirt last night at the game
maddog replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Who cares about the shirt. How about the chick in the Boston bar with the red cowboy hat showing her midriff. -
I have been on that website and it has great information. They have a more rigorous analysis of team & player statistics that takes into account all the different factors that impact performance. They had a positive little blurb on the Bills this week as well: "Then there is the fourth team in the division, the Buffalo Bills. They’re horrible, right? The general consensus is that they only have a win because when two winless teams play each other, someone has to come out the victor. But this consensus may not be accurate. This week, with Kansas City’s loss to Jacksonville, Buffalo takes over the title of the highest-ranked losing team according to DVOA. (For those curious, DVOA says that the Chiefs deserved to lose that game even without taking into account Lawrence Tynes’ sudden transformation into the Chris Dudley of kicking.) The idea of Buffalo as an above-average team sounds ludicrous, but three of Buffalo’s four losses have come by three points or less. What’s interesting is that they are doing this with balance. Last year DVOA had the Bills ranked #7 in defense, but #29 in offense. This season, the defense doesn’t seem to be playing quite as well, ranked #13 (-3.3%), but the offense has improved from terrible to average, ranked #17 (-2.0%). Even more curious is the way the Buffalo offense has gradually improved from game to game this season. The Bills aren’t going to the playoffs out of a division with two teams that started 5-0. But if they beat Baltimore this week, we’ll know they are for real. Not great, but good – good enough to play an interesting role as spoiler during a four-game stretch starting Week 9 where they get the Jets, Patriots, Rams, and Seahawks and could help decide two division races."

I hate to say it, but I think you have to play Taylor. Unless Mularkey is bluffing, McGahee will split carries with Henry. Additionally, Buffalo does not have a rushing TD yet this year. I hate to be in those spots where your fantasy players are going up against the Bills. I'd play Taylor and root for the Bills.

If it is a close game, one area where Baltimore has an advantage is in the kicking game. Stover is very consistent. Lindell has not shown the accuarcy that Stover has.
