  1. I would not miss Sully if he never wrote for the News again. By the Buffalo News hiring Tim Graham, it really showed commitment to top-notch coverage of the Bills and sports in general. Tim really is one of the best in the country. So the News sent Tim, Mark Gaughan and Jay Skurski to camp this season, and they have put together the best blog on the Bills around: http://blogs.buffalonews.com/press-coverage/ By the way, I do not work for the News, but I am a former journalist and know great reporting.
  2. My deepest sympathy, my friend. Your father's legacy will outlive us all. God bless.
  3. Your opinion is the opposite of a homer -- you're unreasonably pessimistic. Fitz is far from the worst QB in the division. The stinkin' fish have a rookie with big question marks while the Jests have dirty Sanchez (since Rex says Tebow is not going to become the starter, he doesn't count). And you have no idea what three years from now holds for any team in any pro sport.
  4. Breaking News: More than 2,000 former NFL players unite in suing league, alleging it "deliberately ignored" risks of head injuries. http://fxn.ws/LxWoKH This many players and widows standing together may just be big enough to get real attention from the public.
  5. You could not be more wrong. Center can be as important as any position other than the quarterback. And as someone posted a link about earlier this week, Wood flies under the radar but he is one of the best centers in all of football.
  6. 1. Stevie - Who else is there at WR? He is our receiving corps, and he is a damn good one. 2. Wood - The center may be the second most important position in football (ask Jim Kelly, and he will sing Kent's name). He is nearly #1 on my list. 3. "Head" - He is so consistent and so good he still rises this high even with another legit starting-caliber RB behind him. 4. Kyle - Even though our D could still be dominate without him, the D can be truly great with him. 5. Easley/Jones - We need a #2 WR.
  7. I fully agree that the GM and coach must be working together with the same vision for the team. Remember, the GM hires (and can fire) the head coach, so the GM is going to hire a coach who shares the same philosophy. Bingo.
  8. On draft choices and trades? No way. Those are rightfully the GM's duties. Yes, the head coach should have an input, but the GM is responsible for building the roster and the coach is responsible for getting the most possible out of the roster. It RARELY works when the coach is also acting as the GM. As for the original article, the important takeaway on Wanny's past is that he knows how to coach very well, so the Bills are putting his best qualities to use. How refreshing.
  9. Robo-Punter -- Focus 70 percent of your other resources on building a defense. Win.
  10. RIP, Paul. I will be walking in a charity event this Saturday morning in suburban Rochester (Fairport, NY) to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. If no one objects, I will add Paul Lewczyk to the list of names to be read in remembrance. The event is called Merilee's Morning March for Mental Wellness. http://www.facebook.com/charity.walk or if you don't use Facebook, http://2012morningmarch.eventbrite.com/
  11. This has to spell the end of Thigpen's time as Bill, presuming we keep one of the UDFA QBs on the field today.
  12. Welcome to Buffalo, Mr. Young. Please enjoy yourself, but respect the team, the city and the fans.

  14. Semper Fi! I started the Bills Backers chapter in Fredericksburg about 10 years ago when I was working at Quantico. I live over in Southern Maryland now. Go Bills!
  15. Maryland/Washington - from Fairport, NY GO BILLS!!!
  16. He tweeted: "Business is Business no feelings move on and continue to grind Thanks for all the support #billsmafia the Grind Continues"
  17. You gotta be able to hit the targets standing still before you can hit them moving. But his stats show he was highly effective when they were moving. Sure, they weren't moving at the speeds the DIV I prospects were hitting, but that's why he has to come in and really prove himself this weekend. It is a fun time of the year. Go Bills!!!
  18. Seriously? Or is my sarcasm detector busted? He has immense touch and accuracy. He didn't throw that many ropes in games, but he still killed it week in and week out. Oh, the videos show crazy accuracy.
  19. Anger is a common and natural feeling after a suicide. But because suicide is often poorly understood, those left behind may feel the suicide is somehow shameful, or that they or their family are somehow to blame for this tragedy. But people need to know that 90 percent of all people who die by suicide have a diagnosable psychiatric disorder at the time of their death (most often depression or bipolar disorder). Just as people can die of heart disease or cancer, people can die as a consequence of mental illness. Try to bear in mind that suicide is almost always complicated, resulting from a combination of painful suffering, desperate hopelessness and underlying psychiatric illness.
  20. When you're a Bills fan, there is always next season.
  21. My hearts go out to Junior Seau's family, friends and fans. It has been very difficult hearing and seeing a number of my childhood heroes going through some of the emotions my family and I went through when we lost our mother two years ago. I so hope and pray that this tragedy leads more people to openly discuss mental illness, brain injuries and suicide prevention. My family is holding a charity walk in Fairport (just outside of Rochester) later this month with that exact goal.
  22. I understand it is against the rules to complain about threads being locked, but I passionately agree that the thread in question should not have been closed. There needs to be leeway given in certain situations. I think it is appropriate to remind everyone that suicide can be prevented. While some suicides occur without any outward warning, most people who are suicidal do give warnings. Prevent the suicide of loved ones by learning to recognize the signs of someone at risk, taking those signs seriously and knowing how to respond to them. Warning signs of suicide include: Observable signs of serious depression: Unrelenting low mood Pessimism Hopelessness Desperation Anxiety, psychic pain and inner tension Withdrawal Sleep problems Increased alcohol and/or other drug use Recent impulsiveness and taking unnecessary risks Threatening suicide or expressing a strong wish to die Making a plan: Giving away prized possessions Sudden or impulsive purchase of a firearm Obtaining other means of killing oneself such as poisons or medications Unexpected rage or anger The emotional crises that usually precede suicide are often recognizable and treatable. Although most depressed people are not suicidal, most suicidal people are depressed. Serious depression can be manifested in obvious sadness, but often it is rather expressed as a loss of pleasure or withdrawal from activities that had been enjoyable. One can help prevent suicide through early recognition and treatment of depression and other psychiatric illnesses.
  23. But seriously, the video of this kid throwing the ball are real. CBS had two producers go out and watch him do some of the trick shots.
  24. Um, not even close to being accurate. The Skins tried hard to trade Gaffney, but everyone knew they had to cut him if they couldn't trade him. The Skins singed a couple expensive free agent wide receivers last month and could not and cannot afford to keep him.
  25. I would think if he had much left in the tank, he'd at least get a look from Denver, as well.
