  1. I found it interesting. Thank you for posting it, Yolo! It will be interesting to see how many handoffs to Shady come from a Pistol formation. Shotguns help struggling olines with pass blocking but can pose as bigger challenges in run blocking.
  2. I'm left to presume you did not read the comment I was replying to because my question was direct response to what had been written and in no way infers that I know any Native Americans. But, I actually do know many, some of whom I am directly related to and others are lifelong friends. And, they've told me they are not offended by the team's name. The really interesting part in that is they tell me the majority of Native Americans who are offended by are those living up in our area (WNY & CNY) because they're told to be by the governing bodies in this region. Elsewhere, you hear very little in the way of objection. Believe it or not, this is all a huge political effort to strengthen the Democratic hold on the minority vote and to help certain Native American nations as they continue to fight for more reparations. That's not my opinion; that is fact. It has been effective, obviously.
  3. Yes, I see a huge difference, and I certainly in no way mean to compare Taylor to either of those Hall of Famers. The thing is, for me, every good thing someone says about Taylor is automatically dismissed and tied to something or someone negative.
  4. So did Kelly, Elway, etc., etc. We can agree it would be good if our starting QB had a strong arm, right?
  5. Put the state down as much as you want. I don't care, at all. They elected these politicians, they get to live with the decisions. Doesn't matter to me. As for the Redskins, have you met one person of Native American descent who is offended by the team name?
  6. Interesting quote from Chris Brown in the recent Bills Focus on Taylor: "Of the three quarterbacks in the competition, Taylor, despite a smaller stature, clearly has the strongest arm." Also interesting the Bills PR team decided, since the end of the last mini-camp, to interview Ryan, Roman, Thurman and profile Taylor.
  7. Don't forget that "small group" are South Carolina citizens who were elected by the people.
  8. I listened to Sal's interview of Steve Tasker tonight. The interview aired on the John Murphy show back on July 1. It was a great interview, but I heard one tidbit that I haven't seen talked about here. When asked about the QB competition he says Cassel is an upgrade of Orton, says EJ has it in him to play more in the NFL although he noted it may not be with the Bills, but then he talks about Tyrod. He says the coaches are surprised by how well the other players respond to him, saying others in the huddle want to play better when around him. "[Taylor's] been a guy who steps into the huddle and affects those guys in the way they want to play." Tasker goes so far as to talk about this intangible in the way Jim Kelly could inspire those around him.
  9. Well, that'd be nice for contract purposes.
  10. It makes sense if they believe he is washed up.
  11. Dennis Thurman ranks #8 among DCs. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000498479/article/wade-phillips-vic-fangio-among-top-10-defensive-coordinators
  12. The Texans didn't stop this trade. The Bills did -- by signing Taylor. Elway and company then knew they were stuck with Manning for another season.
  13. Bills tie: Kubiak wanted to trade Manning, while he was pursuing Tyrod Taylor.
  14. Anything less than a serious playoff run will be a disappointment. But last year's #1 defense also had the #9 offense. Seattle made the Super Bowl but didn't win it. Denver was #4 O / #3 D. NE was just outside the top-10 on each side.
  15. Greg Roman/s career is squarely on the line. With all this talent and these sky-high expectations, anything less than a top-10 offense will be a major disappointment that will hamstring any future shot at a head coaching gig. If he meets those expectations, he's likely a leading candidate to take over for a team after the Super Bowl.
  16. Oh good. We don't have enough TEs. Who goes away?
  17. Kubiak tried to sign Taylor in Denver, reportedly offering him more money than the Bills paid. Taylor was a FA so he was able to chose to go where he had a shot at starting right away.
  18. Can we agree Kubiak and company are going into the season believing they have the personnel to compete for a Super Bowl? Can we also agree that at Peyton's age, it is reasonable to believe there are increased odds he will miss at least some of the season with injuries? Given that, I think it is quite likely the Broncos see their backup QB as key and not just a clipboard holder.
  19. Bringing back up for those worried about today's reports. Truly, I am not concerned, at this point.
  20. I was just thinking the same thing while listening to Percy. It matches up with Dennis Thurman's comments last week about how the offense getting in and out of the huddle quickly was putting useful pressure on his defense. Seems to me a fast paced offense makes sense with this personnel now. With so many versatile players, we can indeed create a lot of mismatches and keep changing things without letting the defense have time to adjust.
  21. Gilmore's beard is chaotic.
